Artprice by Artmarket congratulates Xie Lei, winner of the 2025 Marcel Duchamp Prize, awarded by ADIAF at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris

PARIS, Oct. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On October 23 in Paris, the 25th edition of the Marcel Duchamp Prize was awarded to Xie Lei, chosen from among four short-listed artists representing the vitality, diversity and international reach of the French scene. Between vulnerability, and metamorphosis, science and poetry, this edition highlighted an art in dialogue with its era.

After Frieze London, Art Basel Paris opens its doors at the Grand Palais, while the auction houses unveil their autumn masterpieces.

Meanwhile, the art world has been celebrating another major event: the award of the Marcel Duchamp Prize, initiated by the ADIAF (Association for the International Diffusion of French Art) and supported by Artprice by Artmarket.

The Marcel Duchamp Prize was initiated 25 years ago by a group of French collectors and the ADIAF. It received significant impetus from French collector Gilles Fuchs, who noted a decline in the international reputation of French artists in the 1990s. His motivation was to contribute to a better representation and promotion of French art in a delicate context for the French contemporary art market.

This year, the prestigious Prize was awarded to painter Xie Lei, whose paintings occupy a disconcerting space between dreams and reality, inviting us to slow the pace of our visual consumption and rediscover the emotional power of images.

Thierry Ehrmann, Founder of Artprice and CEO of Artmarket.com, praised “the creativity, symbolic power and diversity” of this edition, congratulating the winner Xie Lei as well as finalists Bianca Bondi, Eva Nielsen and Lionel Sabatté, all examples of the wealth of the current French art scene:

“Artprice by Artmarket is very proud to support the Association for the International Diffusion of French Art (ADIAF) and the Marcel Duchamp Prize. In a context where Paris is establishing itself as the most dynamic marketplace in the world in terms of the number of contemporary works sold at auction, the Marcel Duchamp Prize fully contributes to the promotion of the French art scene and its influence. This ambition is shared by the Minister of Culture, Madame Rachida Dati, in her new plan to strengthen the French contemporary art scene.”

Claude Bonnin, President of ADIAF :

“For 25 years, each edition of the Marcel Duchamp Prize has been a tribute to the vitality and creativity of the contemporary French art scene. On behalf of the 300 collectors of the ADIAF, I would like to warmly congratulate the winner, Xie Lei. I am delighted with the quality of the Marcel Duchamp Prize exhibition, presented for the first time this year at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris. This edition exemplifies the superb collective formed by the State, the City of Paris, and the ADIAF around a common objective: to promote the French scene by giving essential visibility to its artists, in France and internationally. I would also like to emphasize that, in addition to this exhibition, the four finalists will benefit from our association’s support program, including residencies at the Manufacture de Sèvres and the Villa Albertine as well as exhibitions abroad.”

A prize has become a global benchmark

In a quarter of a century, the Marcel Duchamp Prize has established itself as a major marker of contemporary creation, comparable to the prestigious British Turner Prize and the American Hugo Boss Prize. Supported by the French Ministry of Culture and a number of major public institutions, each year it highlights French or French-domiciled artists whose works embody the vitality, diversity, and quality of the current scene.

The winner receives an endowment of €35,000 and support from a museum with a view to enhancing their international visibility, in conjunction with a network of partners such as the French Institute, the Manufacture de Sèvres, national Museums, and the Villa Albertine in the United States.

Beyond the financial reward, the “Prix Marcel Duchamp” is therefore a substantial recognition accelerator that has already benefited artists like Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Kader Attia, Tatiana Trouvé, Tarik Kiswanson and Melik Ohanian, whose recognitions all extended well beyond French borders after being nominated as winners of the prize.

As Claude Bonnin, President of ADIAF: “The Marcel Duchamp Prize is not intended to reward emerging artists, but to support those with international potential.”

This greater visibility naturally translates into the art market, with the winners gaining easier access to museum collections and their galleries benefiting from a stronger sales dynamic. Above all, the Prize confers lasting critical legitimacy, placing their works in the long term, somewhat above the fluctuations of fashion and short-term trends.

The 2025 finalists

The 2025 edition of the Marcel Duchamp Prize once again attests to the vitality and diversity of the French scene, bringing together four artists with unique paths and worlds, exploring themes of materiality, memory, and metamorphosis.

For Bianca Bondi (born in 1986 in Johannesburg, represented by the gallery Mor Charpentier, Paris), transformation is a process as poetic as it is spiritual. Her installation Silent House evokes a dwelling suspended between dream and memory: patinated furniture, plants and salt basins are covered in crystals, revealing the living memory of matter and the beauty of the passage of time.

Eva Nielsen (born in 1983 in Les Lilas near Paris, represented by the galleries Peter Kilchmann and The Pill) explores the porosity of images and surfaces. A painter-photographer, she layers latex, leather, silk, and screen printing to create fragmented landscapes where the memory of places dissolves into the pictorial texture. Her works invite a stratified interpretation of reality, between figuration and abstraction.

For Lionel Sabatté (born in 1975 in Toulouse, represented by the Ceysson & Bénétière gallery), matter becomes memory. True to his practice of collecting – dust, ash, dead skin, tree fragments – this time, the artist has gleaned the residues of the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, to create a new series of dust drawings. Between fragility and mystery, he makes the invisible a tangible presence.

Finally, Xie Lei (born in 1983 in China, represented in Paris by the Semiose gallery) deploys an introspective style of painting, nourished by literary and cinematographic references. His canvases, bathed in ambiguity, suspend the gaze between dream and reality. Against the current of contemporary celerity, he offers a deceleration of time, a meditation on the persistence of images and the depth of the visible.

From among these diverse approaches – between materiality, memory, and perception – the jury chose to distinguish Xie Lei for the singular strength of his work and the relevance of his reflection on contemporary societal issues.

A changing French scene

The 2025 selection of artists highlights how the French scene is becoming increasingly international while asserting its own identity: a focus on technique, materials, memory and the environment. These artists do not claim to be part of a “French style” but rather have adopted a posture of openness, where the boundaries between disciplines and origins are blurred.

The ADIAF, true to its original spirit, continues to play a leading role in this dynamic. By organizing more than sixty workshop visits each year across France and abroad, it maintains a dynamic link with creations in progress. This fieldwork feeds into a highly demanding selection process, supported by more than 300 committed art collectors.

A 2025 edition marked by a change of venue

This 25th edition has a special significance: for the first time, the exhibition of the nominated artists was held not at the Centre Pompidou, which is currently undergoing renovation for four years, but at the Musée d’Art Moderne of Paris (MAM). This change of setting, far from being anecdotal, was an opportunity to rethink the presentation of the Prize and the exhibition of artists’ works. Its curators, Julia Garimorth and Jean-Pierre Criqui, have made every effort to offer a coherent journey through the diversity of the proposals.

Fabrice Hergott, Director of the Musée d’Art Moderne of Paris:

Xie Lei’s paintings are a particularly accomplished expression for the beginning of the 21st century. Since the September 11, 2001 attacks, there has been a general feeling of doubt and vertigo. Lei’s work offers a representation that is both concise and captivating, making him one of the most remarkable figures of the new French scene. We are happy to be able to show them at the Museum of Modern Art as part of the 25th prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize.”

For the ADIAF, this edition of the Marcel Duchamp Prize celebrates a quarter of a century of collective commitment to promoting the French scene, not as a school or a style, but as a true laboratory of experimentation. As the Centre Pompidou begins its transformation and the Musée d’Art Moderne of Paris reaffirms its support for the artists of our time, this 2025 edition embodies a transition full of vitality, welcomed by a large and enthusiastic audience.

A powerful symbol for French art – and a substantial boost for the future of its winner.

After five years, VinFuture stands as a symbol of confidence in science for humanity

HANOI, VIETNAM – Media OutReach Newswire – 27 October 2025 – Professor Sir Richard Henry Friend, Chair of the VinFuture Prize Council, shared that what began as a bold idea five years ago has grown into a symbol of confidence in the power of science to serve humanity. For him, being part of VinFuture is not merely a mission, but a deeply inspiring journey—one that brings together brilliant minds from across the globe to seek out and celebrate the scientific innovations that have the power to change lives.

The Chair of the VinFuture Prize Council observed that the VinFuture Prize embodies a spirit of optimism, inspiring and encouraging endeavors that contribute to a better world. Photo: VFP.

VinFuture: Free-spirited, bold, and ahead of its time

Looking back on the Prize’s remarkable five-year journey, Professor Friend shared that all the feedback he had received from his colleagues had been “one of huge positivity.” He recalled that many were initially unsure “if a newly founded prize from Vietnam can make it globally,” but today, VinFuture proudly celebrates “a wonderful list of VinFuture Prize Laureates from all over the world.”

Having already recognized four sets of winners, with the fifth to be announced later this year, he believed that “there is a quality about the group of prize winners we’ve recognized that is highly appreciated globally.”

When asked to describe VinFuture’s five-year journey in a single word, Professor Friend did not hesitate: “Optimism.” He explained, “We tend to be too negative in the developed world. We tend to find things that are wrong, not things that are right. What is so refreshing with the VinFuture Prize is the appreciation that we can make the world better. We count what has been good and we celebrate it.”

He emphasized that the VinFuture Prizes are “not tied to a particular area. It’s not chemistry or physics. It’s everything that can create a better future for humanity.” What sets VinFuture apart, he continued, “is the freedom we have to interpret the Founders’ vision. Our criteria are broad. That flexibility makes possible the freedom to explore fields that may only gain broad recognition in the years to come.”

Expressing his satisfaction with the Council’s approach, Professor Friend remarked, “I’m very pleased that we have that boldness to make some awards ahead of where others later have arrived. And that is precisely what keeps VinFuture ahead of its time.”

Reflecting on his work with the Prize Council, Professor Friend highlighted what he valued most — “the genuine learning spirit.” The Council, he said, “brings together people from very different professional fields, but we all share one thing in common — a love of learning.” Every discussion, he added, “becomes an opportunity to learn something new. We learn from the nominations and from the investigations we conduct. Altogether, it’s driven by a shared sense of curiosity and discovery.”

Although the decisions are always challenging, Professor Friend noted that the Council works “closely” and “reaches consensus.” He explained, “We all approach discussions with the same goal: to understand deeply the impact of each nomination, thereby ensuring a fair decision and honoring the most deserving achievement. We ask tough questions, we dig into details, and in the end, we reach consensus.”

Vietnamese people are capable of achieving great things

Reflecting on VinFuture’s founding during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic — a time filled with uncertainty — Professor Friend described that moment as “a real wake-up call that the whole world has to work as one.” He noted that the pandemic had shown how quickly crises could spread across the globe, and how essential it was for solutions to be global in scale. In that context, the establishment of VinFuture carried “profound significance: to honor the efforts that bring about positive change for humanity.”

He recalled with emotion the first VinFuture Grand Prize, awarded to the scientists who discovered the mRNA vaccine technology — “winners who later received the Nobel Prize.” Their visit to Vietnam in January 2022, despite global lockdowns, was deeply moving to him. “Meeting the people who had helped save millions of lives, right in the midst of the pandemic, was an experience I’ll never forget,” he said.

He described the award ceremony in Hanoi as “a very special moment — a moment of global coming together and a real sense of hope and opportunity.” The fact that it took place in Vietnam, he added, made it even more powerful, as it “represented the whole of the world.”

Speaking about VinFuture’s broader impact, Professor Friend emphasized that the Prize has brought significant positive influence to Vietnam itself. By hosting an internationally respected award that celebrates scientific excellence and humanity-centered innovation, VinFuture has helped elevate Vietnam’s global visibility and reputation as a nation that values science, technology, and the pursuit of knowledge. “I see Vietnam as a country that is proactively embracing the opportunities that science and technology bring to society and the economy, and the opportunity for education and employment,” he said.

Through VinFuture, Vietnam has positioned itself as an emerging hub for scientific dialogue and innovation — a place where the world’s leading minds can gather to exchange ideas and inspire one another. He believed that the chance “to meet, to understand what these prize winners have done” serves as “an inspiration for the Vietnamese research community and younger generations to believe in their own potential.”

He also pointed to the annual VinFuture Sci-Tech Week in Hanoi as a compelling expression of this ambition. The event, he said, “has brought to Vietnam far-reaching global dialogues — intellectual exchanges with the potential to shape the course of the world.” These discussions have sparked remarkable public engagement, attracting not only researchers but also the broader society. “It is in such moments,” he observed, “that science becomes an integral part of public life.”

Concluding his reflections, Professor Friend expressed his deep admiration for Vietnam’s drive and determination. “The eagerness to make the world better and to make things happen in Vietnam shines through very strongly,” he said. “I believe that the opportunity to engage directly with those who have driven change across the world will be deeply inspiring — kindling a strong belief that the Vietnamese people are fully capable of achieving truly great things.”

Frost & Sullivan Honors Fort Collins Utilities and Texarkana Water Utilities with Excellence in Resourcefulness Awards

Achieving Infrastructure Resiliency and Preparedness for the Water and Energy Transition

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Frost & Sullivan is pleased to announce Fort Collins Utilities and Texarkana Water Utilities as recipients of the tenth annual Excellence in Resourcefulness Awards in collaboration with Itron. The awards were presented during Itron Inspire 2025, Itron’s premier customer conference.

To learn more about Itron Inspire, visit www.itron.com/inspire.

Both utilities were celebrated for demonstrating that strategic technology investment is the key to achieving profound water and energy conservation goals, strengthening financial stability, and empowering their communities.

Excellence in Resourcefulness – Energy: Fort Collins Utilities

Fort Collins Utilities, a municipal utility in Colorado, is among a growing number of utilities with an ambitious goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 and achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2030. As a long-term proponent of flexible load, the municipality has successfully demonstrated a cost-effective, progressive approach to optimizing local variable loads through the rollout of Time-of-Use rates and DERMS. A key success factor of this program has been Fort Collins’ long-standing collaboration with Itron. Since the initial deployment, Fort Collins and Itron have worked together to refine functionalities, such as OpenADR support and advanced telematic communications for electric vehicles. The system aggregates customer-owned devices, such as smart thermostats and grid-interactive water heaters, enabling the utility to manage and shift demand in real time, actively. Through these efforts, the utility is focused on hitting specific targets, such as achieving 5% of its 2030 peak load as dispatchable capacity (approximately 16 MW).

“Since the program’s launch, the utility has successfully shifted around 750 MWh of energy annually. It also uses a “cost of conserved energy” metric to assess success, justifying investments by showing that the cost of these initiatives is much lower than the cost of purchasing energy from the power supplier,” stated Farah Saeed, Industry | Director Energy & Environment Growth Advisory at Frost & Sullivan.

The utility’s cost of saving energy is around 3 cents per kWh, while the cost of purchasing power is between 5 and 6 cents per kWh. This cost-saving strategy extends the life of capital assets, such as service transformers and conductors, by reducing peak load and overall grid stress.

Excellence in Resourcefulness – Water: Texarkana Water Utilities

Tucked away in the corner of Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas, Texarkana Water Utilities (TWU), a mid-sized water utility, was dealing with what many water utilities are experiencing today—the urgent need to upgrade dated water infrastructure with limited available funding. The water utility had reached a point where it recognized that any prolonged delay or inaction would further increase operational costs for detecting leaks and managing dated meters. In 2024, TWU’s AMI project secured $20 million in funding by establishing a compelling, data-backed business case. Texarkana Water Utilities’ water infrastructure modernization strategy relies on an integrated technology stack that includes satellite imagery and Itron’s leak detection solution to monitor the distribution network continuously. This solution has been instrumental in early leak detection, identifying 64 leaks in total. By quantifying potential water loss, TWU could save over 137.3 million gallons of treated water annually, resulting in $178,500 in annual operational savings.

“By quantifying potential water losses, TWU can strategically prioritize repairs and ensure resources are directed to areas with the most significant positive impact,” noted Saeed.

Beyond conservation, the new AMI system, supported by Itron’s technology, delivers real-time data to a customer portal, transforming the utility-customer relationship into one of transparency and trust. This empowers residents to partner in conservation efforts and helps the utility achieve long-term fiscal prudence.

Award Methodology

As part of the selection process, Frost & Sullivan conducted in-depth research and interviews and evaluated utilities against industry best practices and the decision criteria, including societal impact and business impact for each category. Societal impact indicators include delivering superior technology-driven resource management and resource-conscious programs that enhance overall customer experience and engagement with resourcefulness.

Business impact indicators include a well-drafted vision for implementing a technology-oriented resourcefulness strategy that yields operational efficiencies and strengthens the utilities or city’s image as a leader and advocate for sustainability.

Fibronostics Acquires Stone Clinical Laboratories to Advance MASH/MASLD Diagnostics

Acquisition expands U.S. lab operations and accelerates innovation in non-invasive diagnostics for metabolic and liver diseases.

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Fibronostics, a global leader in non-invasive diagnostics for metabolic and liver diseases, today announced the completion of its acquisition of Stone Clinical Laboratories, LLC, a leading provider of advanced laboratory services in the United States.

This strategic acquisition strengthens Fibronostics’ research and development position and reinforces its commitment to innovation in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

The transaction comes at a pivotal time for the industry, following major milestones such as the FDA approvals of Madrigal Pharmaceuticals’ Rezdiffra™ and Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy®, as well as Roche’s acquisition of 89Bio. These developments highlight growing investment in MASH/MASLD therapeutics and the rising demand for reliable, scalable diagnostics that can identify patients earlier and more precisely, assess disease progression, and monitor treatment outcomes.

“With the acquisition of Stone Clinical Laboratories, Fibronostics expands its U.S. laboratory infrastructure and operational expertise,” said Brock Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Fibronostics. “This strengthens our ability to accelerate innovation in non-invasive diagnostics and enhance collaborations with pharmaceutical and healthcare partners addressing the global burden of MASH and MASLD.”

Stone Clinical Laboratories brings extensive technical expertise and robust testing capabilities that complement Fibronostics’ proprietary digital health platforms, including LIVERFASt®. Together, they will advance biomarker development, R&D programs, and clinical validation studies supporting therapeutic innovation and patient management.

“Therapeutic breakthroughs in MASH and MASLD are reshaping liver care,” added Smith. “As treatment options expand, the need for precise and accessible diagnostics becomes more critical. This acquisition positions Fibronostics to lead in providing scalable solutions that bridge diagnostics and therapeutics.”

The acquisition represents a significant milestone in Fibronostics’ growth strategy. The combined organization is well-positioned to collaborate with biopharma innovators, healthcare systems, and payers to accelerate early detection and improve outcomes for patients worldwide.
