Green and Smart Mobility Launches EV Platform, VinFast Car Sales in Laos

This Week

Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM) has officially launched its Xanh SM Platform in Laos, expanding its electric mobility services and introducing two VinFast electric vehicles — the VF 3 and VF 5 — to the local market.

This marks GSM’s second international venture after Vietnam, offering both electric ride-hailing and vehicle distribution. After a year of operations in Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Savannakhet, and Champasack, Xanh SM has served millions of trips covering over 8 million kilometers, cutting emissions equivalent to CO₂ absorbed by 70,000 trees annually.

The newly launched Xanh SM Platform allows owners of VinFast VF 5 vehicles to join as independent driver-partners, earning up to 87 percent of ride revenue — the highest rate in Laos. Partners also gain access to a wide customer base and professional training programs that meet international green transport standards.

As part of the expansion, GSM opened its first showroom in Phakao Village, Xaythany District, Vientiane, where the VF 3 and VF 5 models are now officially available. The VinFast VF 5, a compact SUV designed for urban transport, is listed at USD 20,690 including VAT.

Customers who place deposits by 31 May will receive a USD 450 discount along with 50 percent off EV charging costs for two years, bringing the effective ownership cost to around USD 19,240. The VinFast VF 3, a compact four-seater ideal for daily use, is priced at USD 12,390 including VAT. With a USD 250 discount and the same charging incentive, the effective cost is reduced to approximately USD 11,890.

At the launch event, visitors had the chance to test drive the vehicles, speak with consultants, and learn more about GSM’s green mobility model. Nguyen Van Thanh, Global CEO of GSM, highlighted the broader vision behind the launch:

“The launch of Xanh SM Platform in Laos is not merely an expansion into a new market, but a strategic step to export a comprehensive and sustainable development model – one that integrates technology, environmental responsibility, and economic opportunity into a single platform. We believe that Vietnam is not only capable of producing green vehicles but also of leading the global transition in how people move. Xanh SM is a testament to that vision.”

With this launch, GSM continues to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia and reaffirms its long-term commitment to helping Laos build a cleaner, more sustainable transportation system.
