The Department of Environment and Natural Resources announced the total revenue generated from land deed issuance in the past year at the annual summary meeting in Vientiane Capital on 4 May.

During the annual summary meeting for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Bounsom Songvilay, Head of the Department, announced that the Department was able to issue 21,869 land deeds in 2022.

From January to April of this year, the Department has already issued 8,579 land deeds. Additionally, the Department was able to exceed its target, issuing 12,307 out of the 10,000 deeds provided by the Vientiane People’s Council, achieving a success rate of 123%. This year, the Department has been provided with 23,498 deeds to issue, of which 3,887, or 17%, have been already released.

Moreover, the Department successfully scanned 65,766 physical deed documents into its secure server in a digital format, which is 328.83% more than the 20,000 deeds provided by the Vientiane People’s Council. The Department also transferred deeds to 31,859 new owners, earning approximately LAK 2.87 billion in income.

Additionally, the Department issued 113 land deeds to people who were impacted by the construction of the Laos-China railway and the Vientiane-Vang Vieng highway, spanning 27 villages in three districts.
