A SPLENDID TRI-MIX
It’s hard to put a finger to the look and feel of The President by Akaryn in Vientaine, the capital of Laos, and it’s easy to see why. The hotel has fused the beauty of an English countryside with its French colonial heritage and traditional local craftmanship. To add to its multi-faceted bloodline, the property was originally constructed by the Chinese government as a gift to the Laotians. The unique blend of cultures results in a three-storey estate that buzzes quietly with life in the heart of tourist district. Set to open on 1 November 2016, The President by Akaryn will join its neighbours, the Parliament House, Haw Phra Kaew and Chou Anouvong Park in becoming an architectural landmark.
The all-suite hotel boasts a Parisian neoclassical façade, juxtaposed with patterned tiles, wooden furniture and ceilings. Each of the 32 suites (from US$407 (S$546) per night based on twin sharing) is outfitted with a neutral colour scheme of cream to create a light and airy feel, drawing you instead to a view of the pool or perfectly manicured garden. While guests have the pleasure of enjoying a private transfer from the airport in a chauffeured Rolls-Royce, Presidential Suite guests can lap up the luxuries of a personal butler service.
Facilities are kept to a minimum to encourage complete relaxation. Apart from four dining spaces that serve French, Mediterranean, international and Laotian cuisines, the in-house Ayurah Wellness facility offers aromatherapy and dermatology treatments, facials, massages, manicures and pedicures.
