TORONTO, April 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Kat Florence Lumina, a flawless 181.61-carat Paraiba tourmaline, is completing its global debut tour with final exhibitions across Asia before making its way to Bonhams Hong Kong, where it will be auctioned on May 22.

Discovered in 2003 by gem hunter Don Kogen during a routine expedition through the Mavuco district of Mozambique’s Nampula province, the original crystal weighed an astounding 830 carats. Recognizing its extraordinary potential, Kogen estimated that a clean 300-carat stone could be achieved, an ambitious yield by any standard.

Years later, in 2009, Guinness World Records recognized the 191.87-carat Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba as the largest Paraiba tourmaline ever recorded. That gem was valued between $25 million and $125 million and became the benchmark for rarity and prestige.

In 2025, with the original crystal still uncut, Don’s wife, world-renowned jewelry designer Kat Florence encouraged him to revisit the stone. The initial result was a 315-carat gemstone, remarkable in size but compromised in brilliance. Like many Paraibas over 100 carats, it displayed “windowing,” a flatness that dulls fire and life at the center of the gem.

Kat, never one to compromise on perfection, envisioned more.

After thoughtful deliberation and months of precision work by Kat Florence’s elite cutting team, the stone was reimagined and reborn as The Kat Florence Lumina; a perfectly proportioned, flawless, 181.61-carat Paraiba. It is now the largest known Paraiba tourmaline of its kind: unheated, vividly saturated, and masterfully cut to ignite brilliance from every angle.

New funding arrangements for Mainstream finalized

FORNEBU, Norway, April 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Aker Horizons ASA (“Aker Horizons”) has agreed on new funding arrangements for Mainstream Renewable Power (“Mainstream”) with DNB ASA (“DNB”) and co-shareholder Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (“Mitsui”).

The new funding will enable Mainstream to deliver on its updated and more focused strategy, concentrating on developing its pipeline of projects primarily in three core markets where it sees the greatest potential for value creation – South Africa, Australia, and the Philippines – and creating value through strong project execution, a lean cost base and capital efficiency.

In 2023, Mainstream secured a corporate facility of up to USD 220 million with DNB, supported by shareholders. Aker Horizons’ share of the sponsor commitment is 58.4% of the maximum facility size, equivalent to USD 129 million. This amount will be provided to Mainstream as a shareholder loan, disbursed in phases: USD 75 million will be provided in April 2025, while the remaining USD 53 million will initially be provided through an extended letter of credit facility expected to be converted to shareholder loans in 2025 and 2026.

Additionally, new funding for Mainstream has been agreed upon in the form of a shareholder loan facility of up to EUR 64 million provided pro-rata 70% by Aker Horizons and 30% by Mitsui, along with a letter of credit facility with DNB of up to EUR 64 million, also backed pro-rata by Aker Horizons and Mitsui. Both facilities may be drawn until maturity at year-end 2026, with drawdowns contingent on reaching agreed milestones under Mainstream’s updated strategy.

TVP Research Finds Pre-Seed Bitcoin Startup Investment Activity Grows 767% Since 2021

Supermicro is the only system vendor publishing record MLPerf inference performance (on select benchmarks) for both the air-cooled and liquid-cooled NVIDIA HGX™ B200 8-GPU systems. Supermicro offers a comprehensive AI portfolio with over 100 GPU-optimized systems, both air-cooled and liquid-cooled options, with a choice of CPUs, ranging from single-socket optimized systems to 8-way multiprocessor systems. Supermicro rack-scale systems include computing, storage, and network components, which reduce the time required to install them once they are delivered to a customer site.

Supermicro’s NVIDIA HGX B200 8-GPU systems utilize next-generation liquid-cooling and air-cooling technology. The newly developed cold plates and the new 250kW coolant distribution unit (CDU) more than double the cooling capacity of the previous generation in the same 4U form factor. Available in 42U, 48U, or 52U configurations, the rack-scale design with the new vertical coolant distribution manifolds (CDM) no longer occupies valuable rack units. This enables eight systems, comprising 64 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs in a 42U rack, and up to 12 systems with 96 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs in a 52U rack.

The new air-cooled 10U NVIDIA HGX B200 system features a redesigned chassis with expanded thermal headroom to accommodate eight 1000W TDP Blackwell GPUs. Up to 4 of the new 10U air-cooled systems can be installed and fully integrated in a rack, the same density as the previous generation, while providing up to 15x inference and 3x training performance.
