Laos and Indonesia share the same difficulties in combating the production, use, and distribution of illegal substances, as Laos is often used as a transit location for the international narcotics syndicate network that operates out of the Golden Triangle.
General Major Khamking Phuilamanivong stated that Laos and Indonesia would jointly establish a plan that will serve as the basis for their collaboration in tackling the drug problem in the region.
The two countries also agreed to cooperate on human resource training and capacity building, and Indonesian authorities also invited officers from the Lao Ministry of Public Security to attend an upcoming bilateral meeting in Bali.
