HD Renewable Energy’s 50MW Storage Project in Hokkaido Completes Grid Connection – Set for Commercial Operation by Year-End to Enter Japanese Power Market

TAIPEI, Aug. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Taiwan-based smart energy company HD Renewable Energy (HDRE, TWSE: 6873) announced that the large-scale energy storage facility “Helios” (50MW/104MWh), jointly developed with alternative investment manager Brawn Capital in Sapporo, Hokkaido, has successfully completed grid connection to the 66kV transmission network of Hokkaido Electric Power at the end of July. The project has now entered the final stage of hot commissioning ahead of commercial operation, which remains on track for the end of 2025. HDRE has invested approximately JPY 5.9 billion into the project, marking a significant milestone in its Japanese energy storage expansion.

Helios BESS (50MW/104MWh) in Sapporo, Hokkaido, jointly developed by HD Renewable Energy and Brawn Capital
Helios BESS (50MW/104MWh) in Sapporo, Hokkaido, jointly developed by HD Renewable Energy and Brawn Capital

Designed to enhance grid flexibility and support renewable energy integration, the Helios project will contribute to system stability and peak load management. Once operational, the energy storage assets will be managed by Star Trade, HDRE’s subsidiary specializing in electricity retail and energy storage integration. Leveraging Star Trade’s AI-powered trading and asset optimization platform, the project will participate in Japan’s capacity market, spot market, and balancing markets. Its dual revenue model— “tolling” plus “merchant”—aims to combine steady cash flow with additional market-driven returns.

Jason Chou, Chairman of Star Trade and General Manager of HD Renewable Energy, said, “Japan is one of our most important international markets. We will continue to strengthen strategic partnerships to accelerate the adoption of smart energy solutions, helping Japanese enterprises increase renewable penetration and contributing to the global energy transition.”

HDRE has been steadily building its presence in Japan. In April 2024, it established a joint venture with Mitsubishi Electric to focus on energy resource aggregation (ERA). The company also partnered with Tokyu Land Corporation to co-invest in a storage project in Gunma Prefecture, which secured approximately JPY 1.19 billion in subsidies from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s program supporting large-scale storage for renewable energy expansion.

Furthermore, HDRE became the first Taiwanese company to win bids in Japan’s Long-Term Decarbonization Power Source Market (LTDA) storage capacity auctions, securing a total of 400MW across 2024 and 2025. These projects are scheduled to commence operation between 2028 and 2029, with continued participation in future LTDA tenders planned for 2026.

The Breakthrough Therapy designation, introduced by the NMPA, is a key initiative aimed at accelerating the development and approval of innovative medicines that offer significant clinical benefits. With this designation, ATG-022 will receive priority review resources, reducing the overall research and development timeline and enabling faster access for patients in China. This follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) granting of Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) to ATG-022 for the treatment of gastric and pancreatic cancers, highlighting its strong clinical potential across multiple tumor types.

In the ongoing CLINCH Phase I/II clinical study, data show that ATG-022 demonstrated significant antitumor activity and a favorable safety profile in patients with gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma across high, low, and ultra-low CLDN18.2 expression levels.

  • CLDN18.2 Moderate-to-high expression (IHC 2+ > 20%)
    • 2.4 mg/kg Cohort
    • Objective Response Rate (ORR): 40% (12/30), including 1 Complete Response (CR)
    • Disease Control Rate (DCR): 90% (27/30)
    • Median Progression-free Survival (mPFS): 6.97 months
    • 6-month PFS Rate: 51.1%
    • 9-month Overall Survival (OS) Rate: 82.7%
    • 12-month OS Rate: 66.2%

    • 1.8 mg/kg Cohort
    • ORR: 40% (10/25), including 1 CR
    • DCR: 84% (21/25)
  • CLDN18.2 Low and Ultra-low expression (IHC 2+ ≤ 20%)
    • Efficacious dose range of 1.8-2.4 mg/kg
    • ORR: 33.3% (6/18), including 1 CR
    • DCR: 50% (9/18)
    • Notably, some responding patients had CLDN18.2 expression levels below 5%, underscoring the robust antitumor activity of ATG-022 in both low- and ultra-low-expression populations.

To date, three patients in the study have achieved CR during treatment, with one case observed in each of the three aforementioned cohorts (i.e., both dose levels in the CLDN18.2 moderate-to-high expressor cohorts and the CLDN18.2 low and ultra-low expressor cohort). This broad-spectrum antitumor activity positions ATG-022 as a potential new treatment option for a wider patient population compared with other CLDN18.2-targeted therapies.

Antengene is currently conducting the Phase II dose-expansion stage of ATG-022 in the Mainland of China and Australia, with the program now entering mid-to-late stage of clinical validation. The company will continue to advance the clinical development of ATG-022 in gastric cancer while exploring its potential in other CLDN18.2-positive tumors. For gastric cancer indications, the development strategy spans first- through third-line treatment:

  • First-line treatment (CLDN18.2 IHC 1+ ≥1%, PD-L1 CPS ≥1%): ATG-022 in combination with pembrolizumab and chemotherapy (CAPOX/FOLFOX)
  • Second-line treatment (CLDN18.2 IHC 1+ ≥1%, PD-L1 CPS ≥1%): ATG-022 in combination with pembrolizumab
  • Third-line treatment (CLDN18.2 IHC 2+): ATG-022 monotherapy, covering patients across different CLDN18.2 expression levels, including CLDN18.2 moderate-to-high expressor (2+ >20%), and low and ultra-low expressors (2+ ≤20%)

In addition, the ongoing Phase II study includes a basket trial cohort covering multiple tumor types. In a certain subtype of gynecologic tumor, all 7 patients who had undergone at least one efficacy assessment demonstrated tumor shrinkage, indicating significant clinical potential for ATG-022 in other CLDN18.2-positive tumors. This cohort remains open for enrollment and follow-up, and the continued data generation is expected to further strengthen the robust value proposition of ATG-022 across multiple tumor types.

CIMB Singapore Launches CIMB FlexiPay: A First-of-its-kind, Revenue-Based Loan for SMEs

It aims to empower SMEs with a fully digital, revenue-based loan that adapts to daily cash flow.

SINGAPORE, Aug. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — CIMB Singapore today announced the launch of CIMB FlexiPay – an innovative “pay-as-you-earn” loan designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with smarter, flexible access to financing.

The first of its kind in Singapore, CIMB FlexiPay links repayments directly to a business’ daily revenue. On days with no revenue, no repayment is required. This fully digital solution is designed to ease cash flow pressures while removing the traditional barriers SMEs face in securing financing.

Addressing SMEs’ Biggest Pain Point: Cash Flow

SMEs remain one of the most underserved segments in banking. Many of them struggle with seasonal, irregular or unpredictable income, making monthly repayments a challenge. CIMB FlexiPay addresses this gap with a loan that adjusts to a company’s performance, ensuring businesses repay only when they earn.

Key Features of CIMB FlexiPay

  • Revenue-linked repayments: Automatically deducted from daily deposits based on a business’ selected holdback rate*. For example, if the selected holdback rate* is 5% and the business earns S$1,000 in a day, S$50 will be repaid that day. On days with no revenue, no repayment is required.
  • Management with full certainty and transparency: Pay a single upfront fee – no interest, no prepayment fees, and no late fees.
  • Fully digital process: No physical forms or document submissions required. Customers can accept loan offers digitally.

“With CIMB FlexiPay’s pay-as-you-earn structure, SMEs gain flexibility, transparency and control in managing their financing. This innovation reflects our commitment to rethinking traditional banking and supporting businesses with solutions that truly adapt to their cash flow realities,” said Benjamin Tan, Head of Commercial & Transaction Banking, CIMB Singapore. “By removing traditional barriers and offering a seamless digital experience, we aim to help businesses grow with confidence.”
