Laos was recently added to a list of 169 countries that qualify for getting an electronic visa to visit India.

The e-visa system was started in 2017 to make it easier for visitors from numerous countries to get their travel documents in order, without a prior visit to the embassy or standing in long queues upon reaching India to get a visa-on-arrival.

Lao nationals need to meet several requirements to qualify for receiving an India e-visa for tourism, business, or medical purposes. While the tourist e-visa allows for only a 30-day stay in the country, the business e-visa permits multiple entries and is valid for an entire year. Lao visitors approved for medical visas can stay in the country for a total of 60 days within four months, with three allowed entries.

Lao passport holders can get their e-visa for India by simply filling out an online form and providing the necessary personal information and supporting documents that are needed for processing their application.

Indian Visa Requirements for Laotian citizens include having a valid Laos passport with a minimum validity of 6 months at the time of entering the country. Applicants need to share a valid email address to receive the e-visa, a valid credit or debit card for payment of the visa processing fee, an invitation letter, and a business card copy for those applying for business e-visas. For a medical e-visa, a letter is required from the hospital in India where the applicant will be seeking treatment.
