Kolmar Korea Launches Full Operation of 2nd US Factory, Establishing K-Beauty’s ‘Tariff Safe Zone’ in America

  • New 17,805 facility completed in Pennsylvania with an annual production capacity of 300 million units
  • Full ODM production capabilities in the US — from color cosmetics to skincare and suncare — mitigating tariff and supply chain risks
  • ‘MADE BY KOLMAR’ world-class manufacturing technology localized to the US market

OLYPHANT, Pa. and SEOUL, South Korea, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Kolmar Korea has officially completed construction and begun full-scale operations of its second manufacturing facility in the United States, the world’s largest cosmetics market. Located in Scott Township, Pennsylvania, the new plant represents a key strategic move to bolster K-beauty’s global footprint while creating a US-based ‘tariff safe zone’ amid rising trade shocks.

Yoon Sang Hyun, Vice Chairman of Kolmar Group, delivers a commemorative speech at the opening ceremony of Kolmar USA second plant.
Yoon Sang Hyun, Vice Chairman of Kolmar Group, delivers a commemorative speech at the opening ceremony of Kolmar USA second plant.

At the factory completion ceremony held on July 16 (local time), Yoon Sang Hyun, Vice Chairman of Kolmar Group, outlined the company’s broader global ambitions. “The US is where Kolmar’s journey began a century ago. This second factory is not merely a production site but the starting point for a new vision of collaboration and growth. We will build an innovation ecosystem alongside diverse value chain partners to establish the largest cosmetics manufacturing hub in North America,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman Yoon, Pennsylvania State Representative Bridget Kosierowski, state government officials, and affiliated organizations — with around 100 participants present.

The newly completed facility spans 17,805㎡ (191,651 square feet) with an annual production capacity of 120 million units. Combined with Kolmar USA’s first factory, the company now boasts a US production capacity of 300 million units annually. Including its Canadian operations, Kolmar Korea commands a total production capacity of 470 million units across North America — the largest among cosmetics ODMs(Original Development Manufacturer) on the continent.

Specializing in skincare and suncare products — categories seeing surging demand in the US — the second factory complements the color cosmetics capabilities of the first plant. Kolmar Korea is also now certified by the US FDA with an OTC (Over-the-Counter) license for sunscreen manufacturing, enabling the company to respond swiftly to the growing K-sunscreen trend in the US market.

Importantly, Kolmar Korea has transferred its advanced ‘MADE BY KOLMAR’ manufacturing expertise, honed at its Sejong Plant in Korea and recognized by over 4,300 global customers, to the new US facility. The factory was designed to replicate Sejong’s high standards, with specialized zones for manufacturing, filling, and packaging. The integration of cutting-edge AI-powered quality monitoring and process optimization ensures minimal defect rates, while 80% of production is fully automated. Logistics systems and worker movement pathways were also modeled after the Sejong facility to maximize both efficiency and safety.

Kolmar Korea anticipates the second factory will serve as a critical base for avoiding US tariffs on imported cosmetics, providing a robust local production option for both Korean and global brands looking to expand in the US market.

A Kolmar Korea spokesperson remarked, “This is the first time a Korean cosmetics company has directly built a production facility in the US rather than acquiring one, making it a landmark achievement. We’re ready to support K-beauty brands looking to enter the US market without tariff concerns, as well as global customers aiming for North American, European, and South American markets. Our collaboration ecosystem is poised for rapid expansion”.

A novel oral treatment for Alzheimer’s: Actinogen’s pivotal trial currently recruiting participants in the US

All 20 US trial sites are now open in the XanaMIA phase 2b/3 trial that is studying oral Xanamem® vs. placebo for 36 weeks, followed by an open label extension of active Xanamem for up to 24 months

SYDNEY, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Actinogen Medical Limited (ASX: ACW) is encouraging individuals and their loved ones affected by Alzheimer’s disease to take part in a groundbreaking clinical trial that could transform the way we treat this devastating condition.

The trial is enrolling people diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease, offering them a chance to participate in cutting-edge research aimed at stabilizing the cognitive and functional decline of Alzheimer’s.

Xanamem inhibits the production of the “stress hormone”, cortisol, in key areas of the brain that are linked to memory and critical thinking. Watch a two-minute explainer video on how Xanamem works here.

The trial involves taking a single pill once a day of Xanamem or matching placebo (“sugar pill”) and a series of clinic visits for the assessment of Alzheimer’s progress. It does not involve frequent brain scans or complicated procedures such as lumbar puncture.

All participants at the end of the XanaMIA trial are eligible for Actinogen’s open-label extension trial of active Xanamem for up to 24 months. This extension trial will open to completed XanaMIA participants in early 2026.

Who Can Join?

  • Individuals aged 50 or older with a diagnosis of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease

About Actinogen Medical

Actinogen Medical (ACW) is an ASX-listed, biotechnology company in the late clinical stages of development for Xanamem® (emestedastat), its novel oral therapy for Alzheimer’s disease and depression. The Company is based in Sydney, Australia with operations and clinical trials in Australia and the US. Xanamem, has been studied in eight clinical trials with more than 400 people treated to date and has a promising safety and efficacy profile. ACW’s ongoing clinical trial, XanaMIA, is a phase 2b/3 trial of 220 participants with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and is currently enrolling in Australia and the US. To find out more about the trial click here.

About Xanamem (emestedastat)

Xanamem’s novel mechanism of action is to control the level of cortisol in the important areas of the brain through the inhibition of the cortisol synthesis enzyme, 11β-HSD1, without blocking normal production of cortisol by the adrenal glands. Xanamem is a first-in-class, once-a-day pill designed to deliver high levels of brain cortisol control in regions where 11β-HSD1 is highly expressed such as the hippocampus. Chronically elevated cortisol is associated with progression in Alzheimer’s Disease and excess cortisol is known to be toxic to brain cells. Elevated cortisol is also associated with depressive symptoms. Xanamem has demonstrated excellent brain target engagement and in human trials has shown potential to slow progression of Alzheimer’s disease and improve depressive symptoms in patients with moderately severe depression. Neoclouds to Generate Over US$65 Billion in GPU-as-a-Service Revenues by 2030, ABI Research Finds

NEW YORK, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — ABI Research, a global technology intelligence firm, forecasts that neocloud providers (a new class of specialized cloud providers) will generate over US$65 billion in GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) revenues by 2030, as enterprise demand surges for AI-first infrastructure that traditional hyperscalers have been slow to deliver. Neoclouds are capturing market share by offering scalable, sovereign, and developer-centric GPU compute environments that align with the needs of AI-driven organizations.

“Neoclouds are not simply a reaction to GPU shortages—they reflect a longer-term shift toward more tailored, agile infrastructure for AI,” explains Leo Gergs, Principal Analyst at ABI Research. “Chipset vendors like NVIDIA and AMD must be cautious. As control over GPU access and AI workload orchestration shifts to these intermediaries, there is a risk of diminished transparency and reduced direct alignment with enterprise outcomes.”

Unlike hyperscalers retrofitting CPU-centric architectures, neocloud providers operate greenfield environments designed specifically for AI performance. They leverage tight integration with accelerator vendors and full-stack design—from infrastructure to orchestration—to support foundation model training, fine-tuning, and multimodal inference. ABI Research’s analysis categorizes the ecosystem into four archetypes: GPUaaS opportunists, full-stack AI-first platforms, decentralized compute marketplaces, and domain-specific AI infrastructure providers. Companies such as CoreWeave, Lambda Labs, Crusoe Cloud, and Nebius are already redefining go-to-market approaches with reserved capacity, bulk credits, sovereign cloud deployments, and MLOps integration.

“Neoclouds face high capital intensity and pressure to differentiate beyond raw hardware access,” Gergs continues. “Standing up large GPU fleets, building orchestration layers, and offering sovereign infrastructure requires significant upfront investment. Without adtech or SaaS revenue streams, like the hyperscalers, they must rely heavily on partnerships with chipset vendors and integrators to stay competitive. That dependence, however, gives them disproportionate influence—they could become new gatekeepers for AI infrastructure access, similar to the role hyperscalers have long played.” The implications reach beyond infrastructure. As pricing models diversify and sovereignty becomes a competitive differentiator, the balance of power in the AI ecosystem is evolving.

“The rise of neoclouds signals a rebalancing of power in the AI infrastructure value chain,” Gergs concludes. “To thrive, chipset makers, integrators, and enterprises alike must foster open ecosystems, prioritize transparency in orchestration, and diversify their partnerships to avoid lock-in and sustain long-term innovation.”

These findings are from ABI Research’s Mapping the Neocloud Market Landscape: Definitions, Technology Characteristics & Business Models report. This report is part of the company’s Cloud research service, which includes research, data, and ABI Insights.

Pony.ai’s Proprietary L4 Automotive-Grade Domain Controller Achieves 2 Million Kilometer Milestone

GUANGZHOU, China, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Pony.ai, a global leader in autonomous driving, today announced its Level 4 (L4) automotive-grade autonomous driving (AD) domain controller—deployed in the company’s seventh-generation Robotaxi fleet—has surpassed 2 million kilometers of on-road testing. This achievement reflects the system’s exceptional hardware reliability and software adaptability, meeting the rigorous demands of L4 autonomous driving.

Unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April as a production-ready solution for L4 autonomy, Pony.ai’s seventh-generation AD system is built entirely with automotive-grade components. Designed for a lifecycle of 10 years or 600,000 kilometers, the full AD stack—including the domain controller—represents a major leap in performance, durability, and cost-efficiency. Through extensive algorithm optimization and system engineering, Pony.ai has reduced the domain controller’s cost by 80% compared to the previous generation, while also extending its lifespan—substantially lowering the total lifecycle cost of the system.

Developed entirely in-house, the world-first L4 automotive-grade domain controller utilizes three NVIDIA OrinX chips in the main unit with a fourth OrinX chip dedicated to system redundancy, delivering 1,016 TOPS of computing power. Through a co-designed hardware-software architecture, Pony.ai custom-developed the domain controller to meet the comprehensive system and functional requirements of fully driverless Robotaxis, as well as the performance and safety demands of L4 autonomous driving algorithms. As a result, the controller achieves a 50% to 80% reduction in size, weight, power consumption, and cost—significantly optimizing hardware expenses. With continuous algorithm iteration and highly efficient inference optimization, Pony.ai has successfully delivered L4 autonomous driving capabilities and safety assurance using mass-produced, cost-effective, and mature automotive-grade chips.

Functioning as the central computing hub, this controller integrates a wide array of sensors, essential functions and supporting controllers required for Robotaxi operation. These include system power management, interactive display, hazard warning lights, gateways, and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).  By integrating these features into a single unit, Pony.ai has reduced wiring complexity and the number of individual components, streamlining vehicle layout, lowering manufacturing costs, and minimizing potential failure points. Furthermore, it simplifies assembly line processes, making mass production faster and more efficient. The domain controller supports both liquid cooling and passive cooling. When the liquid cooling system encounters malfunction, the redundant system ensures safe pull-over with passive cooling.

The system incorporates a multi-layered safety architecture and degradation strategies, delivering “Fail Operational” capability. In the event of a primary system failure, the controller can seamlessly switch to the redundant system or the Minimum Risk Condition Controller (MRCC) to ensure safe vehicle control. Even if the main system’s power or chassis communication fails, the redundant system can still maintain critical perception (including blind spot coverage) and safe driving capabilities. This allows the vehicle to navigate intersections or ramps and safely pull over, minimizing the risk of traffic disruption or collisions.

At the core of Pony.ai’s system is a “safety first” philosophy, realized through full-vehicle redundancy and a high degree of algorithmic intelligence.  Leveraging its PonyWorld foundation model and reinforcement learning, the company delivers driving performance that consistently surpasses human-level capabilities, while continuously improving its system’s response to complex real-world scenarios.

With seventh-generation Robotaxis now in mass production and actively undergoing road testing, this safe, robust, and cost-effective solution is set to significantly expand Pony.ai’s driverless fleet and enhance user mobility experiences. 2025 marks Pony.ai’s first year of mass production, with a planned fleet of 1,000 autonomous vehicles—a key step toward achieving economies of scale and operational excellence.
