Singapore’s First Professional 3×3 Basketball Team Reaches All-Time High in FIBA 3×3 World Rankings

This Week

Having reached world No. 35, Jumpshot SG continues to raise Singapore’s 3×3 profile with blend of global talent, local ambition and youth development.

SINGAPORE, Oct. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Jumpshot Singapore, the nation’s first professional 3×3 basketball team, has reached a new milestone by climbing to #35 in the FIBA 3×3 Team Rankings, the highest-ever position achieved by a Singapore-based professional team. This breakthrough on the global stage underscores Jumpshot’s growing competitiveness and its mission to professionalise 3×3 basketball in Singapore and the region.

“Breaking into the world’s top 40 is an important step for both our team and Singapore basketball,” said Ms Esther Quek, Founder and CEO of Jumpshot Singapore. “It shows that with the right structure, vision, and perseverance, Singaporean teams can compete at the highest level.”

A Team Built on Experience and Local Development

Jumpshot’s rise in the international rankings has been driven by a core of experienced professionals and ambitious local talent. The team’s core features Filip Krämer from Austria and Hungary’s Attila Demeter, both seasoned 3×3 and 5×5 players who bring leadership, discipline and chemistry to the court. They are joined by global standouts such as reigning FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup MVP and gold medallist Dillon Stith (Australia), FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup MVP and silver medallist Omer Sadeh (Israel), Marek Klassen (Canada), Jose Blázquez (Spain), Diego De Blas (Spain), Charalampos Kiousis (Greece) and Jakob Strel (Slovenia), all of whom have represented their countries on the international stage, bringing an abundance of experience and pedigree to the Jumpshot roster.

Alongside these international stalwarts, Jumpshot continues to invest in emerging Singaporean players such as Sergul Toh, Ron Teh, and Jackson Mah, giving them exposure to international competition and mentoring opportunities. This combination of seasoned leadership and home-grown talent has become the hallmark of Jumpshot’s playing philosophy.

“The most sustainable way to build a strong team is to mix world-class experience with local drive,” said Demeter, who also serves as a coach and mentor within Jumpshot’s youth programme. “It raises standards across the board and helps young Singaporean players gain the confidence to compete internationally.”

Toh concurred as he shared how the team’s platform has allowed fellow Singaporeans to continue pursuing their competitive sporting ambitions.

“As a working adult in Singapore, opportunities to step onto the international stage and compete against elite players are admittedly scarce,” he said. “Jumpshot has given us a consistent platform to keep training and playing at a high level, keeping our competitive dreams alive even as we balance the realities of adult life.”

Together, these athletes have helped Jumpshot to establish itself as one of Asia’s most consistent and competitive professional 3×3 teams. Over the past season, the team has secured podium finishes across multiple tournaments in Penang, Seoul, Taipei, Hongcheon and Singapore, ultimately culminating in two international championship titles – the Yunnan 3×3 Grand Final in Kunming and the second season of the Jumpshot 3×3 right here in Singapore.

The Kunming victory marked the first-ever international 3×3 title for a Singaporean team, with national player Jackson Mah on the roster. The subsequent win on home soil featured two local players, underscoring Jumpshot’s commitment towards blending international experience and promising Singaporean talents.

Coaching Excellence and the Jumpshot 3×3 Academy

At the heart of Jumpshot’s mission is the Jumpshot 3×3 Academy, a youth development platform led by Demeter, Krämer, and Tan Kang Yi, Singapore’s first female professional 3×3 player. The Academy focuses on holistic athlete development, combining technical training, mental conditioning, leadership, and tactical court awareness.

Since its inception, the Academy has produced several promising players who have achieved top finishes at prominent local tournaments such as Pesta Sukan, Pink Warriors 3×3 and Locker Room 3×3. It continues to expand its reach to schools and community clubs, nurturing the next generation of Singaporean basketball talent.

“We are building an ecosystem, not just a team,” said Ms Quek. “The Academy is where our long-term vision comes to life, and it is proof that when you bring in world-class coaches and pair them with Singapore’s next generation, the results follow. We want young athletes to see a future in 3×3 basketball here at home.”

Building the 3×3 Ecosystem in Singapore and Beyond

Beyond competition, Jumpshot has played a leading role in developing the 3×3 ecosystem locally. In January 2024, it organised Singapore’s first 3×3 event held inside a shopping mall, capturing the sport’s urban energy and accessibility, and will continue to host this annual gathering of the region’s top teams in 2025 and beyond. This builds on a long history of innovation: in 2012, Jumpshot became the first local organiser to host a FIBA-endorsed 3×3 event, the Singapore Big Three, which helped lay the foundation for the growth of 3×3 basketball nationwide.

“From hosting community events to competing on the international stage, our aim has always been to make basketball exciting and accessible,” said Ms Quek. “We are proud to have created something that connects athletes and fans around the world while nurturing home-grown talent.”

These initiatives are part of Jumpshot’s broader ambition to establish Singapore as a regional hub for 3×3 basketball, combining professional competition, event management, and media production to grow the sport sustainably. This in line with the nation’s focus on the format in recent years, which include playing host to consecutive runs of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup as well as the upcoming FIBA 3×3 World Cup in 2027.

A Vision Beyond the Court

Since its founding, Jumpshot Singapore has evolved from a community platform into a professional sporting organisation. Ms Quek’s experience in both sports management and marketing has shaped Jumpshot’s holistic approach, integrating competition, youth development, and audience engagement.

“Our goal has always been bigger than winning tournaments,” Ms Quek explained. “We are building pathways, opportunities, and a culture around 3×3 basketball in Singapore. This ranking validates our approach, but what matters most is the ecosystem we’re creating for future generations.”

Looking ahead, Jumpshot continues to grow the sport through youth engagement and education. The upcoming Junior Pink Warriors 3×3 Camp will feature Carlos Martínez, the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2025 Champion and Spain’s number one 3×3 player. The camp aims to inspire young athletes by building their skills, teamwork and confidence, while promoting inclusivity and gender diversity in basketball.

“The Junior Pink Warriors Camp is more than just training.” added Academy coach Tan. “It is about empowering our youth to dream bigger dreams and believe in their potential. With world class players to impart their knowledge, we wish to bring Singapore basketball to the next level.”
