RHB Lao Junior Football Cup Kicked Off to Develop Youth’s Football Skills

This Week

The RHB Banking Group has organised the football competition – the RHB Lao Junior Football Cup – as an inaugural football tournament to empower and inspire children to overcome life’s challenges by promoting confidence, hope and the camaraderie that comes through sports.

The event was held in cooperation with Lao Football Federation and kicked off in Vientiane Capital on August 20 in the presence of the Country Head of RHB Bank Lao Mr Danny Ling, as well as the Board of Directors and Senior Management of the Group.  The event drew more than 300 children from Vientiane Capital and other provinces of Laos.

The tournament is a corporate responsibility initiative by RHB Banking Group, Malaysia’s fourth largest financial services group. The objective of the event was to support the development of youth football in Laos, where football is widely regarded as the country’s favourite sport.

While the Group strengthens its presence in the ASEAN region, RHB remains committed to going beyond just profits. It has always given priority to building holistic financial services and will continue to reach out to the communities where it operates.

During the event, the young participants had the opportunity to interact directly with Laos’ National football stars and coaches, who were their mentors and referees for the tournament. In a separate charity to raise funds for the United Nations on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, RHB Bank Lao Limited and a group of corporate customers both donated US$2,000 to United Nations Development Programme.

Mr Danny Ling, Country Head of RHB Bank Lao Ltd, said “RHB has only been in Laos for two years but we already see ourselves as part of a close-knit Laotian community. The development of football is something that RHB has always been passionate about and we are glad that through this event, Laotian children have had the opportunity to dabble in professional, competitive football with access to proper playing fields, equipment and qualified coaches.”

The event was assisted in event organization by Sengdara Communications. Please contact 020 5801 7777 for more detailed information on event management and advertising. View more info at www.sengdara.com.
