The National Assembly will open its first Ordinary Session of the Eighth Legislature next Monday. It will run from October 24 to November 18.
Member of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee and Secretariat of the National Assembly Ms Souansavanh Viyaket made the statement at a press conference held on October 19 in Vientiane Capital.
The lawmakers are expected to discuss and approve 16 laws, of which are three new, 12 are amended, as well as one draft proposal. They will also hear a report on the implementation of the Social-economic Development Plan of 2016, the State Budget Plan, and a monetary incentive policy for the fiscal year of 2017.
The lawmakers will discuss and approve the government’s report on amending the state budget plan for four years for the period of 2017-2020.
The meeting will also consider a report of the State Inspection Organisation regarding the results of auditing in the period of 2013-2014, a report on the last six months, and the 2017 plan of the National Assembly for the Eighth Legislature.
The re-election of National Assembly members of Savannakhet Province, a report on the state budget plan for fiscal year 2015-2016, and a state inspection plan for 2017 will also be among hot topics.
The lawmakers will consider and approve the People’s Supreme Prosecutors and People’s Supreme Court’s reports on the works of its five-year plan for 2011-2015, 2015-2016, its future plan for 2016-2020, and next year’s plan for 2017.
