Laos to Play Cocky Cambodia Before Leaving AFF Suzuki Cup

This Week

Laos could have its chance to break a losing streak when it faces off against cocky Cambodia later today in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020.

Laos will not advance to the second round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 after losing three consecutive matches in the Group B division, but will still play the fourth match against Cambodia.

The Lao side has already suffered major losses to Vietnam and Malaysia, while a catastrophic match saw Indonesia thrash the Lao team 5-1.

Striker Billy Ketkeophomphone, on loan from France, did his best to lead his team but the Lao players were simply no match for opponents from other Southeast Asian countries.

However, the upcoming match against Cambodia could provide a small victory for the Lao team before leaving the tournament.

The Cambodian side has also failed to win a single match thus far in the tournament, despite Cambodian media referring to the Lao team as “lowly Laos.”

The AFF Suzuki Cup is one of the region’s biggest football tournaments, held every two years since 1996.

Laos and Cambodia will face off today in a more evenly matched game at 4:30pm (Laos time) at the Bishan Stadium in Singapore.
