On 7 October, the Ministry of Finance announced the transfer of oversight for state-funded enterprises, including state-owned and mixed-ownership entities, to the State Enterprise Reform Committee.
According to the notice, from 8 October onward, all management matters and proposals concerning state-funded enterprises will be handled by the Office of the State Enterprise Reform Committee, located at the Party Central Committee Office in Sivilay village, Xaythany district, Vientiane Capital.
The notice also stated that all previously submitted documents will be forwarded to the committee for consideration.
This move comes as part of a broader government reshuffle and reform agenda aimed at improving governance, operational efficiency, and performance in state enterprises.
The announcement follows a major Lao government reshuffle in June 2025, replacing or reassigning nine ministers and appointing a new Governor of the Bank of Laos.
The reforms reduced ministries from 17 to 13, merged the Ministry of Planning and Investment with Finance, dissolved the Ministry of Home Affairs, and shifted media affairs to the Party’s Propaganda Committee.
Changes aligned with preparations for the 2026-2030 development cycle or the 10th National Socio-Economic Development Plan.
