The President of Laos arrived in Beijing this week for a state visit in response to an invitation from the Chinese President, Xi Jinping.
President Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife arrived on Tuesday at Beijing International Airport and were welcomed by Liu Jianchao, Chinese Director of the International Liaison Department.
His trip will last from 29 November to 1 December and an official welcome ceremony will also be held in honor of the Lao president on the last day of the visit.
KPL reports that the visit is meant to strengthen the relations and comprehensive strategic partnership with four good spirits, namely “being good neighbors,’ “good friends,” “good comrades,” and “good development partners,” as well as continuing the building of a shared future.
The Lao president is expected to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, as well as the President of China’s National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu in China’s National People’s Congress.
According to China Global Television Network (CGTN), the Lao president’s visit coincides with the Lao National Day, which highlights the socialist unity between Laos and China. More projects and developments are expected after the two countries successfully collaborated for building the Laos-China Railway.
President Sisoulith first visited China in 1970 when he went to Nanning, South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
