The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Hospital, built with financial aid from the Vietnamese government with a construction cost of USD 21.3 million, opened in Xieng Khouang province on Wednesday.
According to Lao Youth Radio, the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Hospital, with 200 beds and advanced medical technology, will address the healthcare needs of the people in the province.
The hospital was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Standing Vice Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee, Mr. Viengsavanh Vilayphone.
In his speech, Mr. Vilayphone expressed his deep gratitude to the government and people of Vietnam for their support in building the new hospital. According to him, this project symbolizes the long-time solidarity and mutual support between the two countries.
Lao Deputy Minister of Health Mr. Snong Thongsna added that the new hospital in Xiang Khouang will make significant contributions to the development of Laos’ healthcare sector.
The hospital is the largest of its kind in the region and its personnel have been trained with support from Vietnam. This will allow the hospital to provide high-quality healthcare to the people of Xiang Khouang province and beyond.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong, who was present at the inauguration ceremony, said that the project contributes to strengthening the friendly relations, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
