SKF completes previously announced divestment of its ring and seal operation in Hanover, USA

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — SKF has completed the previously announced divestment of its ring and seal operation in Hanover, Pennsylvania, USA, to Carco PRP Group for a total enterprise value of USD 215 million, corresponding to approximately SEK 2.1 billion. The divestment will result in a capital gain amounting to approximately SEK 0.8 billion in Q2 and will be reported as Items affecting comparability.

“We are committed to create a more focused and resilient SKF to serve our customers even better and to accelerate profitable growth. Divesting this successful but non-core business at accretive multiples is an important part of this. At the same time, we continue to invest and strengthen our position in core Aerospace segments,” says Rickard Gustafson, President and CEO.

Aerospace will remain a large, strategic segment also after the divestment with a share of industrial sales corresponding to approximately 9 percent. Investments in strengthening core aeroengine and structure bearing offerings remain a priority for SKF.

The Hanover divestment is in line with SKF’s strategic review of its aerospace business, communicated on 27 October 2023, to focus on core aerospace business and to exit areas that are non-strategic. As previously announced, the Group is exploring options to exit the precision elastomeric device (PED) aerospace operation in Elgin, Illinois, USA, also identified as non-strategic but smaller than Hanover.

“A Touch of Wuxi” Global Premiere Showcases Enduring Legacy and Modern Dynamism of E China’s Wuxi

WUXI, CHINA – Media OutReach Newswire – 14 April 2025 – This spring, Wuxi, one of China’s most prosperous cities in Yangtze River Delta, has captured global attention with its stunning cherry blossom festival, drawing visitors and investors alike. Now, a new micro-documentary series, “A Touch of Wuxi” offers an intimate look at this city’s blend of livability, technological prowess, and cultural heritage. Premiering on Hungary’s ATV on April 14, and distributed across the world via Xinhua and AP, the series invites international audiences to explore a city where ancient traditions and modern progress intertwine.

By the 20th century, Wuxi emerged as a cornerstone of China’s industrial revolution, driven by pioneering entrepreneurs who turned it into one of the nation’s leading industrial centers. Today, the city continues to lead with its modern industrial clusters, blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to excel in sectors ranging from textiles to advanced manufacturing.

Wuxi’s waterways and landscapes have long inspired artistic expression, from traditional Wu songs and Xiju opera to modern innovations in painting and music. These cultural threads, woven through generations, reflect the poetic spirit of Jiangnan and connect the city’s past with its present.

Education and intellect have also been central to Wuxi’s identity. Since the founding of Donglin Academy in the 11th century, the city has been a hub for practical learning and critical thought. SINGAPORE, April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Looking for your next adventure in 2025? Discover the hottest travel spots and see where fellow travellers are heading with Trip.com’s 2025 Trip.Best global rankings. This annual collection of curated “Top 100” lists covers Stays, Attractions, and Restaurants across the world, offering a comprehensive data-backed AI guide to the best travel experiences of the year.

What’s New in Trip.Best 2025 Ranking Lists

This year’s edition unveils several exciting additions. Significantly, Trip.Best Europe 100 and Americas 100 lists make their debut, expanding the regional rankings beyond the established Global and Asia 100 lists to celebrate more of the world’s best destinations.

Travellers will also find fresh inspiration in two new categories under the Attraction list – Water Fun, highlighting the most loved water parks, beaches and islands, and Fall Views, showcasing the top spots around the globe for autumn foliage vistas. For instance, under the Fall Views category, Japan leads in almost all the top 10 spots with iconic destinations like Arashiyama and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, while China offers picturesque sites such as Jiangxi’s Wuyuan Huangling, celebrated for its terraced fields and traditional architecture, and Qixia Mountain in Nanjing, famed for its vibrant red maple forests. Meanwhile, in the Water Fun category, Thailand’s Racha Yai Island and Indonesia’s Jimbaran Beach are among the top-rated locations for those seeking the ultimate aquatic adventure.

These themed lists tap into rising seasonal wanderlust, from summertime splash pads to springtime sakura or fall leaf-spotting trips. Another new highlight is “Destinations for the Months,” a month-by-month guide to the best places to visit throughout the year. This new feature may suggest, for instance, to visit South Korea’s spots like Yeouido Park in Seoul and Namsan Seoul Tower for cherry blossoms in April, or Kyoto’s enchanting temples for festive winter wonderlands in December, helping globetrotters plan the perfect trip at the perfect time.

Book your flight to Tokyo now and soak in the beauty of Japan’s stunning fall foliage this autumn.

Stays: Luxury Hotels and Family-Friendly Resorts Dominate Global Rankings

In the Stays category, Trip.Best 2025 highlights a worldwide sweep of top accommodation options, from ultra-luxe city hotels to idyllic family resorts. Paris retains its reputation for luxury hospitality, claiming multiple spots in the Global 100 Luxury Hotels ranking. France’s legendary Hotel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris clinched the No.1 position globally, with other Parisian icons like Le Bristol Paris and La Réserve Paris appearing in the top five.

New York also makes its mark, with Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown and The St. Regis New York in the top 10. In Tokyo, Aman Tokyo, and in Singapore, Raffles Singapore are notable mentions, continuing the trend of strong Asian hotel brands dominating the upper echelons of luxury rankings.

Beyond luxury, family-oriented stays and culturally rich hotels are gaining popularity. The 2025 Trip.Best rankings highlight Asia as a leader in kid-friendly resorts, with China, Japan and the United Arab Emirates standing out. For example, China boasts Atlantis Sanya, an expansive resort offering waterparks and beach fun for families. Japan features Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, known for its immersive Disney experience that delights visitors of all ages. In the United Arab Emirates, Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, offers world-class amenities and an unforgettable family adventure. These resorts cater to the growing demand for family-friendly vacations, ensuring fun and comfort for travellers of all ages.

Cultural and Scenic hotels also feature prominently – travellers are seeking stays that offer a sense of place, whether it’s a ryokan-style retreat in the Japanese Alps or a safari lodge in Africa blending luxury with local flavour.

Notably, the “Instagrammable Hotels” category – accommodations prized for their photogenic appeal – is dominated by stylish design hotels in Asia and Europe, a nod to social-media-driven travel inspiration. For instance, the fictional “White Lotus” hotels, featured in the hit HBO series, are real-world luxury resorts, where travellers flock to the featured Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, and San Domenico Palace in Italy. Picture-perfect properties like Mai House Saigon in Vietnam or Good Nature Hotel in Kyoto have also become destinations for the Instagram era.

Across continents, whether it’s a villa in Bali or a ski chalet in Switzerland, Trip.Best’s 2025 hotel rankings capture a broad trend: travellers increasingly seek memorable experiences and unique themes (luxury, family, scenic, etc.) in their accommodations, not just a place to sleep.

Attractions: Theme Parks Take the Lead, While New Seasonal Experiences Emerge

Global travel attractions in 2025 reveal a clear favourite: theme parks. Trip.Best’s Global “Best Things to Do” ranking is overwhelmingly topped by world-famous theme parks, especially in Asia and North America. In fact, six of the global top ten attractions are led by crowd-pullers like Walt Disney World Resort in the US, Universal Studios Japan, Shanghai Disney Resort, and more. These mega-parks continue to draw families and thrill-seekers, demonstrating how theme park tourism is a global trend.

Beyond theme parks, cultural attractions like The Louvre in Paris, The Palace Museum in Beijing and Vatican Museums in Vatican City remain top contenders, showing the continuing demand for art and heritage experiences.

Meanwhile, there is also more emphasis on seasonal and experiential activities. Whether it’s New England’s fiery forests or Japan’s golden temples, leaf-peeping (tourism centred around foliage views) has become a major seasonal pastime.

Restaurants: Fine Dining and Local Culinary Hotspots Shape Global Food Travel

No travel experience is complete without great food, and Trip.Best 2025’s restaurant rankings confirm the importance of culinary travel. This year’s lists – spanning Fine Dining, Local Restaurants, and Restaurants for Views & Experiences – celebrate everything from haute cuisine to beloved local eats. In the Global 100 Fine Dining category, Europe leads the charge with restaurants like Arpège in Paris and Sketch (Lecture Room & Library) in London ranked among the top. Other standouts include Per Se in New York and Le Bernardin, as well as DiverXO in Madrid. Tokyo’s Sushi Saito and Bangkok’s Sorn show that Asia’s culinary scene is gaining ground on the global fine dining stage.

The “Restaurants for Views & Experiences” category also features Korea’s and Dubai’s skyline restaurants, offering travellers dinner with a view as part of their travel experience. From the top of the Burj Khalifa, to Bicena in Seoul, these serve up memorable experiences that combine atmosphere and culinary artistry.

Across local cuisines, Singapore and Thailand stand out as a foodie destination with multiple top-ranked spots like Palm Beach Seafood and Jeh O Chula in Bangkok. These cities’ diverse food scene continues to draw visitors from around the world, cementing their place as rising gastronomic hubs.

SK chemicals to Participate in CHINAPLAS 2025 Showcasing Real-World Sustainable Material Solutions

– Presenting Immediately Applicable Circular Recycling Technologies, Solutions, and Use Cases
– Comprehensive Showcase of Sustainable and Specialty Lineups Including Circular Recycling, Copolyesters, and Bio-Based Materials

SEONGNAM, South Korea, April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — SK chemicals will showcase its technological capabilities at CHINAPLAS, one of the world’s top three plastics exhibitions.

SK chemicals (CEO and President Ahn Jae-hyun) announced on the 13th that it will participate in CHINAPLAS 2025, to be held from April 15 for three days at the Shenzhen World Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangdong Province, China.

CHINAPLAS is recognized as one of the world’s top three chemical industry exhibitions alongside NPE in the U.S. and K show in Germany, and is considered the largest in Asia. This year’s exhibition will be held under the themes of △Transformation △Collaboration △Sustainability, with over 4,000 companies from approximately 150 countries expected to participate and showcase the latest innovative technologies.

At this year’s exhibition, SK chemicals will present its sustainable specialty solutions under the slogan “On-hand solution for sustainable tomorrow.” Rather than presenting future plans or technologies still under development, SK chemicals will focus on showcasing proven and commercially available products—such as the world’s first chemically recycled materials—highlighting sustainable technologies and solutions that can be implemented immediately.

In the field of circular recycled materials based on depolymerization technology, SK chemicals will showcase a lineup of recyclable materials designed with both pre- and post-use recyclability in mind. This includes: △ CLARO, a copolyester classified as post-consumer PET, applied to skincare and makeup products from L’Oréal and Estée Lauder △ SKYPET CR, a PET material used in Samdasoo water bottles and Coldplay’s eco-friendly vinyl records △ ECOTRIA CR, a circular recycled copolyester used in interior tiles by CS Group.

SK chemicals will also exhibit everyday consumer products that feature its flagship materials, including: △ ECOZEN, a high-heat-resistant bio-based copolyester used in various kitchen appliances, food storage containers, baby tableware, and sports bottles △ SKYGREEN, a high-performance PETG applied in cosmetic packaging and iced cups, valued for its exceptional transparency, chemical resistance, and processability.

SK chemicals will also present △ ECOTRION, a 100% plant-based bio polyol used in spandex, synthetic leather, and urethane elastomers △ SKYPEL, a polyester-based elastomer that combines the properties of rubber and engineering plastics, used in automotive parts, industrial hoses, subsea cables, and breathable films, along with related application products.

Ahn Jae-hyun, President of SK chemicals, stated, “Through this exhibition, we aim to clearly demonstrate that a sustainable plastic ecosystem—where plastic products are recycled back into new plastic products—is not a distant future goal, but a solution that can be realized today.” He added, “We will continue to build success cases through close collaboration with leading companies across industries and actively promote our unique technologies and products, including circular recycling solutions.”

SK chemicals’ circular recycling is based on depolymerization technology, which breaks down waste plastics at the molecular level to reuse them as raw materials. Unlike mechanical recycling, it maintains the properties and quality—such as the transparency—equivalent to petroleum-based materials, and offers the added benefit of being recyclable again after use. It can also recycle a wide range of waste plastics—not only clear bottles typically used as recycled feedstock, but also colored containers, films, and trays. SK chemicals, leveraging its world-first commercialization of depolymerization technology, has built a broad lineup of recycled materials ranging from general-purpose PET to high-performance copolyesters such as PETG.

Global Times: UK firms look to enter China market, which greatly supports UK economic growth: trade official

BEIJING, April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — UK companies are looking to enter the China market, which greatly supports UK economic growth, UK Trade Commissioner for China Lewis Neal told the Global Times on Sunday.

His comments were made while attending the China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) in Haikou, South China’s Hainan Province. The UK is serving as the guest of honor at this year’s expo, after debuting a national pavilion at last year’s event, with an exhibition area of more than 1,300 square meters and 53 participating brands, double the number from last year.

“We’re very excited to be here as the country of honor. Behind the consumer goods expo, the theme of our pavilion is where heritage meets modern excellence… and we’ve got 27 companies to showcase what they have for the China market,” Neal said.

“We know the Chinese consumer is very ‘discerning.’ I’m looking for heritage, quality, and affordability and that is what we think of the products we brought today,” he said.

Headed by Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade Douglas Alexander, the UK business delegation consists of 27 British companies spanning sectors such as food and beverages, healthcare, beauty, home and lifestyle, sports and outdoor, and fashion, showcasing the vitality and diverse strengths of British brands, according to information that the British Embassy in China shared with the Global Times on Sunday.

At the expo, the UK government will host a variety of activities and experiences, including product launches, business matchmaking and networking receptions, to explore how the UK and China can work together to further deepen their trade partnership.

The CICPE is what Neal described as a unique platform for Chinese businesses, investors and consumers to connect with UK companies, and it is also an important opportunity for the UK to reaffirm its commitment as a key trading partner of China.

China is the world’s second-largest economy and it is one of the UK’s largest trading partners across all areas of the economy from financial services to manufacturing, to life sciences, healthcare and consumer goods, where demand is growing, said Neal.

China is an important market for UK businesses, with exports to China supporting nearly 500,000 jobs in the UK, according to the British Embassy. Meanwhile, China is the UK’s fifth-largest trading partner, and as of the end of the third quarter of 2024, trade between the two countries reached 89 billion pounds ($116 billion), per the embassy.
