SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 11 February 2026 — The Republic of Singapore Yacht Club (RSYC) marked its 200th anniversary (#RSYC200) with a Bicentennial Charity Gala Dinner on Saturday, 7 February 2026, at the club’s Nautica Ballroom.

The milestone event was graced by President of the Republic of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam and attended by over 130 guests, including club members, sponsors and distinguished guests, raising funds in support for the wider community.

Bicentennial Milestone Ceremony

Founded in 1826, RSYC commemorated 200 years of rich heritage through an evening reflecting tradition and a longstanding commitment to service, tracing its journey alongside Singapore’s seafaring story as it evolved into a distinctly Singaporean and multicultural institution.

The programme opened with a Bicentennial tribute video, followed by welcome remarks by the Commodore of RSYC Mr Balakrishnan B. In honour of the club’s enduring legacy of service, fellowship and contribution to the wider community, President Tharman officiated the unveiling of the RSYC Bicentennial Plaque and the ceremonial cake-cutting, joined by Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education and MP for West Coast–Jurong West GRC, RSYC Commodore Mr Balakrishnan B and other members of the RSYC Committee.

The gala also marked the opening event of RSYC’s year-long bicentennial programme, designed to drive member engagement through a series of sporting and social activities held throughout 2026 (refer to Appendix for full list of #RSYC200 events in 2026), and brought together significant figures who have shaped the club across generations.

This included Mr Edward Wong, Managing Director of AWP Pte Ltd and architect of the RSYC’s current clubhouse following the club’s relocation to its present premises in 1999, as well as Mr Francis Lee, RSYC’s first Singaporean Commodore (appointed in 1985) who played a pivotal role in redefining RSYC as a national club with an international membership, while championing initiatives that strengthened sea sports development, professional training and the preservation of the club’s history.

Charity Auction in Support of President’s Challenge

The highlight of the evening was a charity auction, featuring a curated selection of rare and exclusive items, including a one-of-a-kind RSYC Bicentennial Commemorative Pure Gold Coin, limited-edition Bicentennial Pure Silver Coins, and a rare 60-year-old Martell Cognac — one of only 12 in the world — presented in a Baccarat crystal decanter.

RSYC raised a grand total of S$326,692 through the gala dinner and auction, and all proceeds were directed towards The President’s Challenge 2026 – A national movement launched in 2000 by RSYC’s former Patron, the late President S R Nathan, to rally Singaporeans in building a more caring and cohesive society, and to support communities in need.

Later in the evening, a cheque presentation was held in the presence of President Tharman, Mr Desmond Lee, RSYC Commodore Balakrishnan B, and members of the RSYC Committee, followed by a post-dinner heritage exhibition showcasing key milestones from the club’s long and distinguished history.

As a token of appreciation, all attendees were presented with a specially produced RSYC Bicentennial commemorative gold-plated coin, to mark the historic occasion.

“As we mark 200 years of the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, this bicentennial milestone reflects our enduring maritime heritage and the values that have shaped the club over many generations. We are honoured to commemorate this historic occasion through a meaningful initiative in support of The President’s Challenge, reaffirming RSYC’s long-standing commitment to contributing positively to Singapore’s community,” said Commodore Balakrishnan B, Republic of Singapore Yacht Club.

Looking ahead, the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club will continue to build on its heritage as a premier institution, honour its seafaring legacy, and chart its next chapter for centuries more to come, through milestone occasions and activities that contribute meaningfully to national causes and Singapore’s future.

The Bicentennial Charity Gala was made possible with the support of Platinum Sponsors: Royal Salute Scotch Whiskey, Martell; Gold Sponsors: Asiatic Fire System Pte Ltd, and Marina Technology and Construction, Nippon Paint and OCBC; as well as Silver Sponsors: AWP Architects, Cloudable Solutions Pte Ltd. and Sindcon. Neo Garden served as the Official Caterer, with Adidas as the Official Merchandiser.

Powering Hope: VTOMAN Delivers Emergency Energy Solutions to Victorian Communities in Wake of Bushfires

MELBOURNE, Australia, Feb. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As extreme heatwaves and devastating bushfires continue to impact communities across Victoria, causing widespread power outages and disruption, VTOMAN, a global innovator in portable power solutions, has mobilized its resources to aid recovery efforts. In a targeted relief initiative on February 8, the company donated 30 high-capacity portable power stations to impacted families, ensuring access to essential electricity during this critical period.

The donation ceremony, held at St. Hilary’s Anglican Church in partnership with local charity HOPE FOR BOROONDARA AND BEYOND, marked a direct effort to bridge the energy gap for those affected by the crisis. With the region facing unstable grid conditions, reliable power has become a safety necessity rather than a luxury.

“In times of natural disaster, connection is the first thing to be lost, but often the most important thing to maintain,” said a spokesperson for VTOMAN. “Our goal with this donation is not just to provide electricity, but to provide a lifeline. Whether it’s keeping phones charged to reach loved ones, powering medical devices, or simply having a light on during a dark night, we stand with the Australian community to offer tangible support and reassurance.”

The event at St. Hilary’s brought together community volunteers, charity representatives, and VTOMAN team members to facilitate the immediate handover of the units. The donated power stations are designed for rapid deployment, offering plug-and-play usability that requires no installation—crucial for families in temporary accommodation or those facing intermittent blackouts at home.

The partnership with HOPE FOR BOROONDARA AND BEYOND ensured that the aid was distributed efficiently to the households with the most urgent needs, reflecting VTOMAN’s data-driven yet empathetic approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“We listen to the communities we serve,” the VTOMAN team emphasized. “Real-world usability means stepping up when the grid goes down. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen in Australia.”

Mekong Heart Project Treats First Children at Mahosot Hospital

China’s ‘Love Heart Journey' Offers Lifeline to Lao Children Battling Heart Disease

The Mekong Children’s Heart Care Project has treated its first children with congenital heart disease at Mahosot Hospital in Vientiane, marking a major step forward for pediatric cardiac care in Laos.

On 7 February, a visiting medical team treated three children during a one-day mission at the hospital. Health workers identified one child through a school-based heart screening program in Luang Prabang in December 2025, while Mahosot Hospital referred the other two cases.

Health officials said the cases clearly show how early screening can lead directly to life-saving treatment.

The Mekong Institute, the Lao Ministry of Health, Fuwai Hospital, and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences jointly run the project, with funding support from the Chinese government through the Global Development and South–South Cooperation Fund.

Fuwai Hospital sent a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, an ultrasound specialist, and a specialist nurse to work alongside Lao doctors.

The team applied the PAN method, a non-invasive heart procedure that avoids radiation, reduces physical trauma, and allows children to recover quickly, making it well suited for hospitals with limited resources.

Doctors and nurses at Mahosot Hospital participated directly in every stage of diagnosis and treatment, gaining hands-on experience in pediatric cardiac care. Officials said this practical cooperation helps build long-term national medical capacity rather than relying solely on overseas treatment.

Part of a Broader National Heart Care Effort

The successful procedures also support Laos’ wider national effort to address congenital heart disease.

In December 2025, authorities launched the Mekong Children’s Heart Care Project (2025–2027) as a nationwide program to improve early detection, treatment, and follow-up care for children with heart conditions. The Ministry of Health leads the program in partnership with the Mekong Institute and Fuwai Hospital.

Over the next two years, health teams plan to screen at least 10,000 children across the country, including in remote and rural areas. The program aims to provide full-cycle treatment to diagnosed children, with a minimum target of 30 treated cases during the project period.

The initiative also prioritizes capacity building. More than 110 Lao healthcare workers will receive specialized training, while selected doctors and nurses will undertake fellowships at Fuwai Hospital.

Authorities have begun distributing diagnostic equipment, including ultrasound machines, to strengthen services at provincial hospitals.

Light Stone Jewellery’s “Wearable Culture Map”: Defining a New Era of Quiet Luxury through Architectural Silence

SINGAPORE, Feb. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — In an era of noise, Light Stone Jewellery articulates a new dialect of quiet luxury through the silence of its forms. Unveiling a portfolio that functions as a “Wearable Culture Map,” the brand introduces a curatorial approach to designer jewellery, bridging the structural rigour of modern aesthetics with the profound resonance of Eastern antiquity.

Light Stone Jewellery's Tianqing Collection: Reviving the Northern Song Dynasty's Ru Kiln aesthetic for the modern woman.
Light Stone Jewellery’s Tianqing Collection: Reviving the Northern Song Dynasty’s Ru Kiln aesthetic for the modern woman.

Light Stone stands as an intellectual proposition for the contemporary woman. It rejects the transient nature of trend-driven fashion, choosing instead to anchor its identity in the permanence of the modern heirloom. The brand’s philosophy treats every necklace and earring as a geographical coordinate—a precise intersection where the weight of history meets the lightness of contemporary design. Simultaneously, the designs channel a “quiet power,” reflecting the inner strength of the contemporary woman—one who, like deep waters, remains composed and unaffected by the external noise of the world.

The Urban Planner’s Eye: Structure and Void

At the helm of this aesthetic system is Founder Jingjing, whose pedigree in Urban Planning and a Master in Management from ESCP Europe, combined with GIA certifications, informs the brand’s distinct architectural logic.

Jingjing approaches jewellery not merely as ornamentation, but as “Spatial Composition.”

“To me, a piece of jewelry is a coordinate,” says Founder Jingjing. “It maps the silence of history onto the modern body. I navigate the space between structure and instinct, applying the principles of urban planning—balance, void, and tension—to allow the wearer to inhabit the design, rather than simply display it.”

The Brutality of Perfection: The Celadon & Ru Kiln Collection

The core of the collection is the Celadon Tianqing (天青) Collection, a testament to the brand’s uncompromising standards. This series utilizes two primary elements: the nearly lost Ru Kiln technique and Longquan Celadon—a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Among these, the Ru Kiln pieces are exceptionally rare. The firing process requires temperatures exceeding 1380°C, with rare agate infused into the glaze to achieve the legendary “sky after rain” hue. The extreme chemical volatility of this process results in a high failure rate. Light Stone collaborates with master ceramicists to revive this millennial art, yet the selection criteria are ruthless. In every batch of Ru Kiln beads, those meeting the brand’s standard are far below 10%, often dropping to a mere 5%.

The majority are discarded for microscopic imperfections in form or glaze surface. Only the surviving 5-10%—possessing the perfect “Ice Crackle” texture and an unblemished jade-like warmth—are elevated into the Celadon Imperial Earrings. This scarcity is not manufactured; it is the physical residue of a structural dialogue between fire and gravity.

A Cartography of Four Dimensions

The “Wearable Culture Map” extends beyond porcelain, plotting four distinct aesthetic coordinates across China’s material history:

  • The Silk Road (Dunhuang) Collection: Capturing the golden echoes of desert murals, these pieces translate ancient floral patterns into geometric gold vermeil structures.
  • Totem (Majiayao) Collection: Drawing from prehistoric motifs, this series creates a primitive tension, turning Neolithic lines into bold, sculptural forms.
  • Filigree (Huasi) Collection: A study in silver precision. This series deploys the imperial art of thread-weaving to build air-light structures that possess the strength of architectural steel.
  • Celadon (Tianqing) Collection: The crystallization of silence, offering a tactile serenity that cools the skin and calms the mind.

The “Culture Map” is a living geography. Continuing its exploration of diverse regional craftsmanship, Light Stone has announced an upcoming expansion into the art of Lacquer, marking a new coordinate on this unfolding aesthetic journey.

About Light Stone Jewellery

Light Stone is a designer jewellery brand established in 2018 by founder Jingjing. The brand is dedicated to exploring the tension between “historical gravity and aesthetic ease.” Currently, Light Stone leverages dual studios and logistical hubs in Singapore and Shanghai, utilizing Singapore’s efficient global infrastructure to offer Global Priority Shipping. This ensures that every precious artistic asset reaches international collectors with speed and security.
