Cambodia has secured a spot in the Guinness Book of Records for the world’s largest display of origami hearts, announced a Guinness World Records adjudicator on Tuesday.

Organizers displayed nearly 4 million origami hearts at the complex of the renowned Angkor Archaeological Park in northwest Cambodia’s Siem Reap province to showcase their support for the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in May and the 12th ASEAN Para Games in June.

According to Bangkok Post, this feat has broken the previous world record of the largest display of 53,704 origami hearts held by Britain.

Mr. Hun Many, the youngest son of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen supported the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) in accomplishing the origami hearts project.

Guinness World Record official adjudicator Tomomi Sekioka remarked on the occasion saying, “I can now confirm that with 3,917,805 origami hearts, the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia has now achieved a new Guinness world record title.”

“I want to say that I was amazed by incredible teamwork, passion, and discipline,” she added.

During the event, Mr. Many said that the origami hearts project was a gesture to show solidarity and encouragement to all Cambodian athletes who will participate in the upcoming Games. The country will be hosting the event for the first time in 64 years.

“It’s a new pride for Cambodia, and it shows our spirit of love and unity,” he said.
