The Ministry of National Defence’s Communications Department has taken charge of the new CCTVs installed in Vientiane Capital, as part of a refurbishment project started on 24 August 2022, by the private company KPG Communications Sole Co. Ltd. 

The project aimed to restore, repair, and also install new CCTVs across 93 locations in Vientiane Capital. Upgraded equipment includes 112 CCTV cameras at six locations for capturing license plate numbers, 66 pan, tilt, zoom (PTZ) robotic cameras, 49 bullet cameras, one panoramic camera, and six backup cameras.

The project which cost KIP 31 billion was handed over to Lao authorities at a signing ceremony on Monday. The event was attended by the Director General of the General Police Department, Major General Khamking Phouilamanivong, and Sengtavan Khammavong, Director of KPG Communications.

According to Lao Security News, the project’s objective was to enhance safety and security across the capital, while also improving surveillance capacities for relevant authorities.
