Laos Confirms 2,033 New Cases of Covid-19

Laos has recorded 2,033 cases of Covid-19 across the country today.

The National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control reported that 4,754 tests were conducted across the country over the last 24 hours, with 2,033 new cases confirmed.

There were 2,013 cases of community spread and 20 imported cases across the country. 

Community Spread by Province:

Vientiane Capital recorded 1069 cases.

In Luang Prabang Province saw one hundred and four cases. 

In Savannakhet Province, there were eighty cases.

In Vientiane Province, there were eighty-six cases.

In Bokeo Province saw thirteen cases. 

Khammouane Province saw sixty-five cases today.

Total Cases:

Laos now has 4,857 active cases of Covid-19, with 687 confirmed deaths, and 191,017 total cases.

Meanwhile, 321 people recovered and were discharged from hospitals around the country yesterday.

Vaccination Rate

First dose vaccinations have now reached 77.27% of the eligible population, while second dose vaccinations have now reached 62.88%.

Omicron Situation

The prevalent strain in community transmission is Omicron variant, with a detection rate of more than 90% a day. 

Vientiane Capital records the most cases with 50% of the daily cases in Laos.
