Laos has recorded 195 cases of Covid-19 today, bringing the total number of cases to 14,104.
Dr. Lattanaxay Phetsouvanh led the daily announcement by the Covid-19 Taskforce today, saying that 3,367 tests had been recorded over the last 24 hours, with 195 new cases confirmed.
Some 46 community cases were recorded, with 14 cases in Vientiane Capital, 15 cases in Bokeo, two in Xayaboury, one in Oudomxay, and three cases in Luang Prabang. Savannakhet saw nine cases of community spread, with eight of these recorded among prisoners, while Champasack saw two cases.
In Vientiane Capital, Dr. Lattanaxay said that two cases were recorded in Simmano Neua Village, with two cases in Simmano Tai, and six cases in Dondou Village, while two cases were recorded in Nongveng Village, and one case in Dongphohae Village.
The remainder of the cases in Vientiane Capital involved employees of quarantine centers.
In Champasack, two quarantine center employees were also infected with Covid-19, while a 49-year-old woman in Oudomxay tested positive for Covid-19 after attending a funeral in Nan District, Luang Prabang Province; she had shared a van with an infected person who had traveled from Bokeo.
In Bokeo, 10 of the 15 infected persons resided in the red zone of Yai Village, including a one-month-old child, while three others from Ton Pheung District who were employed in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone tested positive, with one more in Don Savanh Village in Ton Pheung, while another person in Houay Xay District tested positive after attending the funeral in Nan District, Luang Prabang.
In Luang Prabang, three people were also infected with Covid-19 after attending the funeral in Nan District.
Two people in Xayaboury also tested positive after attending the funeral.
Meanwhile, 149 imported cases were recorded, with 32 in Savannakhet, 46 in Champasack, 38 in Vientiane Capital, 12 in Khammouane, 15 in Salavanh, four in Bolikhamxay, and two in Luang Prabang.
There are now 5885 active cases of Covid-19 in Laos, while 12 deaths have been confirmed, with the total number of cases now having reached 14,104.
