This implementation is a move in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strategy to focus on the logistic services sector, as part of the priorities and programmes of the Economic Recovery Plan.  The move will further support the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, following the project’s approval by the Cabinet chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with the aim to develop the economy and create promising opportunities for citizens to improve the competitiveness of the Kingdom of Bahrain and attract further investments.

The contract signing ceremony was presided by the President of Bahrain Customs, His Excellency Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa who signed the contract with the Singapore-based company (CrimsonLogic) recently.

The OFOQ2 system is an advance e-portal that integrates the digital exchange of data between different e-systems within the trade community (ships, cargo and customs clearance agents, and product owners) and streamlines the various government procedures.  This includes specialised modules such as the Customs value, Customs Exemption System, Customs Restrictions System and Risks System to meet the latest international standards.  It also capitalizes on smart solutions and AI (Artificial Intelligence) apps to regulate appointment procedures and reduce paperwork between Bahrain Customs Affairs and operating companies.

OFOQ2 incorporates blockchain technologies to further enhance the accuracy of the digital transactions and protects information confidentiality with minimum human interference, with the e-portal’s services also accessible through mobile phones and kiosks.

Mr Saw Ken Wye, Chief Executive Officer of CrimsonLogic said: “We are honoured to be partnering BCA in their digitalisation journey to reimagine how trade will look like for the Kingdom.  With the increased focus on efficiencies and connectivity, the new system will seamlessly share data between the trade and logistics communities and BCA.  The open architecture and modular design would ensure that BCA has an agile system that can readily adapt to the rapid changes in the new normal.”

The project’s tender was announced in the first quarter of 2020 in cooperation with the Information and eGovernment Authority, and in line with the government’s strategy and the requirements of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 to achieve electronic integration through data exchange between customs-related e-systems and e-services.

Gojek celebrates three years in Singapore, goes the extra mile to support driver-partners

‘Go the Extra Mile’ campaign will see $1 per completed trip given back to eligible driver-partners throughout Gojek’s anniversary week

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 29 November 2021 – To mark its three-year anniversary in Singapore, Gojek today announced the launch of its ‘Go the Extra Mile’ campaign which will see $1 per completed trip given back to driver-partners  throughout its anniversary week – 29 November – 5 December[1]. The campaign aims to show appreciation to driver-partners, who have been instrumental in moving Singapore safely amid the pandemic, and builds on the more than 1 million free and discounted vaccination rides provided by Gojek in 2021.

Through the initiative, Gojek hopes to rally consumers to show their appreciation for driver-partners by taking Gojek rides to contribute more to drivers’ earnings, as well as encouraging them to show drivers some love through verbal thank-yous and their own small gestures. On top of their existing GoCar incentives, qualifying drivers will receive additional ‘Go the Extra Mile’ earnings at the end of the campaign, paid out directly to driver-partners’ earnings wallets.

Lien Choong Luen, General Manager of Gojek Singapore, said, “The last year has undoubtedly been one of the most challenging for us since our launch in Singapore, and we are proud to be celebrating our third anniversary in spite of the difficulties faced. One thing is for certain, we would not be here without the commitment and resilience of our driver-partners. They are the very heart of Gojek and this year’s birthday is dedicated to them.”

He added, “‘Go the Extra Mile’ builds on our commitment to support those within our ecosystem, and show our collective appreciation to our driver-partners. We remain more focused than ever on finding ways to support them and keep Singapore moving safely as we continue to strengthen our offering and provide better experiences for users.”

Going the extra mile in Singapore

Gojek has been an active participant in keeping the nation moving throughout this challenging period. In May, Gojek’s Vaccination Campaign automatically provided all riders with two $15 vouchers to get to and from their vaccination appointments, resulting in almost 1.1 million free rides taken, where 1 in 5 people in Singapore used Gojek vouchers to attend their vaccination appointments.

As part of its continued commitment to going the extra mile to keep people safe, protect livelihoods and maintain resilience amongst driver-partners, Gojek is further doubling down on its CSR efforts in Singapore. Latest initiatives include:

  • Doubling support for SG Cares: Gojek has scaled up its Medical Transport Subsidy Scheme to all 14 SG Cares Volunteer Centres (VCs). Beyond the current 5 SG Cares VCs, Gojek is doubling its existing support to 9 additional SG Cares VCs, providing 1,000 subsidised rides for lower-income individuals to get to their medical appointments
  • Free rides for patients who have recovered from COVID-19: From 1 November to 31 December, Gojek has committed to providing 1,200 surge-free rides (capped at $20) for Community Health Assist Scheme Blue and Orange card holders, and patients with mobility needs, who have recovered from COVID-19 to help them get home safely. These Gojek rides are available from Connect@Changi, which is operating as a COVID-19 Treatment Facility located at Singapore EXPO. Participating drivers are also eligible for 3 x $10 fuel vouchers for pickups from Connect@Changi.
  • Support for jobseekers: From now through December, Gojek is offering $10 off when jobseekers travel to physical job fairs organised by NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute). Jobseekers would simply need to pick up a brochure[2] with the promo code at any of the e2i physical job fairs to receive $10 off their ride, which can then be used when they travel from their home to other e2i job fairs.

Besides rallying riders to show appreciation to driver-partners, Gojek will also be running its annual ‘Spot the Gojek’ competition, where riders can stand a chance to win GoCar vouchers by spotting GoCars with its 3rd anniversary decals and tagging Gojek in photos on Instagram with the hashtag #Goj3k and #GojekTurns3[3].

[1] Capped at first 100,000 rides. Drivers must complete at least 400 trips from 1-28 Nov, or at least 100 COs trips 29 Nov – 5 Dec, during the campaign period,  to be eligible. More information can be found here: https://www.gojek.com/sg/blog/

[2] While stocks last. List of physical job fairs applicable for the promo code are listed in the brochure

HOMISON Partners with SEAL to Establish Vertical Supply Chain on e-Waste Recovery and Recycling with New Business Opportunities Explored

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 29 November 2021 – Seal Eco Advanced Co., Ltd. (SEAL, a Hong Kong plastic waste recycling company) and Homison Solutions Limited (a technology service company), signed a cooperation agreement today and forged a special supply chain partnership for e-waste recovery and recycling in Hong Kong. The partnership will join force to improve the overall performance of the supply chain.

The partnership is expected to turn the by-products of the e-waste especially plastic waste into useful raw materials through recycling, including all kinds of recycled plastic products, to realize the turning waste-into-energy goal.

At the signing ceremony, the contracting parties called on Hong Kong enterprises to fulfil their corporate social responsibilities by actively and properly dealing with e-waste and solving the problem of carbon emissions. It is hoped that this cooperation model will not only open up local business opportunities for turning waste into energy, but also provide a successful case for local enterprises in sustainable development.

According to the Global E-Waste Monitor 2020, only 17.4% of the e-waste was documented as formally collected and recycled, with most of the rest sent to landfills.

The figures released by Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department revealed that around 70,000 tons of e-Waste and 5,400 tons of plastic waste are generated annually in Hong Kong, which poses a heavy burden on the environment.

“With the increasing availability of information technology and the surging demand for data capacity, the scale of data center is becoming larger and larger. We often have to install new electronic equipment and replace the old ones for customers. In the face of the increasing e-waste, we always hope to find appropriate environmental protection experts to tackle the issue together,” Jason Wu, CEO of HOMISON, said.

However, the upcycling and recycling of e-waste among local enterprises has fallen short of expectation and has yet to become a universal practice. For example, there are less than 20 service providers in Hong Kong that can legally handle e-waste, and the recycling process has yet to meet the global recovery standard (GRS).

SEAL is one of the few plastic waste recyclers with GRS Certificate in Hong Kong, which proves that all its recycling and production processes strictly meet the GRS certification standard. GRS certification can also ensure that the products produced and manufactured are really from waste recycling.

In view of this, the two parties reached a cooperation agreement initiated by the STARS Foundation. It is planned that HOMISON will be responsible for managing the e-waste and its by-products collected from customers. While SEAL, upon collection of the discarded products, will have them demagnetized, drilled and shredded to ensure no data leakage, and will turn the plastic materials to recycled plastic particles in their Fanling plant in strict compliance with the regulations of the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department. The recycled plastic particles will be made into various types of recycled plastic products to reduce new plastics generated from oil mining.

Carla Lam, Marketing Director of SEAL, remarked, “We are glad to expand our recycling business to electronic products recycling. We have never stopped to develop high-quality recycled products to meet the increasing market demand. We hope, through this cooperation, to enhance our product diversification with more recycling items. If our partnership could help Hong Kong enterprises reduce the import of recycled plastic particles from the Mainland or foreign countries, we will be able to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of transportation.”

Jason Wu of HOMISON said, “Our commitment on the proper disposal of electronic waste together with practical implementation has won the trust and support of our customers. We hope to continue to be the service provider of choice for customers in IT solutions’ business, and protect the environment with concerted efforts.”

MP3 Communications, a strategic partner of HOMISON, is an innovative communications consultancy. It has also played an active role in fostering the cooperation. One of its businesses is to help enterprises apply environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies, formulate long-term business policies and promote sustainable development.

Danielle Kwan, Founder and CEO of MP3 Communications, said, “It is a big trend for enterprises to incorporate ESG into their operating standards. ESG strategy can help create a better society, reduce damage to the environment, and create more business opportunities. We hope to convey our “Inclusion2gather” message to enterprises through this HOMISON X SEAL partnership. Let’s work together to thrive in life and business.”

Pak Kwan, Vice Chairman of STARS Foundation, believes that this cooperation can set another model of voluntary cooperation among enterprises on proper treatment of e-waste, for the business community and the public to take reference.

“The cooperation between HOMISON and SEAL is a proactive response to the Waste Blueprint for Hong Kong 2035 launched by the HKSAR Government in February 2021, advocating “Waste Reduction‧Resources Circulation‧Zero Landfill” (2R1C) including the implementation of municipal solid waste charges to reduce the per capita disposal rate and improve the recovery rate,” Pak Kwan added, “The cooperation agreement signed by the two companies provides an additional way to recover and properly dispose of e-waste, while advocating the turning waste into energy practice to reduce e-waste and curb pollution.”

Strategic addition of Rhenus presence in North Sumatra’s capital will strengthen its business development plans, especially in agriculture and forestry sectors.

JAKARTA, INDONESIA – Media OutReach – 29 November 2021 – Leading global logistics service provider Rhenus has opened a new branch in Indonesia. Located in Medan, North Sumatra, it is the fourth office under Rhenus Logistics Indonesia. This expansion will support the company’s efforts to enhance service efficiency to customers and further reinforce relationships with key airline and shipping partners.

Indonesia has observed a healthy growth in non-oil and gas exports in the country, noting that its export value in March 2021 has jumped by 30.47 percent, due to the high increase in exports in the agricultural, industrial, and mining sectors. As a key regional economic hub and commercial centre in Indonesia, Medan is a gateway for the goods and financial services trade on domestic, regional and international levels. Medan serves as a well-known trading hub for the agricultural sector as well, in particular palm oil.

This will also enhance connectivity to Kualanamu International Airport, which offers access to many Asian countries as well as the Middle East and Europe, as well as the Port of Belawan, Indonesia’s busiest seaport outside of Java.

“With the presence of Rhenus Logistics in Medan, it becomes a continuation point for the development of business and logistics services on the island of Sumatra. This move is in line with our goal to strengthen synergistic efforts for business coordination across Jakarta, Batam, Singapore and Malaysia,” said Iwan Juniar, General Manager, Rhenus Air & Ocean, Indonesia.

CP Foods Singapore Launches MEAT ZERO, Thailand’s Best Selling Plant-Based Brand With Over 4 Million Packs Sold Since Its Launch

Six products to enjoy under this range, all priced affordably to cater to the masses

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 29 November 2021 – Around the world, the trend of becoming flexitarian — people who consume vegetarian meals once or twice a week — is rising. According to Euromonitor International’s report entitled “Voice of the Consumer: Health and Nutritional Survey (fielded January/February 2021)”, 23% of global consumers want to reduce their meat consumption and 16% are aiming for a plant-based diet. This has in turn spurred demand for meatless food options. While there are already meatless options in the market, most of them are pricey. MEAT ZERO‘s plant-based meat range, which comprises four products and two ready-to-eat meals, fills this gap.

“The future looks bright for meatless meals, with the number of vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians altogether constituting about 29% of the global population,” says Mr Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer of CP Foods. “MEAT ZERO’s affordable price point will make this lifestyle more accessible to those who are looking to adopt a sustainable diet. The incredible taste will also convert sceptics.”

It took more than three years to produce the plant-based meat products and 2,000 experiments helmed by hundreds of researchers and teams from CPF Food Research and Development Centre. MEAT ZERO partnered with Fuji Oil from Japan, a world-class plant-based products company, as well as  experts from the U.S and Taiwan to develop Plant-Tec innovation. The innovation makes plant-based ingredients taste just like meat.

Traditionally, low-moisture extrusion is used to texturise protein into meat analogue. For MEAT ZERO future product development, the high-moisture meat analogue process is used to texturise vegetable proteins into a product with a fibrous texture akin to animal meat. The appearances, mouthfeel and texture of the products are similar to those of real meat. They are of equal nutritional value. High-fibre, non-GMO soy — which keeps cholesterol levels in check — as well as pea, wheat and corn, are the key ingredients.

The MEAT ZERO range includes the following items:

Meat Zero Plant-based Nugget (Frozen) – $3.50 (UP$4.50):

When deep- or air-fried to a golden-brown perfection, the nuggets have an airy crisp and a bite that is indistinguishable from the meat version. Pair it with roasted sweet potato fries for a guilt-free western-style meal!

Meat Zero Plant-based Bologna Ham (Chilled) – $3.35 (UP$3.95):

Make your own charcuterie board with this ham, an assortment of olives, dried fruits and crackers.

Meat Zero Plant-based Chilli Bologna Ham (Chilled) – $3.35 (UP$3.95):

Each slice comes with red and green chilli, which lend a fiery kick in every bite. Layer it atop sourdough toast and vegan scrambled egg for a simple yet satisfying sandwich.

Meat Zero Plant-Based Patty (Frozen) – $3.50 (UP$4.50):

Build your own katsu burger at home with this offering. The crunchy crumb is infused with the sharp note of garlic and the fragrance of herbs. The cooked patty is high in protein and free of trans fat.

Meat Zero Plant-Based Meat And Basil With Rice (Frozen) – $4.55 (UP$5.50):

Get whisked away to the Land of Smiles with this staple. The meat teases with a spicy note, and the sauce goes impeccably with the accompanying fluffy rice. The offering contains no cholesterol and is a great source of protein.

Meat Zero Plant-Based Spaghetti Bolognese (Frozen) – $4.55 (UP$5.50):

Enjoy this Italian classic in just four minutes of microwaving time. The alternative meat is soused in a lovely and sweet tomato-based sauce.

*Promotion price applies to selected retailers.

CP’s MEAT ZERO will be available at Cold Storage, NTUC FairPrice, FairPrice Online, RedMart, Amazon, Caltex, SPC and Sinopac Petrol Kiosks.
