Lenovo Introduces New Mobile Workstations Featuring Innovation for Enhancing User Experience and Productivity

The Latest Generation of ThinkPad P1, P15, and P17 Empower Professionals To Work From Anywhere

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 16 November 2021 – Lenovo today introduced the next generation of ThinkPad™ P1, ThinkPad P15, and ThinkPad P17 mobile workstations, designed for companies who need a smarter hybrid working environment that supports return-to-workplace and other post-pandemic strategies. The new mobile workstations sport the latest 11th generation Intel® Core™ and Xeon™ mobile CPUs, the latest NVIDIA® GPU architecture for supporting the latest NVIDIA RTX A5000 GPU, and additional support for PCIe Gen 4 SSDs. They are ISV-certified and meet MIL-spec standards1 for improved reliability.

ThinkPad P1 Gen 4: New Display, Improved Performance, Same Thin & Light Form Factor

The redesigned ThinkPad P1 gives professional users such as content creators, architects, product designers, and data scientists the power, premium design, and true mobility they seek. Thanks to its high performance, the versatile mobile workstation empowers professional users to remain productive at the workplace or on the go and can support increased workloads with its patent-pending thermal design. The thin and lightweight form factor is packed with premium features such as a larger 90WHr battery, a re-engineered keyboard design with a larger touchpad, a higher-resolution FHD camera for superior video conferencing, and a Dolby Atmos® Speaker System. The new 16-inch UHD+ display with narrow bezels, low-blue light technology, and 16:10 aspect ratio offers more screen real estate while maintaining its 15.6-inch footprint. For the first time, the new ThinkPad P1 can support up to NVIDIA RTX™ A5000-level GPUs or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. The enhancement allows content creators to configure the machine for their specific needs.

“There is no doubt that the global pandemic accelerated a shift toward mobile workstations as most of the world quickly moved to remote working environments,” said Fan Ho, General Manager, Hong Kong and Macau, Lenovo. “With mobile workstations taking on all-new importance with our end users, we’ve greatly enhanced the ThinkPad P1 Gen 4 to drive as much performance into the thin and light chassis as technically possible. No stone was left unturned when we rebuilt this chassis from the ground up – our customers spoke, and we listened.”

Akin Vong, a graphic design and animation creation teacher at HKDI and HKAPA and who created the 6-meter Leslie Cheung statue for an exhibition commemorating the actor’s 10th death anniversary, tested the ThinkPad P1 for several weeks. He said: “With better software support and compatibility, the PC is commonly used in the animation production industry. ThinkPad P1 Gen 4 provides higher computing and rendering capabilities for doing many things that I couldn’t before. For example, it improves higher graphic and animation production efficiency with faster previews of the 3D graphic. It also allowed us to create higher-quality panorama photos by stitching more HDR photos in RAW format together. I no longer have to trade-off mobility for computing power.”

ThinkPad P15 and ThinkPad P17 Gen 2: More Power for Expanded Possibilities

The ThinkPad P15 and P17 are for professional users who demand high-level performance. The two new highly-configurable and versatile mobile workstations cater to a wide range of professionals, from engineers and designers creating sophisticated renderings to developers working on compute-heavy virtual and mixed reality simulations. The ThinkPad P15 has a 15.6-inch UHD OLED display, while the ThinkPad P17 features a 17.3-inch color-calibrated display — the largest screen workspace available in a Lenovo mobile workstation. It allows users to view minute details in extreme clarity and seamlessly manage sophisticated workflows in a portable package.

All three ThinkPad P Series mobile workstations are NVIDIA Studio validated. It offers confidence to the creative community that these mobile stations can maintain the ISV certifications and support the Studio driver and verification process while handing mission-critical workflows.

The Future of Work

Workplace transformation is driving user demand for mobile and flexible solutions. The ability to work from anywhere while having access to applications and powerful computing resources is becoming crucial. With 83% of global IT decision-makers and management teams surveyed2 expecting post-pandemic work to be remote at least half the time, Lenovo’s latest mobile workstations offer the ideal setup for today’s and tomorrow’s hybrid working environment.

The ThinkPad P1 is currently available in Hong Kong from HKD19,699. Customers can choose the configuration that best fits their cost-performance needs. For more information, visit http://www.lenovo.com/workstations. Please visit: https://bit.ly/3wQ0Ap6to to download hi-res product shots.

Nestlé Hong Kong Invites All Children in Hong Kong to Participate in Rope Skipping Challenge

Launching the Second Nestlé for Healthier Kids Programme, Nestlé Fosters Healthy Growth for Children in Hong Kong by Sports and Healthy Eating

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 16 November 2021 – As the world’s leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company, Nestlé is committed to helping 50 million children lead healthier lives by 2030. Nestlé Hong Kong launched the first Nestlé for Healthier Kids Programme (“Programme”) in 2017-2020, which aims to support children to establish healthy dietary habits and lifestyle. The survey results from the first “Programme” showed the lack of sufficient exercise for students in Hong Kong. Therefore, Nestlé Hong Kong partnered with Hong Kong Rope Skipping Club to promote rope skipping as the first activity for the second Nestlé for Healthier Kids Programme (2021-2024), inviting all children aged between 6-12 years old to participate in the rope skipping challenge and exercise more.

The above photos show the first two rope skipping school tours, in which participating students were active and excited.

The online challenge will be held from 5 November to 30 November 2021. All children aged 6-12 are invited to watch and learn from the online videos and participate in the challenge to win a small prize.

At the same time, the number of schools participating in the school-based nutrition and health promotional activities of the second “Programme” increased to 10 primary schools, with a total of about 800 students participating.

Uplifting Children’s Interest in Exercise by Experiencing Rope Skipping

According to the survey results from the first “Programme”, students did not exercise much during the pandemic. As a result, the proportion of students who could reach the amount of exercise recommended by the World Health Organization[1] dropped to 10% only last year, for which the situation needs to be improved.

In view of this, the first activity of the second “Programme” is to support the Hong Kong Rope Skipping Club to organize a Fun Fun Campus Rope Skipping Programme, which aims to encourage students to utilize simple equipment to maintain moderate amount of exercise in their daily life even during the pandemic while focusing on their studies and developing a balanced diet.

The Fun Fun Campus Rope Skipping Programme is consisted of two parts: school tours and online challenges. For the school tours, 10 campus visits to different primary schools will be arranged during November and December this year, in which the program includes demonstration of rope skipping and guided experience for students to learn and understand the fun of rope skipping. The visits aim to foster students’ better understanding of the fun and benefits of sports, thus further enhance their interest in exercising.

For the online challenges, there are three videos posted on the Hong Kong Rope Skipping Club’s Facebook Fans Page, inviting all students to watch and learn some basic and fancy rope skipping techniques from world-class athletes, then participate in the challenges and win a small prize. The activity has been launched on 5 November, anyone aged between 6-12 years old can take part in the challenges to exercise more and build a healthier lifestyle.

The Second Nestlé for Healthier Kids School-based Programme aims to Build a Healthy Eating and Lifestyle for all Children with a Wide Variety of Activities

In addition to the above, the three-year school-based promotional activities of the second “Nestlé for Healthier Kids Programme” have officially been launched since this September. Nestlé Hong Kong will continue to join hands with the Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion of the Chinese University of Hong Kong to arrange various nutrition and health education activities for children, parents and teachers of participating schools, conduct health survey and carry out fitness test for children. The Center will also obtain a baseline of the “Programme” by understanding the children’s diet, exercise, static activities, sleep time, quality of life, and fitness tests, etc., and follow up on the effectiveness of the “Programme” later on. The number of schools participating in this “Programme” increased from 6 to 10 primary schools, with the number of students participating increased from 500 to 800 in total.

Ms. May Chung, General Manager of Nestlé Hong Kong Limited, said, “Nestlé Hong Kong is committed to creating shared value for the society. In addition to providing consumers with quality food products, we also actively promote nutrition and health for a good life. We use various activities to help nurture healthy children and hope the new “Nestlé for Healthier Kids Programme” can help more students to establish a healthier lifestyle and become a good partner for parents and schools in nurturing healthy children.”

Professor Albert Lee, Founding Director of the Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, shared, “According to our experience from the first “Nestlé for Healthier Kids Programme”, providing students with educational information on healthy eating and exercise will help improve their knowledge thus further inspire positive behavioral changes. We hope that the upcoming school-based promotional activities can continue to uplift the health awareness of students and motivate them to develop healthy eating and living habits since early age, thus hoping to bring a positive impact on their long-term health.”

[1] The World Health Organization recommends that children and adolescents aged 5-17 should do at least 60 minutes per day of moderate to vigorous-intensity activities across the week.

Trend Micro: 90% of IT Decision Makers Believe Organizations Compromise on Cybersecurity in Favor of Other Goals

Trend Micro study reveals urgent need for new way to discuss business risk

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 16 November 2021 – Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), a global cybersecurity leader, today announced new research* revealing that 90% of IT decision makers claim their business would be willing to compromise on cybersecurity in favor of digital transformation, productivity, or other goals. Additionally, 82% have felt pressured to downplay the severity of cyber risks to their board.

To read a full copy of the report, please visit: https://www.trendmicro.com/explore/en_gb_trendmicro-global-risk-study

“IT leaders are self-censoring in front of their boards for fear of appearing repetitive or too negative, with almost a third claiming this is a constant pressure. But this will only perpetuate a vicious cycle where the C-suite remains ignorant of its true risk exposure,” said Bharat Mistry, UK technical director for Trend Micro. “We need to talk about risk in a way that frames cybersecurity as a fundamental driver of business growth – helping to bring together IT and business leaders who, in reality, are both fighting for the same cause.”

“IT decision makers should never have to downplay the severity of cyber risks to the Board. But they may need to modify their language so both sides understand each other,” said Phil Gough, Head of Information Security and Assurance at Nuffield Health. “That’s the first step to aligning business-cybersecurity strategy, and it’s a crucial one. Articulating cyber risks in business terms will get them the attention they deserve, and help the C-suite to recognise security as a growth enabler, not a block on innovation.”

The research reveals that just 50% of IT leaders and 38% of business decision makers believe the C-suite completely understand cyber risks. Although some think this is because the topic is complex and constantly changing, many believe the C-suite either doesn’t try hard enough (26%) or doesn’t want (20%) to understand.

There’s also disagreement between IT and business leaders over who’s ultimately responsible for managing and mitigating risk. IT leaders are nearly twice as likely as business leaders to point to IT teams and the CISO. 49% of respondents claim that cyber risks are still being treated as an IT problem rather than a business risk.

This friction is causing potentially serious issues: 52% of respondents agree that their organization’s attitude to cyber risk is inconsistent and varies from month to month.

However, 31% of respondents believe cybersecurity is the biggest business risk today, and 66% claiming it has the highest cost impact of any business risk – a seemingly conflicting opinion given the overall willingness to compromise on security.

There are three main ways respondents believe the C-suite will sit up and take notice of cyber risk:

  • 62% think it would take a breach of their organization
  • 62% it would help if they could better report on and more easily explain the business risk of cyber threats
  • 61% say it would make an impact if customers start demanding more sophisticated security credentials

“To make cybersecurity a board-level issue, the C-suite must come to view it as a true business enabler,” said Marc Walsh, Enterprise Security Architect at Coillte. “This will prompt IT and security leaders to articulate their challenges to the board in the language of business risk. And it will require prioritized, proactive investments from the boardroom – not just band-aid solutions following a breach.”
