Thailand Announces New Scholarships For Neighboring Countries

Thailand Scholarship 2023 has recently been announced for students from four of its neighboring countries, namely Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) collaborated with 12 Thai universities in launching the Thailand Scholarship 2023 for students from Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar. The last date for sending in applications is 31 March.

The kingdom is offering 68 scholarships to eligible students from the four aforementioned nations to pursue master’s and doctorate degrees at Thai universities.

Applicants can select one program and one university in their application and depending on their qualifications the committee of the chosen university will make the final decision on their admission.

According to the application guideline, applicants must be nationals of either Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, or Myanmar; have good English proficiency; have academic requirements as specified in the study program; and be in good physical and mental health.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees, monthly living expenses, travel costs to and from the home country at the start and end of the scholarship year, insurance coverage for accidents that may occur while the recipient is studying in Thailand, books, and supplies.

According to Vientiane Times, over 20,000 Lao students enrolled in higher study programs in 25 countries between 2020–2022.

Furthermore, about 3,000-4,000 students enrolled in international education programs with the help of several financial aid options, such as government grants, exchange scholarships, and funding from the public and commercial sectors.
