Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia arrived at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane Capital for an official visit on Monday.
In response to the invitation from his Lao counterpart PM Sonexay Siphandone, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen is paying an official visit to Laos from 13 to 15 February.
The Cambodian PM will pay separate courtesy visits to Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of Laos, and Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the Lao National Assembly and Lao-Cambodian Friendship Association, according to information from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The Lao and Cambodian prime ministers will discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of security, politics, and the economy, as well as share perspectives on sub-regional, regional, and international topics of mutual interest and concern.
After their discussion, the two prime ministers will sign the “Action Plan for the Comprehensive and Long-Lasting Strategic Partnership between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic for the year 2023-2027.”
Prime Minister Hun Sen’s visit to Laos comes as the neighboring country begins preparations for its seventh quinquennial election, in which the country’s leader is expected to run for another five-year term.
