According to a Channel News Asia report, this wave of tech layoffs in Singapore reflects a broader global trend: companies are pivoting toward AI and automation to boost efficiency, phasing out redundant roles. While the short-term impact has disrupted careers, long-term demand for digitally skilled professionals remains strong.

These changes signal a recalibration across the tech industry, where hiring priorities are shifting toward AI-focused roles, data science, cybersecurity, and cloud computing.

Despite the disruption, Singapore remains a strategic hub for tech talent. Public and private sector employers are continuing to recruit in high-growth areas, as highlighted by recent job market insights from The Straits Times. However, with increasing pressure to hire efficiently, many employers are rethinking their approach to recruitment.

This is where Fuku AI’s automated recruitment platform plays a pivotal role. Using AI-driven hiring solutions, Fuku AI helps companies fill critical roles faster through:

  • AI talent mapping
  • AI-generated job-role matching
  • Automated candidate outreach
  • Streamlined candidate screening and evaluation

Companies using the platform report a reduction in recruitment cycles from weeks to days, with up to 80% shorter time-to-hire.

“Our AI-recruitment platform automates sourcing, screening, outreach—even interview evaluation—matching retrenched professionals and passive talent in under a minute,” said Kevin Gao, Founder and CEO of Fuku AI. “We’re helping companies find the right people, right now—without the delays of traditional hiring methods.”

Fuku AI is gaining traction as a cost-effective alternative to legacy hiring platforms, appealing to both SMEs and larger enterprises seeking AI in HR technologies to manage high-volume or specialized hiring needs.

Despite current disruptions in the job market, Fuku AI positions itself as a vital force in accelerating employment recovery. The platform’s mission is to support both displaced professionals and growing companies—delivering future-ready hiring tools for a future-ready workforce.

Suntamed Music Festival Returns for its third year, Taking the Desi Beat Global from the Heart of Southeast Asia

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 28 July 2025 – Born from a gap in Singapore’s nightlife and the vision of a 19-year-old entrepreneur, Suntamed Music Festival has grown into Southeast Asia’s first and only Bollywood-centric music festival. Now in its third year, it returns on 23 August 2025 at Sentosa Island with its most inclusive edition yet: a high-energy, culture-driven experience featuring over 30 artists, the launch of a second stage featuring Bolly-House, Afrodesi, and BollyTech sounds.

Founder Samrudhi Ekhande imagined the festival not as a party, but a celebration of identity and community where the South Asian diaspora and wider audiences could find connection through music. What started with a team of two has become a youth-led movement aiming to take Desi culture global, beginning in Singapore.

“This isn’t just about sound,” says Samrudhi. “It’s about providing a Premium Desi Musical experience, which also helps break away from some of the negative stereotypes that are associated with Indian nightlife.

This year’s edition is powered by a strategic collaboration with De Ideaz, one of Singapore’s most established event management agencies. With over 15 years of experience curating large-scale cultural and corporate events across the region. Along with their partnership with Aayam Singapore, one of Singapore’s best consulting firms, known for its strategic consulting and management services.

Year 3 of the festival expects 3,000 patrons and features headliners like Aastha Gill, Karan Kanchan, and Aareo. With eyes on the APAC region and beyond, Suntamed is more than a music festival; it’s a movement grounded in culture, built by community, and led by a generation ready to redefine global stages.

On July 26, the opening ceremony of the 2025 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) was held at the permanent venue of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in Gui’an New Area, Guiyang, Guizhou. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province.

The 2025 CAECW took place from July 24 to 27, under the theme “Smart Education Empowering People-to-People Exchanges, Educational Cooperation Enhancing Common Development.” This year’s edition focused on showcasing the achievements of China-ASEAN cultural and people-to-people exchanges, enhancing the platform functions of CAECW, and deepening innovative models of “Education+” projects. The event aimed to attract broader participation from ASEAN countries and Belt and Road partners, and was expected to establish a brand for large-scale, impactful China-ASEAN educational and cultural exchange programs, which would contribute to building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

A total of 116 activities were held during the 2025 CAECW. Of these, 19 events were staged during the opening period, while 97 activities will take place throughout the remainder of the year. Additionally, 3 high-level vocational education communities or industry-education alliances would be formed, and it was expected that 1,100 international youth would come to Guizhou for study tours and exchange visits.

As the only intergovernmental exchange and cooperation platform between China and ASEAN dedicated to education, the CAECW has been successfully held 18 times. Through faculty and student exchanges, youth dialogues, and cultural immersion programs, CAECW has increasingly become an important international platform for strengthening people-to-people ties between China and ASEAN. It has also served as a vital bridge for fostering mutual understanding and friendship among the younger generation and deepening mutual trust at the grassroots level.

With a focus on integrating education with culture, tourism, sports, scientific innovation, industry, business, and trade, CAECW has grown from an initial platform for exchanging educational ideas into a comprehensive platform for multi-level and wide-ranging cooperation in both cultural and economic fields. It has created a series of influential branded initiatives, made significant contributions to bilateral relations, and played a positive role in building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

Looking ahead, CAECW will further deepen the principles of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation. It will align closely with regional development trends and the educational needs of young talent, continuously expand areas of cooperation, and explore innovative “Education+” cooperation models. Building on the valuable experience of the past 18 editions, CAECW will move forward with greater vision, further enhancing its influence and injecting sustained vitality into the creation of a more resilient China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

Successful Completion of First CRS with HIPEC on a 60-year-old Woman with Advanced Peritoneal Carcinomatosis

KOLKATA, India, July 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In a landmark achievement, a 60-year-old woman with advanced primary peritoneal carcinomatosis was successfully treated with Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) combined with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) at Manipal Hospital Dhakuria, under the expertise of Dr. Ashutosh Daga, Medical Oncologist, and Dr. Sagnik Ray, Surgical Oncologist. The 12-hour long procedure adds a milestone in cancer care treatment.

The sexagenarian was initially taken to another hospital where she was misdiagnosed as a case of chronic liver failure with ascites. When she came to Manipal Hospital Dhakuria, she had trouble breathing and was admitted to the ICU. In the ICU, the fluid in her lungs was drained and chemotherapy was done. Initially, she needed chemotherapy every week but as soon as her condition improvised, she needed it once in three weeks. Subsequently, she was also shifted to the general ward.

“We are proud to announce the successful completion of our first CRS with HIPEC at Manipal Hospital Dhakuria—an emerging center for comprehensive cancer care in Kolkata,” said Dr. Ashutosh Daga. He went on to add, “Although we have previously performed a lot of CRS procedures and managed numerous advanced malignancies in collaboration with our medical oncologists, this was our first CRS case incorporating HIPEC that paves the way for complex procedures at the hospital for cancer patients.”

Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) combined with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a highly specialized and evolving treatment modality used in the management of select gynecological, gastrointestinal, and occasionally thoracic malignancies. This complex procedure demands surgical precision and seamless coordination across multiple departments—including Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Physical Medicine, and Transfusion Medicine.

Dr. Sagnik Ray said, “After 5 months of chemotherapy, she underwent optimal cytoreduction followed by intraoperative delivery of heated chemotherapy using a dedicated HIPEC machine, and she responded to the treatment in a positive manner. The patient had an excellent recovery and was discharged in stable condition on the 9th day of the surgery.”

Alteogen Receives Positive CHMP Opinion for Aflibercept Biosimilar, ‘EYLUXVI® (ALT-L9)’

  • CHMP positive opinion is based on a robust analytical, non-clinical and clinical data package comparing EYLUXVI® to the reference product Eylea®
  • Upon approval, EYLUXVI® will be Alteogen’s second biosimilar product, following a Herceptin® biosimilar by Alteogen’s license partner Qilu Pharmaceutical

DAEJEON, South Korea, July 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Alteogen Inc. (KOSDAQ:196170) announced today that the European Medicines Agency’s (EMA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has adopted a positive opinion for EYLUXVI® (code name: ALT-L9), a biosimilar referencing Eylea® (aflibercept), co-developed with its subsidiary Alteogen Biologics Inc.

EYLUXVI® has been recommended for approval in adult patients for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), visual impairment due to macular oedema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (branch [RVO] or central [RVO]), visual impairment due to diabetic macular oedema (DME), and visual impairment due to myopic choroidal neovascularisation (myopic CNV).

“We are pleased to receive a positive CHMP recommendation for EYLUXVI®. This marks a significant milestone for Alteogen,” said Soon-Jae Park, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Alteogen. “We will provide a new, accessible treatment option for patients suffering from devastating ocular diseases such as wet age-related macular degeneration,” he added.

The positive CHMP opinion was based on the totality of evidence comprising a comprehensive analytical, non-clinical and clinical data package. A randomized, double-masked, parallel group, multicenter Phase 3 study, conducted by Alteogen Biologics, demonstrated equivalent efficacy and comparable safety, immunogenicity, and pharmacokinetics (PK) profiles between EYLUXVI® and reference aflibercept in patients with wet AMD.

Meanwhile, Alteogen licensed the development and commercialization rights for its anti-cancer drug Herceptin® biosimilar, ALT-L2, for the Chinese market to Qilu Pharmaceutical in 2017. Qilu Pharmaceutical completed its development, obtained approval from Chinese regulatory authorities last year, and is currently marketing the product in China. If approved, EYLUXVI® will be Alteogen’s second commercialized biosimilar product.

About the ALT-L9 Phase 3 study

The study is a randomized, double-masked, parallel group phase 3 study conducted at 79 centers in 12 countries from June 2022 to February 2024, including follow-up through 52 weeks. 431 participants with wet AMD were randomized 1:1 to receive either ALT-L9 (n = 216) or Eylea® (n = 215). The primary efficacy endpoint of the study was the change from baseline in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA).
