Hong Kong: A whole new world of sportainment

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 18 April 2025 – Coldplay, one of the biggest rock bands on the planet, made history by performing the first concert at the brand new Kai Tak Stadium, with four sell-out concerts (April 8, 9, 11, 12) at the 50,000-seat arena. Just two weeks earlier, the world-famous Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament (March 28-30) made its debut at the same venue, welcoming over 110,000 fans from around the world.

image-1.jpeg

These two very different events achieved the same result: a resounding success that has launched an exciting new era of sportainment in Hong Kong.

“It was amazing. People were having a lot of fun. We were able to dance and relax and enjoy the show. Everyone at the venue, the staff, the security personnel were fabulous and the people were super-friendly,” said Alex, a British national living in Shanghai, who was delighted to have made the trip to Hong Kong to watch Coldplay.

“Amazing!” said Frenchman Clement, who lives in Hong Kong. “This venue is better than other places I have been to and we can now have more great bands coming to perform here. I hope that more concerts will be held in Hong Kong.”

For sports fans attending the Hong Kong Sevens, the experience was also out of this world. Although Fiji were unable to achieve their dream of winning the tournament, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of their many travelling supporters.

“I’ve been coming to the Hong Kong Sevens for the past seven years. We’re just here to enjoy the atmosphere, enjoy the games, meeting old friends, meeting some new friends, and that is what we are here for,” said one Fijian fan. “It (Kai Tak Stadium) is awesome, beautiful, beautiful. It is lovely with the roof, with the air-con, with the WiFi and the seating arrangement.”

For others in the crowd it was a totally new experience, including for one group of friends from the UK. “This is our first time to the Rugby Sevens. It’s an experience. Terrific atmosphere, great costumes, really good vibes… absolutely amazing.”

An experience not to be missed

Chris from Beijing said Hong Kong’s multicultural environment added to the experience of watching Coldplay at the Kai Tak Stadium. “I really liked it. Really amazing show in a global city. There were people of all ages and from many different places, all having fun together… and many different cultural elements in the show. I am really happy! I will definitely come to Hong Kong again if a similar concert is held here.”

This sentiment was shared at the Rugby Sevens, where a Fiji supporter from Papua New Guinea encouraged everyone to experience the tournament: “It’s amazing. It’s something that everyone needs to do. Come to the Hong Kong Sevens!”

The seamless transition from a top quality sports pitch to a vibrant stage for one of the world’s most iconic music performances, is key to Kai Tak Stadium’s role as Hong Kong’s new sportainment hub, come rain or shine.

Coming soon…

The Kai Tak Stadium stage is set for more exciting events in the weeks and months ahead. Among them are JJ Lin’s “JJ20” FINAL LAP World Tour in Hong Kong (May 24 – 25) and Jay Chou Carnival World Tour 2025 – Hong Kong (June 27 – 29).

Sport returns in July with four of the world’s biggest football teams, Liverpool FC, AC Milan, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur, set to grace the Kai Tak Stadium turf for the inaugural Hong Kong Football Festival 2025, which kicks off on July 24.

See you in Hong Kong, Asia’s events capital.

Octa broker on graphical analysis: identifying potentially profitable trades with candlestick charts

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Media OutReach Newswire – 18 April 2025 – Trading success often depends on whether or not one can pinpoint potentially profitable assets before sharp price movement. This is particularly evident in crypto, where high volatility is the norm. Technical analysis—an analysis of historical price action and chart patterns—is one of the main methods to predict price direction. Candlestick analysis, a part of technical analysis, allows traders to visualise potential price movements. Octa, a broker with globally recognised licences, shares how candlestick analysis can be used to identify specific patterns that might suggest future price changes.

Octa Broker

Understanding candlestick charts

Candlestick charts help traders respond quickly to market shifts by providing clear visual signals. Unlike line charts, candlesticks offer more details within a specific time frame, which is essential in the fast-paced crypto market.

Common bullish patterns include:

  • Hammer. A candle with a small body and long lower wick. It may signal a reversal to the upside when it appears after a downtrend.
  • Bullish Engulfing. A two-candle pattern where the second bullish (green) candle fully engulfs the first bearish (red) candle. It often indicates potential upward movement when found at the bottom of a bearish trend.
  • Double Bottom. A formation with two similar lows, suggests a reversal and possible price increase.
    Octa Broker

Bearish patterns include:

  • Hanging Man. A small-bodied candle with a long lower wick, appearing at the top of an uptrend, often suggests a downturn.
  • Bearish Engulfing. A two-candle pattern where the second bearish (red) candle completely engulfs the first bullish (green) candle.
  • Double Top. A structure with two similar highs often warns of a reversal to the downside.
    Octa Broker

These candlestick patterns allow traders to anticipate potential price reversal points on time, develop a proactive strategy, and confirm their trading decisions in a volatile crypto market.

Besides bullish and bearish patterns, there are so-called neutral candlestick chart patterns like doji. They often signify indecision in the market when the relative strength of buyers and sellers is roughly balanced. Here are some typical doji candlesticks:

  • Classic Doji. The opening and closing prices of the candle almost coincide. The candle resembles a thin horizontal line with short shadows at the top and bottom. If the closing price is higher than the opening one, a bullish doji may appear, indicating a potential asset price increase.
  • Long-legged Doji. A pattern with long shadows up and (or) down. It signals major indecision, with more potential for a bearish market.
  • Riksha Doji. This pattern has a similar shadow length, and the price is in the middle of the trading range.
    Octa Broker

Key elements of graphical analysis

To forecast price direction and spot valuable trades, traders should also use other tools of graphical analysis. Here are the main ones to consider when analysing candlestick patterns.

Support and resistance levels

  • Support: a level where prices tend to stop falling and start rising due to increased buying interest.
  • Resistance: a level where prices often stall or reverse due to selling pressure

These levels are identified from historical highs and lows. The more times the price reacts to a level, the stronger it becomes. Notably, a support level can become resistance if the price drops below it, and vice versa.

Traders often look to trade on bounces from these levels or breakouts beyond them. For example, on a historical 4H BTC/USD chart, the price approached the $99,320 resistance level, formed a bullish doji mentioned above, and then decisively broke upward.

Octa Broker

Trend

  • Uptrend: drawn through higher lows, indicating support in a rising market.
  • Downtrend: drawn through lower highs, indicating resistance in a falling market.

Avoid trading against the trend to reduce risk. A trend reversal can be a powerful signal for identifying market turning points.

A guide to reading candlestick chart patterns

Candlestick charts offer valuable insight into market sentiment but correctly interpreting them is essential. Here are several practical tips for traders:

Read patterns in context. In uptrends, look for bearish reversal signals (e.g. bearish engulfing). In downtrends, seek bullish signals (e.g. hammer, bullish engulfing). In sideways markets, dojis and long-wick candles suggest uncertainty—it’s often best to wait for a clear signal.

Focus on key levels. Patterns forming near major support or resistance levels (local highs/lows or historical pivots) are more likely to play out successfully.

Analyse candle size and shape. Large candles with solid bodies suggest strong momentum. Small-bodied candles with long wicks (doji) indicate indecision and uncertainty. Weakening impulse and smaller candles often precede reversal patterns like hammers or engulfing formations.

Backtest with historical data. Studying historical price action helps reinforce your understanding of patterns. For instance, the 1D BTC/USD chart shows that the trend turned upward after the Bullish Engulfing pattern was formed at the support of $40,779. Then, the price approached the resistance at $64,933 and after forming a Bearish Engulfing candle stick pattern, the asset failed to continue the uptrend, and its price sharply declined towards the $40,779 support and then down to $35,387.

Octa Broker

‘Relying on single candlestick patterns is risky, as they fail to showcase the full picture—yet when analysed in context, they can pinpoint early signals of potentially promising assets. ‘Trading decisions should always be confirmed with additional technical indicators. Combining candlestick analysis with technical tools can increase the accuracy of your forecasts’says Kar Yong Ang, financial market analyst at Octa broker.

Graphical analysis helps traders identify promising assets by interpreting visual price patterns. However, no approach guarantees accuracy. To minimise risk, use a holistic strategy: study candlestick formations alongside key levels and trends, combine them with indicators and volume data and always consider the fundamental context. Macro events, trading volume, liquidity, market sentiment—all of these factors shape the price trajectory of a cryptocurrency. The more data you evaluate, the higher the chances of making a well-informed decision and avoiding costly mistakes.

Global Times: China, Cambodia set cooperation model for nations of different sizes, Xi says

BEIJING, April 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday held talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. The two leaders agreed to build an all-weather community with shared future in a new era and designated 2025 China-Cambodia Year of Tourism, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

The leaders of China, Cambodia also witnessed the exchange of more than 30 bilateral cooperation documents.

Xi said China will open its mega-market to Cambodia, import more high-quality Cambodian agricultural products.

President Xi also met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Cambodian People’s Party President and Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Thursday.

Xi said China and Cambodia set a model for equality, mutual trust and win-win cooperation between countries of different sizes during his meeting with the Cambodian King, adding that he believes Chinese modernization will bring more opportunities to neighboring countries including Cambodia.

During his meeting with Hun Sen, Xi said that unilateralism and hegemonism receive no support of the people, and trade wars undermine the multilateral trading system and disrupt global economic order.

Xi also urged all countries to unite and firmly keep the reins of national security and development in their own hands, adding that China will maintain the continuity and stability of its neighborhood diplomacy.

Xi arrived in Phnom Penh earlier on Thursday for a state visit to Cambodia, his second visit to the country in nine years. Cambodia is the third leg of Xi’s three-nation Southeast Asia tour after concluding successful state visits in Vietnam and Malaysia.

Xi said Thursday he looks forward to cementing friendship and promoting cooperation with Cambodia in a written statement upon his arrival in Phnom Penh.

Xi said China takes Cambodia as a priority in neighborhood diplomacy, and firmly supports Cambodia upholding strategic independence and following a development path suited to its national conditions.

Xi was warmly welcomed by King Sihamoni, Hun Sen and other senior officials at the airport during a grand welcome ceremony held by the king.

Large enthusiastic crowds lined up neatly at the airport to warmly welcome President Xi. “We love China!” said Cambodian girls dressed in traditional white and red attire, standing among the welcoming crowds. They held golden cups filled with jasmine petals – a unique Cambodian tradition for receiving the country’s most distinguished guests, the Global Times learned.

Cambodian media also expressed a positive and welcoming attitude toward the leader’s visit. The Khmer Times said Xi’s “landmark visit” is expected to “further cement the historical bonds of friendship and cooperation nurtured by successive leaders of both countries.”

Jian Hua Daily said Xi’s visit is an important manifestation of the traditional friendly relations between the two countries, and it will further promote bilateral cooperation in various fields to a new level.

Enriched dimensions

Lu Guangsheng, a professor at Yunnan University’s Institute of International Relations, told the Global Times that President Xi’s visit has continued and strengthened the traditional friendly and cooperative relationship between China and Cambodia, further enriching the already close strategic partnership between China and Cambodia.

The further deepening of practical cooperation between the two countries holds landmark significance in promoting the substantive and thorough implementation of Belt and Road Initiative projects in Southeast Asia, Lu said.

In a recent interview with Xinhua News Agency, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin said China has been Cambodia’s largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years. And in 2024, two-way trade reached $17.83 billion, up by 20.7 percent year-on-year.

China has remained Cambodia’s largest source of foreign investment for 13 consecutive years, with investments spanning a wide range of sectors, including transportation, power, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, special economic zones, as well as information and communications technology, characterized by extensive coverage, large scale and strong results, said Wang.

Kin Phea, director general of the International Relations Institute of Cambodia of the Royal Academy of Cambodia, told the Global Times that Xi’s visit will further strengthen political trust and reinforce ChinaCambodia shared vision for common development.

He said that the “ironclad friendship” between China and Cambodia has consistently delivered results, even amid global uncertainties.

“It [The visit] is a powerful driver to elevate our already strong ties, ensuring long-term peace, stability, prosperity, and friendship for both nations and the broader region,” he said.

Ties withstand the test

Noting that bilateral ties were forged and nurtured by the elder generations of leaders of the two countries, Xi said in a written statement upon his arrival in Phnom Penh that ChinaCambodia relations have withstood the test of global transformations, and always remained rock-solid.

China and Cambodia have supported each other in maintaining stability and promoting development and prosperity, and worked together in upholding international fairness and justice, setting an example for a new type of international relations while contributing to building a community with a shared future for mankind, he added.

Together we must stand against hegemonism, power politics and camp-based confrontation, and defend the shared interests of our two countries and other developing countries, Xi said in a signed article titled “Together We Strive, Together We Thrive: Toward a Stable and Sustainable China-Cambodia Community with a Shared Future in the New Era” published Thursday in Cambodian media outlets Khmer Times, Jian Hua Daily and Fresh News ahead of his arrival in Cambodia, according to Xinhua.

We should advocate an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, endeavor to safeguard world peace and stability and international fairness and justice, jointly oppose protectionism, and defend an international environment of openness and cooperation, Xi noted.

CambodiaChina’s special and unbreakable ties are a ‘unique role model’ of interstate relations … Joint efforts in diplomacy, trade, and security enhance peace and prosperity, while close coordination on global platforms strengthens multilateralism,” Kin Phea said.

Cambodia greatly values this partnership, which contributes not only to our national development but also to regional harmony. The enduring strength of our ties demonstrates the power of genuine friendship based on equality, respect, and mutual support, the Cambodian expert added.

At a time when the world is facing rising uncertainty, there is no doubt that the deepening cooperation between China and Cambodia represents a kind of certainty amid turbulence, Lu Guangsheng said. “It also serves as a role model for the development of relations among regional countries.”

Moreover, against the backdrop of certain country’s using tariffs and economic pressure as tools of strategic coercion, President Xi’s state visits demonstrate confidence in countering coercion and hegemony through cooperation – both bilaterally and within the region – with Southeast Asian countries, Lu said.
