Hinheup Primary Students Get New Classrooms

PS Agriculture and Industry Development Import-Export Company has provided 1.5 billion kip and funded construction of a new primary school in Vientiane province to improve educational opportunities there.

A handover ceremony took place last weekend in Somsanouk village, Hinheup district, attended by Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and Government Spokesman Prof. Dr. Chaleun Yiapaoher, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Mr. Lytou Buapao, provincial Education and Sports Department Director Ms Chanphaeng Viphavanh, the company’s manager Ms Souknaly Thepsymuang, district authorities, teachers and students.

Somsanouk is a new resettlement village where people have been moved from Khokxay and Nangon villages, Xiengkhor district of Huaphan province in 2013, said deputy head of the village Mr. Siher.

Previously, students here walked about 2-4 km to school and also were at risk from road accidents. Therefore, authorities and villagers proposed to build the new school.

Some114 students including 43 girls were now studying at the school thanks to the company, he said. Construction of the new school began in May and was just completed last month. The school is built to high standards and features classrooms, an office, bathrooms, educational equipment and furniture.

We took 1.5 billion kip from the company’s corporate social responsibility fund in fiscal year of 2015-2016 to build this school. The company plans to provide more funds to help other sectors in society as well in the future, Ms Souknaly Thepsymuang said.

Mr Lytou Buapao said the new primary school was an important contribution to developing education in Laos and the government considers education the key to developing the country.

He urged village authorities and teachers to maintain the facilities in its new condition for as long as possible. In addition they should encourage local children to attend school.

PS Agriculture and Industry Development Import-Export Company registered as a business enterprise in May 2012, with registered capital of 900 million kip.

The company is allowed to operate three types of business: agriculture and livestock breeding promotion, bottling of drinking water, and the import and export of consumer goods.

PS Agriculture and Industry Promotion Import-Export Company’s offices are located in Chommany village, Xaysettha district, and it has a project site in Paksarp village, Xaythany district.

The company is currently asking the government to increase its registered capital from 900 million kip to 50 billion kip for the purposes of business expansion.
