A Lao man took his own life after assaulting his ex-wife and a young girl in Bang Sao Thong District, in the central province of Samut Prakan, Thailand on Tuesday.

The Thaiger reports that the body of 48-year-old Khamphody Dounagchampa from Champasack Province was discovered in a rental room.

The man reportedly attacked his Lao ex-wife and sexually abused her before he managed to escape and abused a 12-year-old girl from Myanmar who lived nearby.

The man and his former partner broke up 2 weeks before the man returned and attacked her, according to information from local reports.

After the incident, the girl and the man’s ex-wife were taken to the hospital for treatment as they had sustained some injuries.

Local police believe the man committed suicide to escape the punishment for his crimes which could be imprisonment for life.

The officers at the Bang Sao Thong Police Station also discovered that the accused was convicted of a sexual assault-related offense earlier while searching for any previous criminal record.

The body of the man was sent to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital for further investigations.
