Sekong Province Authorizes Reopening of Pubs, Clubs and Bars

This Week

Sekong Province has officially authorized the reopening of entertainment venues including pubs, bars, and clubs in a bid to restart its economy.

A notice issued yesterday by the provincial department of information, culture, and tourism, instructs district offices to authorize owners of entertainment venues and other businesses to resume operations.

Bars, pubs, and karaoke venues will be able to reopen their doors effective immediately, with spas, massage parlors, and snooker halls authorized to reopen as well.

According to the notice, certain Covid-19 prevention measures are to remain in place at entertainment venues in the province, including temperature checks and the provision of hand gel.

Patrons are advised to maintain social distancing, while business owners have been warned that they will be held accountable for any outbreak of Covid-19 at their establishment.

The news comes as Laos edges closer to reopening its borders after the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday endorsed a plan to reopen the country to tourism on 1 January 2022.
