Gunman Kills Five in Bangkok Market Shooting Before Taking Own Life

A 61-year-old gunman opened fire at a fresh food market in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district on 28 July shortly after noon, killing five people and injuring two others before turning the gun on himself.

The attacker, identified as Noi Praidaen, was reportedly wearing a black shirt, cream-colored shorts, and carrying a camouflage backpack. According to police, he was a resident of Khong district in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Witnesses say the shooter moved through the market, targeting multiple individuals after initially gunning down security guards.

Authorities later confirmed six fatalities: four market security guards, one female vendor, and the shooter himself.

Two injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The market has been temporarily closed as investigators work to determine the motive and gather further evidence.
