Unveiling Critical Insights into External Hard Drive Data Recovery in Q1 2025 Report

NEW YORK, May 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — EaseUS, a leader in data recovery solutions, has just released a comprehensive report for Q1 2025, highlighting critical trends and insights into external hard drive data recovery.

External hard drives (including HDD and SSD) are portable and have large-capacity storage capabilities. They are widely used in the storage and transmission of daily office documents, the archiving of home photos and videos, and the file management of multimedia projects. However, the threat of data loss remains a significant concern. This report covers over 3 million samples worldwide, delving into data recovery from external hard disks from multiple dimensions, including storage capacity, brand reliability, and disk type.

The key findings include:

Small Drives, Big Risks: Avoid Data Loss with Larger Capacities

Data shows that the probability of data loss for small-capacity external drives with a capacity of less than 64GB is four times that of large-capacity drives with a capacity of over 4TB. This significant vulnerability mainly stems from frequent use in complex environments, improper user operation (such as not safely ejected devices), and hardware limitations (such as using low-quality components when manufacturing small-capacity drives).

SSDs show a similar trend but with less pronounced differences. Small-capacity SSDs below 256GB face double the risk of data loss compared to those exceeding 4TB. Frequent read/write operations and weaker controller performance in smaller SSDs contribute to higher failure rates.

Trust in Top Brands: WD, Seagate, and Samsung Offer Outstanding Protection

Brand reliability significantly impacts data protection. Leading brands like Western Digital, Seagate, and Samsung have demonstrated greater stability and advantages in preventing data loss. When making a choice, users should pay more attention to the overall quality and security performance of their products.

SSDs Trump HDDs: Solid-State Drives Ensure Better Data Security

Traditional mechanical hard disks (HDD) experience a 40% higher data loss probability than solid-state drives (SSD). SSDs’ architecture, lacking mechanical components, provides better shock resistance and stability, significantly reducing data loss risks.

This data statistics is not merely related to numbers; it also provides practical tips for users to protect external hard disks and files, emphasizing the importance of choosing the right hardware, safe usage practices, and effective backup strategies. Suggestions include giving priority to the advanced technologies and quality control of well-known brands, using the exFAT file system for SSDS to avoid TRIM-related data zeroing, leveraging cloud services for dual protection, and applying final data recovery software to rescue critical data effectively.

PU Prime Drives Coastal Restoration Efforts in Thailand

SINGAPORE, May 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — PU Prime, a globally recognised financial services provider, has reaffirmed its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at the Air and Coastal Defense Command of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) in Sattahip, Thailand. Held on 22 May 2025, this one-day program focused on restoring coastal ecosystems through three key environmental activities: beach cleanup, mangrove seedling planting, and crab release.

Driving Environmental Impact

As part of PU Prime’s ESG framework, the initiative was structured around three key environmental activities designed to contribute meaningfully to the restoration and preservation of coastal ecosystems. Each activity was selected for its ecological relevance and alignment with regional sustainability goals.

1. Beach Cleanup

The beach cleanup activity targeted the removal of marine debris and non-biodegradable waste, such as plastic bottles, fishing nets, rope, and other litter found along Sattahip’s shoreline. These pollutants are a growing concern due to their detrimental impact on marine life. Sea turtles, fish, and dolphins are often endangered by such waste, risking entanglement or ingestion that can result in injury or death. By removing this waste, the initiative not only improved the local environment but also contributed to the global fight against marine pollution and microplastics.

This cleanup effort also highlighted the power of community-driven conservation and the responsibility businesses have in safeguarding biodiversity. It sent a strong message about the importance of collective action in preserving marine habitats and preventing further environmental degradation.

2. Mangrove Seedling Cultivation

Another significant part of the initiative involved the planting of Avicennia marina, a species of mangrove well-suited to coastal and brackish environments. Mangroves serve as crucial coastal buffers, protecting shorelines from erosion, storm surges, and saltwater intrusion. They also provide shelter and breeding grounds for a wide range of marine and terrestrial species.

By planting mangrove seedlings, PU Prime not only supported biodiversity but also contributed to climate mitigation. Mangrove forests are known for their exceptional capacity to sequester carbon, helping absorb atmospheric CO₂. The initiative further educated participants on the ecological, social, and economic value of mangroves—essential ecosystems that support local fisheries, sustain coastal livelihoods, and bolster eco-tourism.

3. Crab Release

The crab release component involved the careful reintroduction of native crab species into their natural habitat. This effort was aimed at supporting the regeneration of local marine populations, maintaining ecological balance, and strengthening food web dynamics in the area. Crabs play an essential role in benthic ecosystems by recycling nutrients, aerating sediments, and serving as prey for larger species.

The release was carried out in collaboration with local environmental coordinators to ensure that species selection and handling adhered to best practices in marine conservation. This activity, while symbolic, formed a tangible part of PU Prime’s effort to promote sustainable marine ecosystems and enhance local biodiversity.

A Broader ESG Vision

PU Prime ensured the initiative was well-supported with logistical planning, including transportation, facilitators, necessary equipment, and refreshments. Activities were conducted in line with local environmental guidelines, ensuring minimal disruption and lasting positive impact.

ExploMar Unveils the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform to empower 200km range electric water transportation

VENICE, Italy, May 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As a technology company focused on high-performance electric outboard motor systems, ExploMar has already launched the WAVE 300, WAVE 150+, and WAVE 70+ electric outboard motor systems, along with the 5S Energy Station solution. Recently, it announced the launch of a groundbreaking new product—the upgraded SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform—set to be officially unveiled at the 2025 Venice Boat Show (at the booth of AS LABRUNA SRL). Through system-level capacity expansion and structural innovation, this platform represents a breakthrough in the “200 km range” technology barrier, laying a solid foundation for the global electric boating industry to enter a new era of medium-to-long-range practicality.

Waterborne transportation, a critical component of the global mobility network, stands on the cusp of a shift toward sustainability. The global leisure boating fleet has surpassed 30 million vessels, with an additional 930,000 expected to have been added in 2024, representing a market valued at approximately 46.9 billion USD. As environmental regulations tighten, fuel consumption is increasingly restricted, and energy costs continue to rise, green transportation is transitioning from a distant ideal to a tangible reality, driving the boating industry toward full electrification.

Compared to fuel-powered vessels, electric propulsion offers significant advantages in terms of lifecycle economics: energy costs are approximately one-fifth those of traditional boats, the lifespan of electric propulsion systems can be two to three times longer, and maintenance requirements are significantly lower—just one-tenth of those for conventional powertrains. At the same time, electric boats deliver clear environmental benefits, including zero emissions, low noise, and minimal pollution, positioning them as a key pathway for the future of sustainable waterborne transportation.

However, unlike the widespread adoption of electric cars on land, electric maritime transportation still faces key technological challenges—especially “range anxiety,” which is particularly evident in medium-to-long-distance cruising scenarios. The demand for waterborne shuttles, high-frequency operation vessels, and small to medium-sized electric ferries is growing, but current battery systems still struggle to support efficient operations for around 200 km while maintaining performance. To truly propel electric boats from short-range experiences to practical medium- and long-range capabilities, innovation at the system level, particularly in core battery technology, is essential.

Battery System Expansion to Meet Medium-to-Long-Range Demands
In ExploMar’s electric outboard motor systems, the battery is the core energy storage unit of the entire system. It not only determines the boat’s range but also plays a critical role in power output stability and operating costs. The newly launched SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform has achieved system-level capacity expansion, featuring exceptional modular configuration capabilities.

Each outboard motor system can be configured with up to 270 kWh, while a dual-motor system can extend to 540 kWh, and a four-motor system can achieve a total energy capacity of 1,080 kWh. This not only meets the high-frequency usage demands of working boats and leisure vessels but also makes the full electrification transformation of traditional, high-fuel-consumption vessels, such as medium-sized ferries, a realistic possibility.

High Energy Density and Dual Thermal Management for Multi-Climate High-Performance Needs
On the performance front, the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform uses next-generation cells with an energy density of 250 Wh/kg, effectively balancing long lifespan, lightweight design, and high-power output requirements. This allows the entire system to maintain extended range while offering agile power response. The battery supports 1C to 2C high-discharge rates and fast charging capabilities and is compatible with both 400V and 800V voltage platforms, interfacing with mainstream port fast-charging networks to significantly improve energy replenishment efficiency at harbor and temporary dock sites.

Moreover, to address multi-climate operational challenges, the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform incorporates a dual thermal management system: a liquid cooling system ensures stable operation in hot climates, while an electronic heating system quickly activates in cold conditions to maintain cell activity and safe discharge. This dual-temperature intelligent thermal control design ensures that electric boats can operate stably in various climate conditions worldwide, enhancing the global navigability of electric systems.

Boatyard-Friendly, On-Demand Expansion, Creating a Flexible and Efficient Integrated Solution
The SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform is designed with compatibility and installation flexibility in mind, optimizing the integration with the overall vessel design. The modular battery uses a double-layer cell stacking structure, with fixed dimensions of 710 mm in width and 300 mm in height. This design makes full use of the stern area space and allows for optimized vessel balance and layout.

Through ExploMar’s proprietary BMS battery management system and highly integrated high-voltage E/E architecture, a single electric outboard system can support up to three battery packs. Users and boatyards can flexibly configure the system based on range requirements, enabling “on-demand expansion.” This makes it easier for boatyards to match systems during new vessel construction and allows dealers and service providers greater inventory flexibility and project adaptation efficiency in after-sales energy replenishment solutions.

The launch of the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform marks the end of the 200 km range as a technological bottleneck for electric boats, signaling the beginning of a new era of sustainable waterborne transportation. We believe this platform will not only expand the range of electric boats but will also accelerate the adoption of electric technology and the establishment of technical standards worldwide, paving the way for large-scale implementation and commercial applications in diverse scenarios such as island transportation, water commuting, eco-tourism, and cross-shore shuttles, ultimately ushering in a new era of 200 km-range, zero-emission, low-maintenance, high-performance waterborne transportation.
