The 48th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting (AEM 48) was opened this morning by Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith in the presence of ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh.
The ministers and their counterparts from dialogue partner countries will discuss mechanisms and proper solutions to ensure the implementation of action plans under each framework.
The 30th ASEAN Free Trade Area Council Meeting, the 19th ASEAN Investment Area Council Meeting and other related meetings have been also scheduled to be held in Vientiane for today.
“In the globalised world, economics are becoming more integrated as trade in goods and trade services become more liberalized, investment environment more open and capital flows and labour more mobile. These trends are observed across various frameworks including in regional economic integration and the broader multilateral context,” said Prime Minister Thongloun.
