Enter The Multiverse of Artist Santu Song
Renowned Chinese Contemporary Artist Stages First Open-To-Public Exhibition At ION Art Featuring Digital Art, NFTs & Official Santu Web3 Club
SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 2 May 2023 – For the first time in Singapore, contemporary artist Santu Song, one of China’s most celebrated artistic personalities of our generation, presents her digital artworks, NFTs and her official Santu Web3 Club, in an immersive exhibition at ION Art, entitles Santu’s Multiverse.

In the Santu’s Multiverse art exhibition, the artist juxtaposes nature, spirituality, and humanity with technology, presenting her bright, cheery creations in a different light, propagating the flourishing of human existence and experiences through her contemporary artworks that are inherently numinous and profoundly rooted in shamanism and otherworldly mysteries of the Universe, evident in her artworks in the form of their totem-like configurations, colours and the liberal use of symbols like ‘eyes’, which reflects the viewers’ souls, and gigantic ‘blossoms’ that represent feminine beauty, strength and unity, while revealing the might of Mother Nature in a digitised world.
Her creations, though cheerfully presented, call into question the significance of digitisation in human flourishing, which is the purest of all human endeavours, and the purpose of a well-lived life, our place in the larger scheme of things.
Best known for her large floral art installations throughout China, the contemporary artist propagates the flourishing of human existence and experiences through her contemporary artworks that are inherently numinous and profoundly rooted in shamanism and otherworldly mysteries of the Universe, evident in her artworks in the form of their totem-like configurations, colours and the liberal use of symbols like ‘eyes’, which reflects the viewers’ souls, and gigantic ‘blossoms’ that represent feminine beauty, strength and unity, and revealing the might of Mother Nature.
Santu has often been likened by the Chinese media to Pablo Picasso, who happens to be one of Santu’s favourite artists, and was hailed as the “Female Picasso of the New Era”. She often draws on inspiration from a particular quote by the Father of Cubism – “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls” – and believes that it is in the Arts that humanity confides, to express lament, faith, and hope, especially in perilous times of war and uncertainties.
Born and raised in Shanghai, Santu was accepted by the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London at the tender age of 15. She continued her education in the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she pursued a Master’s degree in Filmmaking.
Over the years, she has exhibited her artworks in several international art shows, including Art Basel and SCOPE International Contemporary Art Show in Miami, and in several private shows in London, and she was commissioned by corporations and luxury brands, such as K11 Art Mall in Beijing, Shanghai W Hotel, Montblanc and Cadillac to create large, installation artworks for public spaces and events.
Her well-loved works have been hailed as ‘neoteric’ and her message ‘progressive’ and ‘visionary’ by many, and she now hopes to bring her art and vision to an even wider audience in Europe, America and the rest of Asia, through collaborations, exclusive showcases, and commission works by internationally renowned brands such as Dolce & Gabbana.
The Santu Web3 Club is powered by Supercharge, a groundbreaking platform that merges gamification, rewards, and community ownership with the power of web 3 technology, specially crafted to enable communities and businesses to unlock their full potential and establish enduring relationships with their members. Powered by AI, DAO and gamification tools that leverage web 3 technology for an unparalleled experience, Supercharge is poised to revolutionise the brand community and amplify customer loyalty.
Santu Song invites you to delve into her arcane world that is filled with a myriad of otherworldly sensory and existential perceptions, and emblematic denotations – while humankind attempts to coalesce, and perhaps even reconcile, beliefs with futuristic technology
Santu’s Multiverse will be held from 3rd to 12th of May 2023 at ION Art, Level 4, ION Orchard, No 2 Orchard Turn, Singapore 238801, and is open to public daily. Visitors to Santu’s Multiverse will receive an original NFT by the artist.
Please check the official event website for timings as the exhibition may be closed for private events.

Gateway Arts Brings To The Stage Its Digital Blockbuster The Monster in the Mirror
A pop musical that shows us how to treat ourselves better
SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 2 May 2023 – “Can someone tell me how to be? Can I be someone who isn’t me?” As The Monster in the Mirror‘s original song Pale Blue Horizon goes, these questions are still of paramount importance to youths today as they struggle to find a space and identity for themselves. Gateway Arts’ much-anticipated live staging of The Monster in the Mirror this May takes on these questions as a hilarious and heart-warming musical, which unravels the psychological journey of a teenage girl through the trials and tribulations of growing up in the modern world. Adapted from Gateway Arts’ highly successful 2021 musical digital production, it was previously seen by an audience of over 11,500 and received rave reviews from audiences and fellow artists alike.

The musical follows the journey of Jane, an average schoolgirl navigating the stressful world of teenage politics and social media drama. Jane is bullied in school, constantly nagged at home, and tormented by the self-critical voice in her head until she receives a magic mirror from a flamboyant Fairy God Delivery Beng. This mirror brings to life the monster that has been living in her head; the voice that has been turning her world upside down with self-doubt. Through her journey, Jane learns to forgive and love herself, while finding a confident voice amidst the challenges of growing up in today’s world.
Developed based on research, interviews, and talks with teenagers, parents and mental health professionals, the show aims to represent the inner struggles that are relatable to most youths. The production is created by Bitesize Theatre Productions, developed under the Gateway Arts Collective-In-Residence Programme 2020-2021.
Opening at the Gateway Theatre from 12 to 27 May 2023, the theatrical production is headlined by Ah Boys to Men star Noah Yap as the story’s iconic Fairy God Delivery Beng. In his theatrical starring role, the popular “beng” infuses his signature wit and humour into his character while adding charm and glitter. He stars alongside a talented cast featuring Sharon Sum, Andrea Alingalan, Estelle Fly, Sharon Mah, Ryan Ang and Zulfiqar Izzudin, creating a visual spectacle with toe-tapping original tunes, dazzling dance numbers and theatrically magical moments that will leave audiences entertained and moved.
“Having worked with youths, I see many struggles with self-acceptance. Many amplify the flaws in their minds, putting up masks and facades to hide their fears instead of embracing themselves as who they are,” recounts Priscilla Khong-Espinosa, Executive Director of Gateway Arts. “Regardless of age, we are our harshest critics. More so in a digital era where we compare ourselves to unrealistic images on social media of what we believe we should look or be like. I hope that the show and post-show segments can spark discussion and self-reflection amongst audiences.”
Terrance Tan, writer and director of The Monster in the Mirror, expresses his excitement for moving the production from film to stage, “The stage is a very different medium from film. With film, I had to present a certain naturalism. But with the stage, there is more room to play with the surreal and heightened dramatics of the show. Jane is someone who doodles and draws a lot, so we wondered: what if her sketches come to life and we see her life through them? That is the biggest change from the film and I’m very excited for audiences to discover all sorts of surprises from that.”
“This musical has been created by youth for youth. The story and characters are from their world and recognisable to their peers. Many in the team have experienced their own mental health challenges and hope to let others know that they are not alone,” remarks Juliet Chia, Producer of The Monster in the Mirror.
Award-winning creatives Alberta Wileo, Petrina Dawn Tan and Loo An Ni are also elevating the live production of The Monster in the Mirror with their magical touch, promising to deliver a performance that is both visually and theatrically entertaining. Set Designer Petrina, Costume Designer An Ni, and Lighting Designer Alberta have all bagged honours in their respective categories at the “Life! Theatre Awards”, with Petrina and An Ni clinching the award in 2020 and Alberta having won in 2022.
In collaboration with TOUCH Mental Wellness (a service of TOUCH Community Services), the musical tackles important mental health issues and self-love, providing a timely tale that empowers youth and encourages them to seek support. It sheds light on the expectations placed on today’s youth, reducing the stigma and shame surrounding mental health issues and identifying the dangers of social media.
Ms Andrea Chan, Assistant Director of TOUCH Mental Wellness, acknowledges that the struggles depicted in the musical will resonate with some youths in society. “We aspire for youths to have good mental wellness, allowing them to cope well with stress, be productive at school, and realise their full potential. The Arts is an avenue where these topics can be fleshed out and create much-needed discussion. We are excited to collaborate with Gateway Arts on this production to create meaningful and insightful conversations on this topic,” says Andrea.
The production will also offer a relaxed performance on Sat, 20 May, 2:30pm, which will be suitable for everyone, including individuals who have special needs or who generally find typical theatregoing “rules” stressful. During this performance, the atmosphere will be more casual. There is an open attitude towards noise or movements in the audience, and people may leave the auditorium if they feel uncomfortable and re-enter anytime they are ready. For anyone concerned about potential sensory triggers, a pre-performance guide will be available with short descriptions of what to expect during the show. This will help people understand in advance what might happen and reduce the stress of going to an unfamiliar environment.
“It’s a fine balance between keeping the integrity of the play and making it as accessible as possible,” says Daniel Wong, sound designer of The Monster In the Mirror. “A relaxed performance is only possible when every part of the team is aligned in its goal of making the musical accessible. So I’m very glad to be part of this team and we can’t wait to showcase this performance.”
The Monster in the Mirror will premiere at the Gateway Theatre (Main Theatre) on 12 May 2023. Tickets are priced from $10 to $65 (exclude booking fee), sold through SISTIC and ticketing hotline: (65) 6348 5555, as well as authorised agents.

Bitkub CEO Jirayut (Topp) Srupsrisopa Speaks to Xapo’s Bank Maverick Podcast on Blockchain, Democratising Finance and Bitcoin in Southeast Asia

The Mavericks podcast series explores some of the world’s brightest minds across the crypto ecosystem and the impact they are having, particularly within emerging markets. Topp is the head of the largest and most trusted blockchain and digital asset group of companies in Thailand. He is also one of Asia’s foremost Bitcoin and open blockchain experts, with over ten years of experience.
Topp is interviewed by Mavericks host Joey Garcia, a globally recognised expert across the DLT and blockchain space, a Director of Xapo and Head of Policy and Regulatory affairs. During the interview/ Joey and Topp discuss the future of blockchain technology and different perspectives that enable those defined as mavericks to see the world differently and motivate them to push for change.
Topp also shared his views on the future of stablecoins, value exchange in Web 3.0, closed and open financial systems, and the fundamental integration of traditional fiat currency banking with blockchain technology, one of Xapo Bank’s primary value propositions.
Speaking on the future of decentralised finance (DeFi), Topp said: “If you talk short term, my grandmother or my grandfather will not be able to use decentralised finance; we need to humanise this technology. People know how to use Skype or Zoom, but nobody knows what TCP/IP protocol is; people know how to use Gmail or Hotmail, but nobody knows what SMTP protocol is.
“We need to humanise DeFi first. Then, when money is no longer paper-based, and everyone is embedded in Web 3.0 and can log in to their web wallets like they log in to their emails now, DeFi will take off. However, because DeFi only allows you to convert value from digital to digital, not physical to digital, you will still need an exchange platform as a transition, or a bridge, from the old world to the new. Otherwise, how will you be able to convert fiat to crypto?”
On how the move towards digital will further transform lifestyles in Southeast Asia, Topp said: “Blockchain is going to democratise value sharing in the same way the internet democratised information sharing. People will be free to choose which platform they want to exchange value.
We need more education, but restricting or banning the technology doesn’t work. Retail investors drove previous waves of Bitcoin growth, and we’re still seeing more and more retail customers onboard blockchain technology. I believe that the next wave of growth will be driven by institutional investors, even to the extent that some counties’ central banks will be in Bitcoin.
Speaking of the future of global economic growth over the next five years, Topp concluded: “I see the biggest focus development in Asia, the Southeast region in particular.
Right now, we live in a fragmented world – there is a decoupling between China and the US, and there’s an East and West divide and a global North and South inequality. Supply chains have been disrupted after Covid… it is clear that we are moving towards de-globalisation and a more fragmented world.
In ASEAN, we are the ones who swing the vote; we do not pick sides, we do not have the ageing population issues, and we are rich in natural resources. I believe the investors will need stability in this new fragmented world, and they will see the Southeast Asian region as the new S-curve. After 2024 we will see unprecedented growth in investment going into South-East Asia because of these various factors”.

CPA Australia: Most Indonesian small businesses expect to grow in 2023
- The vast majority of small businesses expect to grow in 2023.
- Almost one-quarter embracing green and sustainable finance opportunities.
- Accessing external finance remains a challenge for businesses.
JAKARTA, INDONESIA – Media OutReach – 2 May 2023 – Eighty-four per cent of Indonesian small businesses expect to grow in 2023, the second highest result for the Asia-Pacific region, a new survey shows.

CPA Australia’s Asia-Pacific Small Business Survey reveals that Indonesian small businesses remained among the most positive across Asia-Pacific in 2022. The survey covered responses from 4280 small business owners or managers across 11 Asia-Pacific markets, including 306 from Indonesia. Seventy-seven per cent reported growing in 2022 and 32 per cent hired more employees. This year is expected to be even stronger with more than four-in-10 planning to hire more staff.
Dr Adi Budiarso FCPA (Aust.), Chairman of CPA Australia’s Indonesia Advisory Committee said micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) were resilient amid global uncertainty. Dr Budiarso is Director of the Financial Sector Policy Centre at Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance. While 48 per cent of Indonesian small businesses said COVID-19 was a major challenge, this was a drop from 72 per cent in 2021.
“Indonesia is home to more than 64 million MSMEs, creating a significant number of jobs and contributing to the economy. Although the pandemic still casts a shadow over Indonesia, its impact is diminishing. The lifting of travel restrictions has helped Indonesian small businesses perform, by boosting the tourism industry and private consumption.”
Sixty-seven per cent of businesses said technology investments made last year improved their profitability. The adoption of online tools is also prevalent. Social media is used by seven-in-10 to promote their business and 61 per cent use it to communicate with customers.
“The government’s National Economic Recovery Program and the Proud of Indonesian Products Movement has contributed to technology adoption across Indonesia’s MSMEs. The pandemic prompted businesses to embrace technology and adapt. Indonesian businesses have a strong focus on improving customer satisfaction, becoming sophisticated at using social media to stay connected.”
Sixty-five per cent of businesses received more than 10 per cent of sales through digital payment. This was lower than the survey average of 74 per cent.
“With digital payment options closely associated with high growth businesses, we hope more Indonesian small businesses will offer such payment options.”
While most of Indonesia’s small businesses are growing, many found accessing external finance difficult. Among the 73 per cent that sought funds last year, 39 per cent found it difficult. This was higher than the survey average of 33 per cent. In spite of this, intentions to access finance remain strong, with 89 per cent planning to seek external funds this year.
“Accessing financing is still challenging to many in developing economies including Indonesia. The pandemic may have exacerbated difficulties due to cashflow problems.”
“The government has been trying to improve financial inclusion. For example, increasing access to finance through digital platforms, encouraging financing through People’s Business Credit (KUR) and Ultra Micro (UMi) Financing programs and offering mentoring. MSMEs should also try to improve their solvency as this may impact their future credit score. They must keep a close eye on cashflow and costs.”
The survey findings reveal that many Indonesian small businesses have spent time and resources on environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. Twenty-four per cent monitored their energy and water use and 23 per cent adopted green and sustainable finance opportunities.
“MSMEs are crucial contributors to achieving Indonesia’s climate and clean energy goals. Indonesia has established a comprehensive framework for sustainable finance to meet these goals and MSMEs should consider applying this to their business.”

DHL Global Forwarding expands its dedicated Container Freight Station (CFS) space in Bangladesh to meet global garment export needs
- DHL Global Forwarding invested over 2 million EUR in state-of-the-art CFS facilities in Chittagong with a capacity of 70,000 sqft
- Bangladesh’s exports hit a record high of 52 billion USD in 2022, a 34.3% increase from the previous year
- Top export markets include the USA, Germany, UK, Spain and France
DHAKA, BANGLADESH – Media OutReach – 2 May 2023 – DHL Global Forwarding, the freight specialist arm of Deutsche Post DHL Group, invested over 2 million EUR to expand its dedicated Container Freight Station (CFS) space in Bangladesh to cater to the nation’s ever-growing readymade garments (RMG) industry. CFSs are a scarcity in Bangladesh, with less than 20 CFSs countrywide. These facilities help pick up goods from multiple suppliers and consolidate them into a single container before shipping to its destination.

Bangladesh’s exports for FY2022 hit a record high of 52 billion USD for the first time in history as its exports continue to enjoy steady growth due to its strong RMG sector, with a 34.3% increase in export earnings compared to FY2021. The RMG Industry plays a substantial role in the country’s exports, accounting for more than 80% of all exports. The leading markets for RMG include the USA, Germany, UK, Spain and France.
“The expansion of the DHL Global Forwarding dedicated CFS facilities will aid the growing demand for Bangladesh’s readymade garments worldwide. With its exports reaching a whopping 42.6 billion USD, Bangladesh’s readymade garments industry has grown significantly due to its strong manufacturing capabilities and competitive labor costs. Improved security, storage and sorting processes at these CFS facilities enable us to deliver high service quality to our customers while ensuring that it complies with EU/US quality standards. By operating from these facilities, we can further strengthen our environmental, social and governance foundation which is an integral part of our corporate sustainability agenda,” said Fabian Rybka, Cluster Head Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, DHL Global Forwarding.
“With Bangladesh being the second-largest readymade garments exporter in the world, businesses must ensure that they employ the right supply chain solutions to ensure that their exports can reach consumers in a cost efficient and timely manner. These facilities will support the growth of less than container load shipments especially from the rising demand of e-commerce,” added Feroz Jahangir, COO & Head of Value Added Services, DHL Global Forwarding Bangladesh.
The DHL Global Forwarding dedicated CFS are located in Chittagong, a port city that houses the largest seaport in Bangladesh, Chittagong Port. This port is Bangladesh’s principal seaport and handles more than 92% of Bangladesh’s import-export trade. The expansion to 70,000 square foot facility’s strategic location will allow for quicker access to the port, where goods can be promptly shipped out on ocean freight. The dedicated facilities also boast green operations to reduce carbon emissions.
In line with our green operations, customers can opt for sustainable marine fuel for both full container load (FCL) and less-than-container load (LCL) shipments under the GoGreen Plus solution, to reduce the carbon emissions of ocean freight shipments. This new CFS facility also has green features such as electric forklifts for a healthy working environment for employees, and ongoing discussions to install solar panels at the facility to help sustain day-to-day operations and further reduce carbon emissions in the long run.
