Udokan Copper to cut its carbon intensity up to 75% by 2035

MOSCOW, RUSSIA – Media OutReach – 3 August 2022 – Udokan Copper, the developer of Russia’s largest new deposit, outlined scenarios to cut the carbon intensity of copper production up to 75% by 2035, bringing the Company closer to its ultimate goal of climate neutrality in the long run. The Company publishes its Sustainability Report for 2021, which outlines the results in terms of the environment as well as social and corporate governance (ESG).

Udokan Сopper develops and implements programs aimed at reducing energy consumption and reducing environmental impact as it prepares for the production launch. The Company’s plan to decrease carbon emissions involves the possibility of purchasing low-emissions electricity from power sources such as hydro, wind and solar, as well as its own power generation from renewable sources. It will also study opportunities to switch from coal to less carbon-intensive fuels for heat generation as well as electrification of the mining fleet.

The Company’s ongoing mission is to produce copper as the key metal for building a secure and tech-based future, while taking care of its employees and minimizing its impact on the environment. Udokan Copper’s key priorities are to complete its mining and metallurgical plant on time, within budget and build a reputation as a responsible producer.

In 2021, Udokan Copper invested RUB 764 million (USD 11.5 million) in environmental measures and social programs as the Company prepared to start production at the deposit. Udokan Copper had zero fatalities from 2019 to 2021, while the number of total recordable incidents fell to 14 in 2021 from 23 in 2020, helped by measures such as employee incentives for safe working conditions and staff safety training.

Akylbek Yerkozha, Board Chairman at Udokan Copper, said:

“The Company voluntarily started disclosing data on its contribution to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals even before the start of operations, at the stage of the construction of its production facilities. The report we are now publishing is our third annual sustainability report.

“In 2021, Udokan Copper implemented a number of important sustainable development initiatives. The Company joined the UN Global Compact, confirming its commitment to the principles of responsible business conduct. We completed the development of our Climate Programme, which included an assessment of planned greenhouse gas emissions for all
three scopes (Scopes 1, 2 and 3) and analyzed opportunities to reduce them, with Udokan Copper being the first company in Russia to gain experience in assessing forecast emissions for compliance with the ISO 14064-1:2018 international standard.

“Our climate programme provides for a number of scenarios where the carbon intensity of copper production could be reduced up to 75% by 2035, which would bring the Company closer to climate neutrality in the long run.”

HR-tech startup EngageRocket announces winners of their Workplace of the Year Awards 2022: Digital transformation that enables human connection is key

Amongst the winners are OCBC Bank, NTUC Health, MyRepublic, and Intrepid Group Asia. See the full list of winners here

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 3 August 2022 – The Workplace of the Year 2022 Awards, produced by EngageRocket, the APAC’s fastest-growing employee experience technology provider, celebrate the outstanding achievements of organisations for their resilience and the phenomenal work they have done as we move to the post-pandemic recovery phase.

From over 300 applications, a handful of companies have been selected as winners by a panel of 9 judges from various backgrounds of HR and leadership experience in APAC: Mayank Parekh, Chief Executive Officer at IHRP; Alvin Goh, Executive Director at SHRI; Russell Chan, Head of People at Open Government Products; Sylvia Koh, Chief People Officer at CrimsonLogic; Wiwik Wahyuni, Chief Human Resources Officer at Homme Credit; Koeshartanto Koeswiranto, President Commissioner at Asuransi Tugu Pratama and Philippa Penfold, CEO and Co-founder at People Collider.

In today’s environment, it is crucial for companies to stand out as an employer so they can retain top talent. Published in EngageRocket’s latest guide on award-winning best practices, here are the 5 key highlights that make the winners stand out from the crowd:

1. Emphasize on people development, training and future-proofing

Top organizations use multiple channels for L&D, including in-house academies. They also prioritize continuous learning, while tracking and measuring its impact on the bottom line. Besides organization-wide learning, they pay attention to individual career growth and progression, with ample opportunities for horizontal transfers.

“We moved our learning and development to an e-platform and took steps to provide guidance and training for our staff, especially to the elderly to be digitally savvy. This acceleration of changes is necessary and we’re optimistic this will help us to meet the world of the future”

Tanglin Club – GOLD winner of Best Company Culture

2. Build a compelling Employer Value Proposition (EVP)

The best workplaces are characterized by a strong employer value proposition, combining competitive pay, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and a healthy work-life balance. Importantly, they maintain compensation parity for existing employees and not just for attracting new talent. These winning companies view DEI as intrinsic to the organizational mindset, complete with managerial training to champion DEI initiatives.

3. Embrace digital transformation as a key pillar

Top companies adopt technology for three reasons – to streamline business processes, improve operational resilience, and simplify employees’ lives. Some of the key technologies employed by the award winners include infrastructure improvements, online recruitment tools, and automated platforms to measure and improve employee experiences.

“We developed an in-house certification program developed with the goal to equip our workforce with the technical knowledge and skills required to be an expert in our Cloud products. This intensive course is also available on demand, so that our professionals could access and complete the course according to their own schedule.”

Check Point Software Technologies – SILVER winner of Employer of Choice

4. Invest in stronger human connections

These top organizations put employees first, because they understand that businesses succeed only when their people thrive. They pay close attention to what employees say, think, and do, through continuous listening. Based on this, they initiate timely follow-up actions to deliver a winning employee experience.

“People are at the heart of all that we do. We are driven by the purpose to help our employees develop and craft their career experience together with Intrepid Group.”

Intrepid Group Asia – GOLD winner of Employer of Choice

5. Track and measure people initiatives’ efficiency

The ability to measure employee experience is a common thread across award winners. Specifically, they have a culture of continuous listening. One key highlight is the emphasis on collecting employee feedback, such as through the usage of pulse surveys and annual engagement surveys. This allows them to be in touch with their people’s motivations and sentiments at key moments in the employee journey.

APENFT Foundation Announces 2022 Open Call Theme

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 3 August 2022 – APENFT Foundation announced that the second call of its $100 million Art Dream Fund would be launched on August 1, and registration would close on October 30. The theme “Post-Human Era” for this year’s call seeks to explore whether the future of humanity can transcend traditional human-centered humanism and how people should position themselves in a complex ecosystem consisting of non-human animals, plants, and cyborgs. Winners will share a prize pool of over $100,000. In addition to prizes, they will also enjoy the opportunity to build their art studios in The Sandbox—a metaverse game to be launched by APENFT and TRON—as well as to get involved in annual online and offline exhibitions curated by APENFT, workshops, artist residencies, and other educational events.

This call is open to artists and creators of any age, nationality, and profession and welcomes digital artworks submitted by both individuals and teams in the forms of video, animation, virtual reality, augmented reality, sound art, and data-driven art, among others. “The most essential quality that distinguishes us from other calls is our core values—great inclusivity and openness—which are also the values that govern the world of NFTs; here, every good work has a chance to be seen,” Sydney Xiong, director of the APENFT Foundation, emphasized, “We’ve always been committed to nurturing and supporting young artists and creators who are open-minded, daring, imaginative, and able to inject fresh vitality into the art sphere.”

The same openness and inclusivity permeate the review process of the Art Dream Fund. This year’s review panel comprises more than 10 artists, curators, experts from auction houses, art professionals, and financial practitioners. Such a composition is expected to introduce opinions from diverse areas such as art, finance, technology, and design, allowing submissions to be assessed from a more comprehensive perspective. Expert juries include Philip Tinari (Director of UCCA Center for Contemporary Art), Jonathan Crockett (Chairman of Asia at Phillips), Josh Baer (Art advisor), Sylvain Levy (Renowned collector), and Conlan Rios (Founder of Async Art); the Nomination and Selection Panel includes Cheng Ran (Contemporary Artist), Laura Shao from Hive Center for Contemporary Art, Kenny Schachter (art writer), Ciara Sun (Co-founder of C² Ventures), Claire Huang (Async Art Advisor&Columnist), Mimi Nguyen (Lecturer at the University of the Arts London). Together with community members, the Nomination and Selection Panel will select 50 contestants for the final round with their votes.

Themed on “Second Life”, the open call in the last year received over 500 artworks, among which Infinite Falling by WMD Studio won the first prize and submissions of Verdi Jackson, Kong, Allyn Belfred, and Chengcheng Shi won the innovation prizes. In January 2022, all winning artworks were sold at the online exhibition and auction event co-hosted by APENFT Foundation and LiveArtX in Cryptovoxels. This year, on top of the three existing awards, APENFT teamed up with Async Art in setting up Async Visual-Audio Award for programmable art to encourage experimentation and innovation in interactive art forms. As Conlan Rios, Founder of Async Art expressed, “Async Art provides tools for everyone to create visual-audio interactive NFTs, without the necessity of mastering coding and programming knowledge. Through Async Visual-Audio Award, we invite artists to join us to turn the existing concept of art on its head and pave the way for a whole new category of programmable media. This is just the start, but we believe these simple building blocks will open up a world of possibilities for the creators out there, and we are really excited to see the genius ways people might use it.” Participants will have opportunities to attend the workshops co-organized by APENFT and Async Art and receive Blueprints-based NFT airdrops from the latter.

Another highlight of this year’s Art Dream Fund is that during the call and the selection, APENFT will co-host three online forums with ArtReview to discuss how NFT create new opportunities in the art world, the influence of the metaverse on art creation, and NFT collection and sponsorship, in an effort to foster people’s engagement in the NFT and inspire their critical thinking in this regard. The dates and guests of the forums will be unveiled soon. Please stay tuned.

ANDRITZ will showcase three innovations at Victam Asia 2022

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 3 August 2022 – ANDRITZ Feed & Biofuel experts are looking forward to welcoming visitors at Victam Asia 2022 (Booth 1910), where three brand new innovations for the aqua and animal feed markets will be presented: the 3-Roll Assembly Upgrade for the Paladin 2000, Micro Feed System, and Metris Vibe. With the feed market in Asia flourishing, the ability to provide plant solutions capable of delivering against ever-increasing demand is critical, particularly in light of population growth and rising prosperity. Higher living standards are creating a need for higher quality proteins, while increased wealth is also driving the pet food sector forward. Working with an experienced partner allows feed producers to operate effectively throughout the lifecycle of the equipment, maximizing capacity and contributing to a robust bottom line.

“At ANDRITZ we are focused on optimizing processes and innovative developments that will enable customers to achieve the safest, most cost-effective production, with minimal waste and energy usage,” comments Stefan de Roo, Global MarCom Manager for Feed & Biofuel. “We are here to support our customers in Asia for all of their plant solutions requirements – whether for the feed, pet food or biomass industries – based on their exact specifications at the lowest possible total cost of ownership. Our experts will be welcoming people to the booth in person, to listen to their challenges and to demonstrate that, with the industry’s most trusted services, we are there for our customers at all times.”

ANDRITZ Feed & Biofuel innovations at Booth 1910

For animal feed producers, ANDRITZ will introduce its 3-Roll Assembly Upgrade for the Paladin 2000, an automatic roller adjustment system that provides adjustable spacing between the die and the rolls to enable producers to set the perfect distance for different recipes in one pellet mill. Average distance measurements for multiple recipes will be a thing of the past, while pellet quality, capacity and power utilization will all improve.

Next, the AFTaN award-winning Micro Feed System – a dedicated extruder upgrade system designed for aqua feed that is less than 2 mm in size – is on display. The system can increase capacity by up to 40% when compared to running microfeed at reduced speeds on standard extrusion lines, and represents a major breakthrough in the industry. The system will be mounted on an extruder that also features a dedicated venting unit. This unit delivers additional flexibility in managing a wider variety of raw materials in the production of sinking aquatic feed, leading to greater accuracy and control through real-time adjustments, higher quality and yield.

Finally, Metris Vibe, an integrated solution for condition monitoring, will be presented to the feed industry at the show. Metris Vibe is a wireless vibration and temperature sensor that can monitor the health status of mechanical equipment regardless of manufacturer. Durable and wireless, the sensors work in all rough environments and deliver lower operational costs through reduced maintenance due to its predictive capabilities, increased uptime, higher production reliability and improved safety.

In addition, ANDRITZ Feed & Biofuel experts will deliver complementary presentations on its three innovations across the three days, giving more technical detail and covering the many benefits they will offer. Michel Bauer Pereira, Global Manager, Extrusion, will present an overview of efficient use of energy in the extrusion process on 7 September at Aquafeed Horizons – Towards sustainable Aqua feed, followed by a presentation on the Andritz Microfeed System on 8 September at the AFTaN Awards Conference. At Build my Feed Mill on 9 September, Faisal Baig, Vice President, Aftermarket, will provide an in-depth look at Metris Vibe, while Anders Lydom, Product Manager for Animal Feed, will present further details on the 3-Roll Automatic Roller Adjustment.
