Four people were killed after the driver of a pickup truck lost control and went over a bridge in Muang La district, Oudomxay Province on Wednesday.
A silver Toyota Hilux pickup truck driving from Phongsaly Province went over the edge of Ing Ang Bridge in Oudomxay’s La district on Wednesday afternoon, according to local reports.
The vehicle was recovered yesterday afternoon after a lengthy search with four bodies inside.
Authorities have not yet issued a statement detailing how the two men and two women inside the vehicle died, whether as a result of the crash or drowning.
Three of those killed were from Phongsaly Province, with one from Oudomxay.
CCTV footage captured the moment the vehicle went over the edge, with rescuers immediately called to the scene.
Personnel from Oudomxay Red Cross entered the water in search of wreckage or survivors, but murky water deeper than ten meters in some parts slowed rescue efforts.
