A Lao national was shot dead in Ubon Ratchathani province in Thailand, on Wednesday, and local police report that he was killed due to a family dispute.

According to Thairath, the man has been identified as 55-year-old Lao national Kittiyano Bounsuan, who left Laos for Thailand several years ago.

The Thai authorities found Kittiyano collapsed on the roadside along with a motorbike in Ubon Ratchathani province. He was shot in the face, chest, and abdomen. Ballistics experts are currently investigating bullets found at the scene to find out more about the incident.

The body of the 55-year-old was then transported to a local hospital in Ubon Ratchathani for autopsy.

A close friend of Kittiyano told the police that the 55-year-old had borrowed his motorbike on Tuesday, saying that he had to meet up with an acquaintance, before going missing and being found dead the next day.

Thai authorities suspect that one of Kittiyano Bounsuan’s relatives killed him due to a long-standing grudge. The 55-year-old was in the process of immigrating to Australia before his death.
