Direct Genome-Scale Mapping of Endonuclease Activity of the Human LINE-1 ORF2p Endonuclease

Nabsys and the Research Lab of Dr. Martin Taylor, Brown University, Present Data Using the OhmX™ Platform at AGBT 2026

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Feb. 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Nabsys 2.0, LLC (Nabsys), a pioneer in electronic genome mapping (EGM) technology, today announced new findings presented at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology (AGBT) 2026 meeting. The data are featured in a poster titled “Direct genome-scale mapping of endonuclease activity of the human LINE-1 ORF2p endonuclease(Poster 439), presented by the research team of Dr. Martin Taylor, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University.

EGM enables the direct detection of endonuclease activity at the genome scale by identifying DNA nicking events on long DNA molecules. This capability addresses challenges associated with mapping endonuclease-induced nicks within complex DNA mixtures. Beyond endonuclease activity, future applications of EGM may enable direct, genome-wide analysis of additional DNA modifications and damage.

The data presented demonstrate the use of EGM to directly measure nick positions generated by the LINE-1 ORF2p endonuclease across the human genome. This approach unlocks sequence-level insight into endonuclease activity associated with the LINE-1 retrotransposon that causes DNA damage and mutagenizes the human genome.

LINE-1 is an autonomous retrotransposon that expands within the genome through an RNA-mediated “copy and paste” mechanism and has written around one-third of the human genome. Approximately 5% of humans harbor a new LINE-1–mediated genomic insertion that is not present in either parent. By generating DNA breaks that can lead to insertions and structural rearrangements, ORF2p activity is increasingly recognized as a driver of genome instability, especially in cancer. Aberrant LINE-1 activity has also been linked to neurodegenerative disease and age-related decline, underscoring the importance of mapping its activity genome-wide.

“Our understanding of the genomic sequences of LINE-1 endonuclease cuts is limited,” said Dr. Martin Taylor, Principal Investigator of this study. “Understanding this activity is critical to understanding LINE-1-mediated DNA damage in cancer and insertional mutagenesis in sporadic genetic disease. EGM provides a powerful tool to directly map this critical enzymatic activity genome-wide. We’re also very excited about the potential of EGM to be adapted for other assays, such as directly mapping other DNA modifications and binding events.”

To perform the assay, DNA molecules treated with ORF2p endonuclease were labeled using the OhmX Velocity Optimized Label and Tagging™ (“VOLT”) Whole Genome Kit. Prepared samples were then analyzed using EGM on the OhmX™ Platform to identify and map endonuclease nick sites. Nicking frequency was assessed in a concentration-dependent manner to determine endonuclease activity.

“LINE-1 activity contributes to the pathology of common diseases, including cancer, by inducing inflammation and DNA damage,” said Barrett Bready, MD, Founder and CEO of Nabsys. “We are pleased to collaborate with Marty Taylor and his team on this important work. We believe EGM is a powerful tool for directly measuring genome-scale DNA modifications, with the potential to significantly impact cell and gene therapy discovery and development.”

About Nabsys 2.0, LLC

Nabsys is advancing genomics with a clear focus on accessibility and innovation through its proprietary electronic genome mapping (EGM) technology. Implemented on the OhmX™ Platform, EGM integrates precision electronics, nanofluidics, and computational biology to deliver high-resolution insight into genome structure. This approach expands what’s possible in cytogenetics, molecular genetics, and cell and gene therapy research, while providing comprehensive structural variation analysis to laboratories of all sizes. The company was founded in 2005 and is based in Providence, Rhode Island. For more information, visit www.nabsys.com.

About the UA Curriculum
The UA Curriculum includes 12 modules on UA and related topics including internationalization of software applications, IDNs, and EAI, which are key to enabling a multilingual Internet and domain name system.

The Importance of UA
UA is essential to ensuring domain names, including newer, longer top-level domains and those in different languages (in their scripts), such as Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Tamil, and Thai, work as expected in the Domain Name System (DNS). These domain names provide users with a broader choice of digital identities and allows Internet users to better embrace and proliferate cultural traditions online.

Public and private sector organizations across the global are making their systems UA-ready to better serve their communities by supporting domain names and related email addresses in local languages and scripts. Entities that are UA-ready are well-positioned to reach a broader range of current Internet users, as well as the next billion who will come online.

Awareness and understanding of internationalization, IDNs, EAI and UA can give students considering careers as a software developer or related technical focus a competitive advantage, particularly within entities that want to be at the forefront of their industry and are keeping pace with the rapidly evolving multilingual technology and DNS.

TOKYO and NEW YORK, Feb. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — MSIG USA and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, Limited (MSI Japan), collectively referred to in this release as MSIG, today announced their participation in a new insurance-backed credit facility with the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, designed to expand access to finance in emerging markets.

Under the facility, MSIG supports IFC’s efforts to increase lending to banks and financial institutions in emerging markets, enabling greater access to credit for small and medium-sized enterprises and other growth-oriented sectors.

This credit insurance policy forms part of IFC’s Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program (MCPP), a platform designed to mobilize private-sector capacity in support of development finance. By transferring a portion of credit risk to the insurance market, the structure enhances IFC’s capital efficiency and enables additional lending in markets where access to long-term financing remains constrained.

This $6 billion credit insurance policy is one of the largest credit insurance programs arranged by a multilateral development institution to date and represents IFC’s latest execution under the MCPP framework. It will support up to $10 billion in new IFC lending to commercial banks and other institutions. It also marks MSIG’s first participation in an IFC MCPP Credit insurance facility, building on MSIG’s long-standing global engagement in structured risk transfer solutions. MSIG’s global underwriting platform and experience supporting complex, cross-border credit exposures enable close alignment with IFC’s due diligence and risk management frameworks.

“This credit insurance facility shows how private insurers can unlock larger investments and enable more lending to small and medium-sized businesses in emerging markets,” said Kevin Njiraini, Director of Syndicated Loans and Mobilization at IFC. “We thank MSIG for their partnership in delivering this facility, which mobilizes insurers’ underwriting capacity to drive growth and create jobs.”

Through this partnership, MSIG supports IFC’s mission to promote private-sector development, job creation, and economic resilience across emerging and developing economies.

Michter’s 10 Year Bourbon is 94.4 Proof (47.2% ABV). According to Wilson, “The 2026 release of Michter’s 10 Year Bourbon is again a smooth, rich, complex, and captivating pour that evokes feelings of warm, reminiscent appreciation of a great whiskey.  With its rich array of flavors it continues to remind that you don’t have to have a high proof to get a rich, flavorful drinking experience.”

The 2026 release will have a suggested retail price of $195 for a 750ml bottle in the U.S. “Ten Year Bourbon is very special for us because, along with 10 Year Rye, it was one of the two first types that Kentucky Michter’s ever released. As our team has continued to strive towards the goal of producing the greatest American whiskey, we have done all we can to make each offering of our 10 Year Bourbon a full flavored, rich whiskey that offers a memorable taste experience,” commented Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco.

In October 2025, Michter’s became the first whiskey to be named in three consecutive years The World’s Most Admired Whiskey by an international academy of voters convened by UK-based Drinks International. Michter’s has a rich and long legacy of offering traditional American whiskeys of uncompromising quality.
