President Thoungloun Sisoulith led Lao government officials on Monday in signing a book of condolence in memory of the former Chinese President Jiang Zemin at the Embassy of China in Laos.

The message from Lao leaders read:” On behalf of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People’s Democratic Party, we would like to express our condolences on the death of Comrade Jiang Zemin, former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, former President of the Republic of China, and former Chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission.

Comrade Jiang Zemin is a leader who has made great achievements in the revolutionary mission of the Communist Party of China, as well as the mission of protecting and developing the nation of China.

At the same time, he is also one of the Chinese leaders who have focused on promoting and enhancing China-Laos relations to move forward into a new history in the 21st century.

The passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin is a great loss for the party, state and the people of China, as well as the loss of a comrade, a respected friend of the party, state and people of Laos. May the soul of Comrade Jiang Zemin rest in peace.”

On the same day, Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh and Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and delegations also participated in the wreath-laying ceremony and signed the book of condolence for the deceased leader.
