Agricultural exports moving through the First Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge (Nong Khai–Vientiane) exceeded USD 9.7 million in January, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
A total of 32,444 tonnes of crops, plant products, and wood were shipped through the checkpoint during the month, underscoring the bridge’s role as a key gateway for Lao agricultural trade.
Cassava starch accounted for the largest share of export value. More than 19,000 tonnes were exported to China, generating over USD 6 million, while 10,500 tonnes were sent to Vietnam, worth just above USD 2 million.
Smaller volumes were also delivered to Thailand.
Rubber ranked second among major exports, with 817 tonnes shipped primarily to China, valued at approximately USD 1.36 million.
Additional exports included glutinous rice bound for France and wood products sent to Vietnam, Thailand, and China.
Officials said the figures reflect steady regional demand for Lao agricultural products, with China remaining the country’s largest export market for most commodities.
