NEXTBIOMEDICAL Secures Health Canada Approval for Nexsphere-F™ in Musculoskeletal Pain Embolization

SEOUL, South Korea, Jan. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — NEXTBIOMEDICAL CO., LTD. (KOSDAQ: 389650), an innovative medical device company based in South Korea, announced today that Nexsphere-F™, the company’s novel fast resorbable microsphere for musculoskeletal pain embolization has received approval from Health Canada.

Nexsphere-F™ is a fast resorbable microsphere designed for musculoskeletal pain embolization. It temporarily occludes abnormal blood vessels associated with osteoarthritis-related pain using resorbable microspheres, inducing necrosis of pain-generating nerve cells within 2 to 8 hours after the procedure and effectively reducing pain. Unlike permanent microspheres, Nexsphere-F™ is designed to naturally dissolve after embolization, significantly lowering the risk of post-procedural complications and supporting the growing clinical demand for osteoarthritis pain embolization.

In addition to Canadian approval, Nexsphere-F™ is currently the only resorbable embolic microsphere certified under CE-MDD for osteoarthritis pain embolization, and is commercialized in major European countries. At CIRSE 2025, the annual congress of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe, Dr. Florian Nima Fleckenstein (Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Berlin, Germany) presented, “Using rapidly resorbable, gelatin-based microspheres(Nexsphere-F™) for knee osteoarthritis pain embolization resulted in significant improvements in pain and function, while demonstrating favorable safety compared to permanent microspheres or antibiotic-based compounds.” These findings were recently reported by Interventional News, a leading interventional radiology news.

Furthermore, a study published in Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine (OJSM) highlighted the clinical efficacy and safety of Nexsphere-F™ for patients with patellar tendinopathy, a condition frequently seen in athletes. Additional clinical studies have reported its application in a wide range of musculoskeletal pain, including knee osteoarthritis, medial epicondylitis, plantar fasciitis.

The company is conducting multiple post-market clinical trials across several countries to further evaluate the efficacy and safety of Nexsphere-F™ for various indications, including osteoarthritis, patellar tendinopathy, elbow, wrist, plantar fasciitis, and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Nexsphere-F™ previously received Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and subsequently initiated a pivotal clinical trial for FDA approval, which is moving forward as planned. The study, named RESORB (Randomized Controlled Study Evaluating Genicular Artery Embolization Against Intra-Articular Corticosteroid Knee Injection for Osteoarthritic Knee Pain), is a multicenter, randomized controlled trial involving 126 patients with knee osteoarthritis across more than 10 U.S. clinical sites. The trial aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of genicular artery embolization (GAE) with Nexsphere-F™ compared to intra-articular corticosteroid injections, with patient enrollment targeted to be completed within the first half of this year.

The company is currently in discussions with leading global partners regarding global distribution rights and is focusing its resources on accelerating the ongoing U.S. regulatory clinical trial to support successful entry into the North American market.

Cheche Group Announces Strategic Cooperation with Volkswagen DSSO and Cardif Airstar Insurance to Build Digital Insurance System with Intelligent Pricing Model

BEIJING, Jan. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Cheche Group Inc. (NASDAQ: CCG) (“Cheche” or the “Company”), China’s leading auto insurance technology platform, today announced that Volkswagen (Anhui) Digital Sales and Services Co., Ltd. (“DSSO”), Beijing Cardif Airstar Property & Casualty Insurance Co., Ltd. (“Cardif Airstar Insurance”), and Cheche Group Inc. held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony on January 29, 2026. They will collaborate to develop digital insurance services for Volkswagen owners and expand into areas such as intelligent pricing, intelligent‑driving insurance, and non‑auto insurance. The partnership aims to establish a digital financial and insurance service system covering the full lifecycle of electric vehicle ownership.

DSSO is a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and a core enterprise within Volkswagen Group’s Intelligent Electric Vehicle Center in Hefei. Cardif Airstar Insurance is a Sino‑foreign joint venture property and casualty insurer, with BNP Paribas Cardif, Volkswagen Financial Services Overseas AG and Xiaomi Corporation as its shareholders. Cheche provides insurance services and digital platforms for DSSO.

Pursuant to the strategy, Volkswagen owners will access services through a unified digital entry point within the automaker’s app across electric vehicle purchase, usage, insurance, and financial service scenarios. Cardif Airstar Insurance will provide insurance product design and underwriting services, while Cheche will deliver one‑stop digital solutions through its embedded insurance SaaS system.

In the field of intelligent pricing, Cheche has established an industry-leading, full‑chain, dynamic data loop. The system integrates driving‑behavior data from intelligent connected vehicles—including rapid acceleration, hard braking, and steering‑angle indicators—together with road‑condition data, in‑vehicle interaction frequency, and industry claims data. This process generates a unique “risk profile” for each Volkswagen owner. With the support of AI‑based pricing and anti‑fraud models, these data points are transformed into precise pricing factors to achieve differentiated premiums under the principle of “better driving, better pricing.”

Cheche’s pricing model also features dynamic learning capabilities. By connecting to automaker’s electric power control systems with insurer direct repair program networks, real‑time claims data flows back into the model for parameter calibration, forming a positive cycle of “risk identification → pricing → claims → optimization.” As cooperation deepens, the partners will extend this intelligent pricing system into intelligent‑driving insurance, helping to address the challenge of liability determination in intelligent‑driving scenarios and to provide a practical reference for industry innovation.

“Today’s signing marks the beginning of a shared vision among all parties. By integrating data, technology, real‑world scenarios, and ecosystem resources, we will deliver a more seamless and intelligent service experience to Volkswagen owners. This cooperation enables us to jointly build solutions that support the full lifecycle of electric vehicle use and achieve meaningful improvements in service quality,” said Mr. Lei Zhang, founder and CEO of Cheche.

The three parties jointly witnessed the signing ceremony and committed to continue collaborating to serve Volkswagen owners, enabling users to benefit from comprehensive solutions built on data, technology, and collaborative ecosystems and experience meaningful improvements in service quality.

Saudi Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Board of the NCP, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, stated:
“In the Kingdom, we strive to establish future-ready infrastructure with high quality and efficiency, ensuring that public services delivered to citizens, residents, and visitors are among the best in the world, while strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a global reference in public-private partnerships.”

The National Privatization Strategy aims to increase resident and visitor satisfaction with public services across 18 targeted sectors, create tens of thousands of high-quality jobs, sign more than 220 PPP contracts by 2030, and mobilize over $64 billion (SAR 240 billion) in private capital investments by 2030.

The launch of the Strategy marks the transition from the foundational phase – successfully completed under the 2018 Privatization Program – to a new phase focused on execution and accelerating delivery. The Strategy will open up new sectors for private sector investment locally and internationally, including transport and logistics, water, health and education infrastructure and real estate, enable participation in larger and more complex projects, increase financing opportunities, as well as accelerate new partnerships and reinvestment in mature projects.

The government will seek partners for projects including the Saudi Landbridge linking east and west coasts through Riyadh, several education infrastructure projects, water desalination, treatment and strategic reservoir, as well as international airports.

The Strategy establishes five core programs related to planning, regulation, human capital, awareness and prioritization, to enable and advance the privatization ecosystem. These are supported by 42 executive initiatives to achieve its objectives and contribute to Vision 2030 privatization targets. It also includes an executive program dedicated to identifying and prioritizing privatization opportunities, with more than 145 priority opportunities identified—representing attractive investment prospects for the private sector.

The 2018 Privatization Program has achieved several key milestones, most notably the establishment of the National Center for Privatization & PPP (NCP), the approval of more than 200 projects with estimated total investments of approximately $213 billion, and the signing of nearly 90 contracts, including asset sale and PPP contracts across multiple sectors.

The Program also contributed to strengthening private sector participation, enhancing the operational efficiency of government assets, and advancing the legislative and regulatory environment that supports investment – thereby supporting economic diversification goals and improving the Kingdom’s competitiveness regionally and globally.

MicuRx Announces FDA Clearance of IND Application to Proceed to Phase 2a Trial of MRX-5 in Patients with Mycobacterium abscessus Pulmonary Disease

FOSTER CITY, Calif., Jan. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — MicuRx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (“MicuRx”), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel anti-infective therapies for drug-resistant bacterial infections, recently announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared its Investigational New Drug (IND) application for MRX-5, enabling the company to initiate a Phase 2a clinical trial in patients with Mycobacterium abscessus pulmonary disease.

M. abscessus pulmonary disease is a serious and prevalent non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infection associated with high morbidity, prolonged treatment regimens, and limited effective therapeutic options. Current treatments often require multi-drug combinations over extended periods and are frequently complicated by poor tolerability and suboptimal outcomes.

MRX-5 is a novel oral antibacterial agent designed to target NTM. In preclinical studies, MRX-5 demonstrated potent activity against clinical isolates of M. abscessus, including strains resistant to existing standard-of-care therapies. The compound has also shown favorable pharmacokinetic and safety profiles in nonclinical and clinical studies.

“The FDA’s clearance of our IND for MRX-5 represents an important milestone for MicuRx and for patients suffering from M. abscessus pulmonary disease,” said President of MicuRx Jerry (Zhiyue) Li “This approval allows us to advance MRX-5 into a Phase 2a clinical trial,  which aim to assess its safety, and efficacy in patients with M. abscessus pulmonary disease.”

The Phase 2a trial is a multicenter study in the United States designed to evaluate MRX-5 in adults with confirmed M. abscessus pulmonary disease. The trial is expected to generate important clinical data to inform subsequent development  milestones.

This IND clearance further expands MicuRx’s clinical pipeline of anti-infective drugs, reinforcing the company’s commitment to addressing global challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance and difficult-to-treat bacterial infections.

About MRX-5

MRX-5 is a next-generation antibacterial agent being developed by MicuRx for the treatment of non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, including M. abscessus. The compound is designed for oral administration and aims to provide a more effective and tolerable treatment option.

FDA granted orphan drug designation to MRX-5 for the treatment of NTM infections in 2024.
