Lao Gold Festival 2026 Moves Beyond a Festival, Drawing Over 50,000 Visitors

This Week

The Lao Gold Festival 2026 drew more than 50,000 visitor attendances, nearly double the previous year, and created new opportunities for Laos’ gold industry, financial sector, handicrafts and cultural heritage, organizers said.

The organizing team held a press conference on 30 September to report the festival’s results, share lessons learned and outline the direction for 2027.

The 2026 festival ran from 4 to 6 September at the National Convention Center in Vientiane. It featured more than 50 booths from gold shops and gold-related businesses, over 40 booths showcasing Lao silk and other products, and more than 15 banks and financial institutions. Business partners, experts and speakers from more than 40 companies in over 20 countries also took part.

Organizers signed six memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with domestic and international partners to strengthen cooperation and open the way for future business development. The program included more than 20 seminars, panel discussions and training sessions, where over 60 speakers shared their knowledge and experience.

Preliminary assessments show gold sales and gold deposit mobilization exceeded 230 kilograms. Organizers recorded more than 12,000 app downloads and new account registrations, and participating banks and financial institutions mobilized deposits of more than LAK 50 billion (USD 2.23 million).

The festival also promoted Lao silk, the traditional Pha Khuan, Lao handicrafts and creative gold jewelry craftsmanship. Organizers auctioned outstanding works from the competitions for charity and will direct the proceeds to social assistance initiatives.

For 2027, organizers said they will focus on delivering clearer, more tangible economic and industry impact rather than simply making the festival bigger. They plan to turn the MOUs into concrete projects and business cooperation, advance from a “gold market” to a “gold industry,” and evolve the Lao Gold Festival into a “Lao Gold Ecosystem.”

The event will continue under the vision “Lao Gold to the World: Connecting, Building Trust, Growing Together.”
