Phu Bia Mining Builds Road for Future Development of Xaysomboun Province

Phu Bia Mining handed on Thursday over its 100 per cent investment in the newly constructed concrete road in Nam Mo village, located in Xaisomboun Province’s Anouvong District.

The handover ceremony marks one of the Company’s largest socio-economic contributions to the province as well as the strong friendship with the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

Phu Bia Mining invested US$ 1,422,500 for the construction of the 2.728 kilometres, 6 metres wide concrete road which runs from its Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation to Ban Nam Mo Secondary School.

Xaisomboun Provincial Governor, His Excellency Phoykham Houangbounguang acknowledged the substantial investment when officially receiving the concrete road from Phu Bia Mining Chairman, Mr. Chanpheng Bounnaphol and Phu Bia Mining Managing Director, Wen fu Wang last week.

The Governor also acknowledged that over a decade, Phu Bia Mining has invested more than US$ 100 million in public roads improvements in Laos.

The Ban Nam Mo concrete road will be the backbone of road network connectivity for the province, offering an important route for the future socio-economic development of the village and surrounding communities.

The sentiment was also shared by high-ranking Government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic’s officials who attended the ceremony including the Vice Minister, the Deputy Head of the Prime Minister’s Office,Her Excellency Madam Thippakone Chanthavongsa; the Vice Minister of Energy and Mines, His ExcellencyThongphat Inthavong; the Vice Minister of Public Works and Transport, His Excellency Lan Sengaphone; and
other senior Government officials and invited guests.

On this occasion, the Vice Ministers also received corporate gifts that are made from 99.99 per cent gold with Phu Bia Mining logo and attended a site visit to see first-hand the Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation.
