Transport Ministry to Build Pedestrian Bridge for School in Vientiane Capital

This Week

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport in Laos will begin construction of a pedestrian bridge on Kaisone Phomvihane Avenue near Laos-Vietnam Friendship High School.

Lao National Radio reports that the ministry will start the construction of the bridge on Wednesday and expects to finish it in four months.

According to the ministry, safety fences and barriers will be built between both roadways within ten days of the start of the construction.

Throughout the bridge’s construction, the u-turn lanes will be temporarily closed to assist with the work.

The ministry has urged motorists and parents to remain cautious during the bridge’s construction and prohibited heavy vehicles from using the road.

Ahead of the construction, parents, the school, and motorists in Vientiane voiced their worries at Laos National Radio on the danger of accidents associated with pupils crossing the road before and after school hours.

Vientiane Capital doesn’t have many pedestrian bridges. One of its bigger bridges is located on Thadeua Road between the BeerLao Brewery company’s factory and the Lao Brewery office building but it’s not open for residents to use.
