DNV appointed by the ASEAN Taxonomy Board as technical advisor to develop latest version of the ASEAN Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance

ASEAN Taxonomy provides a unified classification system for sustainable economic activities within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations

BANGKOK, Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — DNV, the independent assurance and risk management provider, has been engaged by the ASEAN Taxonomy Board (ATB) to support the development of Version 4 of the ASEAN Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance. This collaboration reinforces DNV’s longstanding role as a trusted ecosystem partner in advancing sustainable finance practices and fostering regional cohesion in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

As a key technical advisor, DNV has been working closely with the ATB working groups to enhance the ASEAN Taxonomy’s scope. This includes refining classifications for focus sectors such as agriculture, forestry and fishing; manufacturing; and water supply, sewerage, waste management.

Additionally, two enabling sectors, information and communication, and professional, scientific, and technical activities, will be incorporated, ensuring a comprehensive framework that addresses both key and enabling industries.

The ASEAN Taxonomy provides a unified classification system for economic activities aligned with sustainability goals. Developed under the guidance of ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, the ASEAN Taxonomy enables an orderly transition to sustainability-focused economies.

By standardising definitions and guidelines, the ASEAN Taxonomy creates pathways for sustainable investments, accelerates the adoption of green financing, and drives meaningful progress towards net-zero targets. ASEAN’s growing focus on Green, Social, and Sustainability (GSS) financing underscores the urgency of addressing climate change, resource scarcity, and inequality.

The ASEAN Taxonomy offers a common language to bridge regional disparities, enabling a cohesive strategy for achieving sustainable economic growth and attracting international investment. The ASEAN Taxonomy also acts as the taxonomy of equivalence for ASEAN Member States’ national taxonomies.

“The release of the latest version of the ASEAN Taxonomy marks a pivotal moment in ASEAN’s journey toward a sustainable future,” said Eugene Wong, CEO of Sustainable Finance Institute Asia (SFIA), Host of the ATB. “SFIA is pleased to have worked with DNV to contribute to the ATB’s efforts in creating a common language for ASEAN on sustainable finance that will facilitate a just and orderly transition for the region, incorporating credibility with pragmatism.”

“We are honoured to continue our longstanding relationship with the ATB and contribute with our technical expertise to the ASEAN Taxonomy’s latest development, a critical milestone for sustainable finance in the region,” added Percy Lakdawalla, Regional Manager Asia Pacific, India and Middle East, Supply Chain & Product Assurance at DNV. “Version 4 of the ASEAN Taxonomy will provide stakeholders across ASEAN with the tools to align their efforts with global sustainability objectives while effectively addressing local priorities and challenges.”

“This collaboration underscores our continued commitment to supporting the ATB in advancing sustainable finance across ASEAN, leveraging our global expertise to create tailored solutions for regional needs” noted Thomas Leonard, Head of Sustainability Services ASEAN – Supply Chain & Product Assurance at DNV.

Together with the ASEAN Taxonomy Board, DNV aims to enable an inclusive and resilient pathway towards a sustainable future for ASEAN and beyond.

  • Hosting a roadshow for major European clients, gearing up to target European markets

SEOUL, South Korea, Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — LG Innotek (CEO Moon Hyuksoo) announced on February 19 that it will participate in the 34th Lighting Workshop organized by Driving Vision News(DVN) to showcase its innovative automotive lighting technology.

Headquartered in France, DVN is a leading publication and academic organization in the automotive components industry. It hosts annual Lighting Workshops worldwide, which are renowned as a platform for exchange that brings together global leaders in vehicle OEMs and electronic components to discuss key issues of the automotive lighting industry and share insights on technology trends.

This year’s first DVN Lighting Workshop will take place on February 19 and 20 at Motorworld Munich, Germany. Various seminar sessions will be held over two days under the theme of ‘Next Challenges: Sustainability, Development Speed Acceleration, and Software.’

LG Innotek will participate in the session titled ‘Innovative Technology – Light Source’ on the afternoon of February 19, where it will introduce the innovative technologies that the company has applied to Nexlide, a flexible stereoscopic automotive lighting module.

The company holds more than 700 patents related to surface light sources (a light source with a surface with uniform illumination and no thickness). This technology enables the creation of automotive lighting modules that are thinner but emit light more evenly and brightly, enhancing automotive design flexibility for clients.

During the workshop, an exhibition will also be held to showcase new next-generation automotive lighting products from participating companies. LG Innotek will install a booth and exhibit its Nexlide lineup, all of which can be applied to the front and rear of vehicles.

These include Nexlide A, a rear lamp module that minimizes module thickness while providing bright, even light using LG Innotek’s unique micro-optical pattern technology, and Nexlide A+, the industry’s first surface light source module for front-end lighting applications. LG Innotek won the Innovation Award for Nexlide A+ at CES 2025.

Other highlights of the exhibition include Nexlide C+, which uses 3D lighting technology to create 3D images, and Nexlide M, which can be mounted on both the front and rear of a vehicle and for which orders have been steadily increasing.

LG Innotek will also unveil two new Nexlide products: Nexlide Edge, which has been made slimmer by replacing the LED packages with LED chips, and Nexlide Vision, which combines Pixel Lighting and Smart Film technologies to create various text and animation effects.

Nexlide Vision will be exhibited through a hands-on demonstration for visitors. Its main feature is its ability to create not only pixels but also lines and planes. Visitors can write messages on a digital pad installed next to the product, and the text will appear on the automotive lights.

An LG Innotek representative said, “Our technology is a key technology in the future mobility era as it significantly enhances V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communication using vehicle lamps,” and added, “Currently, when a vehicle makes a sudden stop, all the driver can do is activate the hazard lights. Once Nexlide Vision is commercialized, however, vehicles will be able to communicate the driver’s situation to the outside world in greater detail, such as the reason for the sudden stop and what kind of help is needed.”

Following the DVN Lighting Workshop, LG Innotek plans to conduct a roadshow for major European OEM clients, seeking to expand its share of the region’s automotive lighting market. The company aims to grow its automotive lighting business into billion-dollar enterprise by 2030.

Byaengkuk Yoo, head of LG Innotek’s Automotive Components Business Unit, commented, “LG Innotek will continue to introduce automotive lighting module products that deliver exceptional customer value and grow to become a reliable technology partner—in not only North America but also Europe and Japan.”

Japanese Distilled Spirits Maker Hamada Syuzou Launches “CHILL GREEN bitter & tropical” Featuring Brand-new Flavor in Botanical “Shochu” Series

– New Product Combines Pink Grapefruit Note with Rare Galaxy Hop; Company Looking to Further Expand Product Reach in Asian Market in 2025 –

ICHIKIKUSHIKINO, Japan, Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Hamada Syuzou Co., Ltd. based in Ichikikushikino City, Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, released an innovative product in its botanical “shochu” (distilled spirits) series, “CHILL GREEN bitter & tropical,” on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Japan’s declining overall alcoholic beverage industry, including “honkaku” (authentic) shochu, has seen a new wave of drinks that emphasize a specific aroma or base ingredient as its main feature. This phenomenon has overturned the traditional image of shochu and has been further developing the market by bringing new ways of enjoying spirits to consumers.

First released in February 2023, the “CHILL GREEN spicy & citrus” version features citrusy, crisp and piquant flavors thanks to “maqaw” spice. Its bottle has garnered praise from outside the traditional circle of buyers, gradually finding its roots in the alcohol market. The brand-new “bitter & tropical” version is the second offering in the series. Thanks to the rare Galaxy aroma hop, this new flavor achieved that classic pink grapefruit sensation with a zesty, tart flavor. Following the success of the initial bottle, the company will continue to spearhead the shochu industry into the next era, broadening the customer base and creating more ways to enjoy the drink.

Spirits’ Overview

BASE INGREDIENT

The company’s attention was drawn to hops in its search for a botanical ingredient that could help create new original flavors, specifically when combined with barley shochu. Galaxy is a highly rare variety in the world of hops, accounting for just 1% of global production. The aroma creates the sensation of a mixture of passion fruit and crisp citrus, providing a pleasant bitterness. Combining the company’s unique production techniques, it has achieved the sweet, citrusy aroma and modest bitterness that suggest pink grapefruit.

FLAVOR DESIGN

The essence of “CHILL GREEN bitter & tropical” allows a distinct savoring of its full flavors over the course of drinking. The company recommends starting with a soda water mix, which provides a pleasant pink grapefruit note, followed by the authentic natural flavors of barley shochu. The shochu serves to coat dishes with, and provides at the end, a slight bitterness derived from the Galaxy hop, thus enhancing the dish’s originality. For the soda water mix, the company suggests 1:2 for an extra pink grapefruit-ness and experiment with 1:1 to enjoy more of a passion fruit-like rich flavor. As shochu has traditionally been popular as a table drink in Japan, the company will continue this heritage and keep exploring the possibilities that broaden combinations with various dishes.

NAMING & BOTTLE DESIGN

The name CHILL GREEN was coined in a lexical combination of Chill Out as in “to relax” and Green that took inspirations from “botanical” and “natural.” These are the ideas and feelings that went into the creation of this series. The bottle design of the company’s first release, “CHILL GREEN spicy & citrus” (25%, 720mL), won the Lilly Franky Award (by head judge) at the 20th Glass Bottle Award 2024, where awards are based on the various aspects of glass bottles, such as design, functionality and environmental friendliness. The company is continuing the wine bottle shape for this second flavor.
