Taiwan Creative Content Fest 2022 Boosts International Co-production in Asia

Asia‘s Key Content Marketplace
Promoted as “Your Best Partner in Asia”, TCCF is a key B2B content marketplace that draws international professionals to Taiwan to promote creative content, connecting projects and proposals with buyers and investors. Through pitching sessions, content showcases, and forums, TCCF aims to drive collaboration between homegrown and foreign talents.
In the press conference, TAICCA’s CEO Izero Lee shared this year’s TCCF objectives: strengthening international connections, introducing multichannel resources, and promoting interdisciplinary co-creation. “Following the rise of streaming platforms and the post-epidemic industry reshuffle, the cultural content industry needs to explore new international sales channels.” he said. “TCCF will take responsibility for promoting Taiwan’s cultural content industry.”
PITCHING
The PITCHING program focuses on projects still in early development phases. Through pitching sessions organized by format and genre, this segment creates a streamlined pathway for Taiwan’s creators and producers to seek funding from potential buyers and partners, accelerating the transition of title or story into fully fledged product. For international visitors, PITCHING sheds light on Taiwan’s abundance of high-quality, creative content and frames Taiwan as the go-to source for original content in Asia. The sessions focus on 42 Taiwanese series, feature films, animations, and Taipei Golden Horse Film Project Promotion Series Projects.
MARKET
MARKET consists of in-person and online trade exhibitions and invites more than 130 domestic and foreign companies from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc., to exhibit nearly 800 titles. Spanning film & TV, publishing, comics, gaming, performing arts, and other industries, MARKET illuminates the best Taiwanese content of the year and drives business collaboration through title readings, film test screenings, and one-on-one matchmaking sessions. As Taiwan’s borders have now opened, TCCF has attracted several international companies to attend MARKET in person, including exhibitors like Japan’s TV Tokyo, CJ ENM Korea, and Singapore’s Mediacorp, and buyers such as Netflix and The Walt Disney Company. For virtual attendees, TAICCA’s IP Meetup platform encourages users to exhibit titles online in search of local and foreign distributors, funding, or buyers.
INNOVATIONS
Open to the public, INNOVATIONS gives insight into the future of entertainment by showcasing forward-looking content and works that span multiple disciplines. It features an exhibition on immersive contents and works combining culture and technology usage, a ‘Stereo’ interdisciplinary stage exploring the future of the music industry, and a series of ‘Salons’ or short lectures.
The exhibition contains 19 works that use new technology in an interdisciplinary approach, creating an immersive experience while delving into the potential of the Metaverse. Exhibits include director Singing Chen’s VR film: “The Man Who Couldn’t Leave” which won the Best Experience Award at the 2022 Venice Immersive Competition, and “Yoshitaka Amano’s VR Museum”– which boasts the largest official exhibition of works by the influential Japanese visual artist. More than 40 artists will perform onstage for Stereo, while Salon features nearly 40 short talks that explore contemporary and future entertainment in a relaxed, interactive format.
FORUM
FORUM consists of ‘Industry Talk’ and ‘Spotlight’ and invites film and TV professionals from home and abroad to discuss topics like trends in international film and TV co-production. Industry Talk is open to the public and involves ten sessions with companies and organizations like Taiwan’s largest telecommunications company Chunghwa Telecom and production company Korean entertainment studio Bound Entertainment. Spotlight is a new addition to TCCF and is open to professionals only. Its purpose is to let TAICCA’s partners share perspectives on content trends in global audiences.
Among those speaking are Mediacorp’s executive producer of Chinese drama productions, Loh Woon Woon, and TCCF partner Series Mania– Europe’s biggest event dedicated to TV series. This year, Series Mania invites a selection of top international executives to talk about opportunities for collaboration. They will also select one Taiwanese project from the PITCHING segment to enter into their 2023 program.

Pretty Beauty Introduces Dual-linear HIFU – the Anti-Wrinkle Solution in This Fall and Winter
Anti-aging Elixir: Dual-linear HIFU Skin Care Treatment
Starting from the age of 25, skin starts to lose collagen inevitably. This process is commonly accelerated by external factors, which gradually slows down the growth of collagen. These results in the skin losing vitality and elasticity, gradually sagging downward, and showing all signs of skin aging. While daily facial and skin care products are not likely to repair underlying issues of the skin, Pretty Beauty has discovered the elixir of skin youth restoring method in Korea. Introduced by the Korean brand Tentech, the dual-linear output HIFU equipment effectively smooth out the traces of early aging. The 10 Thera HIFU uses a unique high-energy focused ultrasonic technology – a world’s first patented technology. Its radio frequency output of 200 rounds is equivalent to the common 400-round HIFU instrument in the market. The treatment time and the burden to the skin are greatly reduced. The 10 Thera HIFU is suitable for the cheeks, forehead and neck, where appear to be the most noticeable skin aging areas. The treatment remodels the collagen network of the skin foundation, achieving a swift result of lightened wrinkles, tightened skin and eliminating signs of early skin aging.
Targeted Solution to Nasolabial Folds, Marionette Lines with In-depth Focused Heating
The status of the skin is the key to the overall appearance of the face, especially when stubborn wrinkles such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and eye wrinkles can really demerit your look. Pretty Beauty can solve those issues from the root cause and by targeting a variety of wrinkles. The 10 Thera HIFU flexibly uses 4.5 mm and 3.00mm probes to accurately identify different layers of skin and inject energy into damaged cells. The 4.5 mm probe is used to repair the deepest fascia layer, and effectively improves the uneven ratios of the face on both sides and the downward sagging of the facial contours. Ultimately it achieves a noticeable lifting and tightening effect. With a 3.00 mm probe, treatment focuses on stimulating collagen production, even in the brow bone and eye position. It brings about a lifting effect, reducing fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, and enhancing the contrast on the face shape.
Rejuvenating Skin in just 7 Days
Pretty Beauty’s 10 Thera Hifu instantly firms, lifts and plumps the skin to embrace the most glorious look in just 7 days. After the treatment is completed, the residual temperature continues to stimulate collagen production at the deeper layers of the skin. With thedaily routine of skin care and moisturising, the treatment effect prolongs significantly.

Design Revealed for 8 Shenton Way, a Building Poised to Redefine Singapore’s Skyline as the City’s Tallest, and Among Asia’s Most Sustainable Skyscrapers
The 63-storey mixed-use downtown development is inspired by the tropical climate, taking cues from bamboo forests to create an indoor-outdoor vertical community of public spaces, offices, retail, hotel and luxury residences
SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 27 October 2022 – Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) has revealed the design of 8 Shenton Way, a new 63-story tower that will anchor the intersection of Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD) and Marina Bay, the historic Tanjong Pagar neighborhood, and the emerging Greater Southern Waterfront. Soon to be one of the most identifiable landmarks on the skyline, the tower will soar 305 meters — becoming Singapore’s tallest skyscraper — weaving in the lush tropical landscape from Shenton Way, Anson Road, and Maxwell Road into the sky.

With expansive public spaces, offices, retail, hotel, and luxury residences offering unparalleled panoramic views south-facing of the South China Sea, the heritage district to the North, and proximity to the Tanjong Pagar district, known for its Michelin-recommended restaurants, 8 Shenton Way will be a vibrant, 24/7 hub. The tower incorporates leading edge post-pandemic design features, while offering unparalleled integration of a diverse building program and amenities, befitting one of Asia’s most international, preeminent centers.
“8 Shenton Way will be the newest landmark on the Singapore skyline — truly a next generation tower for the city,” said SOM Partner Mustafa Abadan. “Designed specifically with the tropical climate of Singapore in mind, this building will be one of the first post-pandemic mixed-use towers in the world incorporating health and wellness as its primary design drivers. By seeking to achieve the city’s newest and most rigorous sustainability standards, our design will establish a new paradigm for resilient and elegant high-rise design in Singapore and beyond.”
“We are proud to play our part in the transformation of Singapore’s skyline and cityscape as the nation builds up its credentials as a truly global city in the post-pandemic era,” said Perennial Holdings Private Limited and its consortium of investors. “With the collaboration of world-class architect firm, SOM, and renowned local architect firm, DCA Architects, 8 Shenton Way will set a new standard for best-in-class integrated developments that elevates global standards of sustainability through design innovations and advanced technology.”
Nature and sustainability are driving forces behind the design. The design is inspired by bamboo forests, echoing the verticality and biophilic elements found in nature. From the zero-waste manufacture of terracotta to the use of engineered bamboo, the design seeks to minimize both embodied and operational carbon. Targeting Building Construction Authority of Singapore (BCA) Green Mark Platinum Certification — equivalent to a 55% energy reduction compared to the benchmark — 8 Shenton Way is seeking the highest sustainability certification in the region.
8 Shenton Way is the first project under the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore’s CBD Incentive Scheme with such a diversity of components, including retail, office, SOHO style units, luxury residential, hotel, and function space. Gathering a wide variety of building functions within a tight urban footprint, 8 Shenton Way will be a highly efficient high-rise which optimizes its location in the heart of the city. The new building will reuse part of the existing foundation and infrastructure onsite to minimize material use and embodied carbon during construction. The facade will be built of energy efficient glazing, and recyclable aggregates will be used in its concrete structure, manufactured through a low carbon process, while segregating waste and using Singapore Green Building Council-certified materials where available.
“Emerging from the pandemic, this moment presents a rare and exciting opportunity for architects to explore new approaches to health-driven placemaking,” said SOM Design Principal Nic Medrano. “Singapore is an incredible canvas to do this, with its excellent quality of life, abundance of greenspace and diversity of cultures. Our design weaves together nature, heritage, connections to transit, luxury living, healthy workplaces, and lively public spaces into a thriving hub for the community.”

The development will integrate dynamic live, work, and play elements, while elevating luxury in Singapore’s downtown. A public performance and events space with retail, seating, and bike racks will activate the street. Landscaping will extend from the street into the building, creating a seamless green corridor for pedestrians. On the second floor, an open-air green space with restaurants offers room to gather, surrounded by a biodiverse landscape with plants chosen specifically to attract birds and butterflies. In total, the design includes more than 10,000 square meters of elevated, public green space — exceeding the footprint of the entire site.
The building facade is characterized by natural materials — champagne-colored terracotta and bamboo along the walls of the sky gardens—with curved edges that create bay windows on nearly every floor, offering vast sightlines of the city and the sea. In the lobby, wood, stone, and terracotta finishes flank artwork and a reflecting pool, with a multi-floor atrium framing the space above. Landscaped sky gardens located throughout the height of the tower create a place of respite, building occupants ample room for an outdoor escape in the sky. There are seven terraces altogether, including one for the hotel floors and three for the residential levels, carved out of the building every five to six floors bringing light, air, and natural ventilation to prioritize wellbeing. The residences occupy the highest levels of the tower, enjoying the most impressive views.
Across more than 148,000 square meters of floor space, 8 Shenton Way incorporates a variety of post-pandemic features, prioritizing tenants’ health. Contactless technology, antimicrobial materials, enhanced natural air flow and filtration, adaptable interior spaces, and large, landscaped outdoor spaces collectively create a robust offering of healthier, wellness-focused spaces in the heart of the city.
To encourage more sustainable modes of transit, the tower will connect to Singapore’s subterranean pedestrian network, including direct underground connectivity to the Tanjong Pagar Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station, as well as two additional MRT stations within a five-minute walk: the Maxwell MRT Station, which will serve the Thomson-East Coast Line and slated to commence service in November this year, and the Prince Edward MRT Station, which will close the loop between Harbourfront and Marina Bay MRT stations on the Circle Line in 2026. Bicycle and electronic vehicle parking will also be provided.
8 Shenton Way is owned and being developed by Perennial Holdings Private Limited and its consortium of investors. SOM is serving as Architectural Design Consultant and with DCA Architects of Singapore serving as Architect of 8 Shenton Way. The project is anticipated for completion in 2028.
