Thai Tourist Bookings to Laos Surge 5,262 Percent on Trip.com, Report Shows

Thai bookings for trips to Laos skyrocketed 5,262 percent in 2026 on Trip.com, following Thailand’s position as the top source of foreign tourists in Laos in 2025.

Thai tourist bookings to Laos have surged 5,262 percent in 2026, according to Trip.com’s latest travel report, with the China-Laos railway credited as a key driver of the boom.

The data was presented in the report “2026 Trip.Best Thailand Unpacked” report, released in Bangkok on 13 March, which analyzed travel behavior from more than 217 million global users on the Trip.com platform,  an online travel agency offering booking services for flights, hotels, trains, car rentals, and attractions.

The dramatic rise is largely attributed to improved regional connectivity, particularly the China-Laos railway, which has made the country a more accessible and appealing destination for Thai visitors, especially the traveling from Vientiane Capital to Luang Prabang City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as one the main destinations for Thai tourists.

This trend is further supported by existing ties between the two nations, Thailand already accounts for the largest share of Laos’ tourist arrivals, with nearly 1.5 million Thai visitors in 2025, representing 32 percent of the country’s 4.5 million total arrivals that year.

The surge in Laos-bound travel reflects a wider boom in Thai outbound tourism, with international bookings rising more than 80 percent in 2026. China leads as the top destination at 53.9 percent of bookings, followed by Japan at 23.1 percent and Vietnam at 7.8 percent.

Thai travelers are also becoming more discerning, with demand for themed hotels climbing 75 percent. Natural scenery, curated four-star properties, and luxury accommodations are among the top preferences driving this shift.

As regional travel appetite continues to grow, Laos is well-positioned to benefit, with the government projecting up to 6 million international tourist arrivals in 2026.

SKF announces new business segments and releases restated figures

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, March 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — SKF today announces the introduction of a new segment reporting structure, effective from Q1 2026. The purpose of these changes is to reflect the Group’s strategic focus and to provide increased transparency ahead of the planned separation of the Automotive business. SKF is also publishing restated financial information for the new segments for 2024 and 2025.

New segment structure

Under the new structure, SKF will report three business segments including two industrial segments – Bearing Solutions and Specialized Industrial Solutions (SIS) – and one Automotive segment. SIS include, as previously communicated, the stand-alone and strategic core businesses Aerospace, Lubrication Lifetime Solutions, Sealing Solutions, and Magnetic Solutions.

In addition to the three business segments, corporate function costs as well as internal sales between the Industrial segments and the Automotive segment are reported under “Other”. Previously these costs and transactions were included in the business segments. From 2026, Automotive carries their own central costs which are reported in the Automotive segment.

Restated figures reflecting changes in financial reporting and business transfers

The restated figures for 2024 and 2025 released today are presented to enable comparability and to illustrate how the new segment reporting structure would have looked historically.

As part of the new reporting structure, SKF’s sealing business for automotive applications is transferred from the Automotive segment to SIS. This transfer is only a financial reporting change as the operational responsibility has always been within the Seals business, which means that both operations and reporting for this business now are the same. As a consequence, sales for the Automotive segment in 2025 decreases with BSEK 2.4.

In addition, the restated financials mirror all separation related business transfers, such as production capacity and logistic centres, from Industrial to Automotive, reflecting to the extent feasible the Automotive footprint as it will be at point of separation. As previously communicated, SKF’s objective is to list the Automotive business on Nasdaq Stockholm during Q4 2026, subject to the Board of Directors proposing a distribution and listing of the Automotive business and the shareholders’ approval.

New customer industry breakdown

The new business segment reporting does not change the customer industry breakdown for the Automotive segment. For the Industrial operation, i.e. the combined segments Bearing Solutions and SIS, a revised customer industry breakdown is introduced including seven main industry groups: Aftermarket & service; Industrial mobility and defence; High-speed machinery and electrical; Heavy industries; Sustainable food supply; Advanced technology; and Other OEM.

The new segment reporting and restated figures will be applied in external financial reporting from the first quarter of 2026.

More information and attached documents will also be available on: https://www.skf.com/group/investors. The restated financial information has not been audited.

Taobao Malaysia Shares Raya Shopping Trends as Malaysians Prepare for Festive Gatherings

In the weeks leading up to the Raya celebrations, searches for home organisation and hosting essentials on Taobao Malaysia increased by 70%, reflecting households’ efforts to streamline meal preparation, organise spaces for visiting relatives, and create welcoming environments for open houses. This momentum extended offline, with over twenty thousand visitors attending Taobao Pesta Raya, a three-day experiential activation at MyTOWN Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur, clearly demonstrating rising consumer engagement with both the platform and its app.

Taobao Malaysia also points to a broader recalibration in festive spending, as Malaysian consumers increasingly favour home solutions that extend beyond seasonal use. High-interest categories such as food storage organisers, kitchen organisers, lighting solutions, and flexible furniture, reflects a shift toward more adaptable, multi-functional living spaces. This reflects a mindset shaped by a heightened desire for smarter, longer-term value, where versatility, durability and everyday utility take precedence over purely seasonal appeal.

Jess Lew, Country Head of Taobao Malaysia, said the observation reflects how Malaysians are increasingly turning to e-commerce platforms not only for convenience, but also for inspiration when preparing their homes for festive occasions.

She continues, “Festive preparations often involve many small but meaningful details, from organising kitchens for cooking to creating comfortable spaces for guests during open houses. What we’re seeing on Taobao is that Malaysians are actively searching for practical solutions that help make these moments easier and more enjoyable. As more shoppers explore online platforms for festive preparations, it also highlights how e-commerce is becoming an integral part of everyday celebrations.”

The Taobao Pesta Raya activation offered a glimpse into where retail is heading; towards experiences that seamlessly connect digital discovery with physical engagement. Reflecting Taobao’s signature “everything and anything”, the event features an extensive variety of products, from home essentials to unique lifestyle finds, showcasing the platform’s vast selection. Through interactive product showcases and tools like image search and QR-enabled journeys, visitors experienced an increasingly fluid path to purchase. The event also encouraged first-time app downloads, highlighting how festive periods like Hari Raya serve not only as peak shopping moments but also as opportunities to observe how Malaysians are increasingly integrating e-commerce into daily life and traditional celebrations.

At the same time, Taobao Malaysia’s Raya sales campaign continues until 20 March 2026, providing shoppers with additional opportunities to explore curated festive home solutions and gain inspiration for their celebrations.
