Vientiane Capital has completed preparations to host the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits which are scheduled for early next month.
The completed works include urban cleaning, decorations of flowers, and the installations of national flags, ASEAN, and dialogue partner banners and slogans along the sides of main streets in Vientiane making the municipality more beautiful to become the new face of the country.
All works were completed to welcome and provide hospitality for attendees of the forthcoming 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits that the Lao PDR has been honoured to host.
“Vientiane Urban Administration and Service, an appointed service unit under the supervision of the sub-committee to serve the ASEAN Summit, has so far accelerated urban cleaning and the installation of banners and flowers to ensure that the Vientiane municipality is clean and welcoming. We have been washing the streets once a week instead of once a month, along with weekly road sweepings and vacuuming,” said Mrs Vilayvone Chanthalatry, Head Office of Vientiane Urban Administration and Service.
“We also focused on improving public gardens by adding flowers in the public parks of Chao Anouvong, Sikhot, Saphengleng, Saysettha, 23 August, the 450 Years Roundabout, Thatdam, Donmoun, Champa and Houayxone-Houaysua, and rearranged the street stalls at Victory Gate,” she added.
She has called on all sectors of society to work hand in hand to be a good host under the Vientiane slogans of living together, joining in preservation, developing together, working hand in hand to deal with problems, and jointly participating in development so as to move the civilisation forward.
