The body of a woman who jumped from a bridge into the Ngum River was recovered on Thursday after a four-day search in Vientiane’s Pak Ngum district.

Emergency services were called to the scene after witnesses reported the woman jumping from the bridge on Sunday evening.

Rescuers spent four days searching the area to locate the missing woman, eventually locating her body in the Ngum River.

Authorities say the reason the woman jumped remains unknown, however, it is suspected to be suicide.

The woman, identified as 18-year-old Ms. Chai from Bolikhamxay Province, was pronounced dead after being brought to the banks of the river.
